Nice step up from the kit lens
Besides an autofocus that is a little slow, the lens is a really good walk around lens to replace the 18-55 kit lens. The macro feature is really nice to have and the pics look really great. Great lens for the money. Give it a shot! :)

great lens for portrait
I bought this and tried a few shots around the yard before using at a wedding. I love it. I compared the same photos taken with lens in comparison to 18 -55 f5.6 and there is a clearer more focus different. Works great for portraits and random photos .

Owned for several years, great lens and value
Have used this on a D90 and now a D500 for about 7 years, can't imagine a better lens in this price or zoom range. Better than the 17-50 in performance (see DPReview's coverage) and the extra length is a bonus. Adjustable with the Sigma dock, a great value.

Love this lens!
I've been using the 18-55 kit lens with a Canon T5i for about three years now. I had my eye on either the Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 or the 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6. One had a larger aperture, and the other had a wider range. This lens is a combination of both of those features, and it is very sharp! Great lens.
Great lens. I wanted to replace my kit canon kit lens. A tad heavier than the kit lens but overall much better quality. Its my carry lens for the time being.

Excellent general purpose lens
This lens is the closest affordable lens I could find as the only lens I will take on a trip. The features are outstanding, but I would have preferred a slightly longer range. Many years ago I had a 35-105 mm zoom which was better for wildlife and train photos. Auto focus is a very nice feature.

My first Sigma Lens
I wanted a new walk around lens for my new Nikon D7500. After looking through the B and H website, I chose this one. I have had the lens a little more than two weeks and so far I have been quite satisfied.

GREAT lens!
I bought this lens to fill in the gap of focal length that the two lenses that came with the Canon camera left. VERY good price and service from B&H - as usual! The 2 freebies that they threw in were icing on the cake. The UV protector lens filter and USB updating adapter are nice to have.

Skeptical at first...
Yep, I had y doubts based on other reviews of this lens and using it in conjunction with my Sony a6500 adapted with the MC-11. So far I love it and would recommend it to other Sony a6500 users. I've had no problems with the lens grabbing focus. Even in somewhat low-light situations it seems to preform well. The color rendition of this lens is excellent. Like most other Sigma lenses I've used in the past, this lens adds an overall warm tone to my images.

Great lens for the money
This lens is a really good deal as a walk around lens, you get F2.8 at the wide end and it is very sharp in the center, a little soft in the corners but sharpens up as you stop down. OS is quite effective. I had to seb mine in for a firmware upgrade, when Nikon updated the D7100 firmware. Sigma did the upgrade for free and looked over the lens, it came back even sharper, great service! As for the Competition its obviously the Nikon 16-80 VR and it is even better, but not by much.

Great walk around lens!
Over the past couple of years, Ive been changing up my lens kit for my Canon 80D to include mainly primes. Thats all well and fine but sometimes, you just need a zoom lens. I bought this lens for travel photography and to be a walk around lens. So far, Im pretty impressed with its sharpness, especially given its price. This lens is a keeper.

While Im Just An Amateur....
Im enjoying what my new Sigma lens has to offer. Its a bit heavier than I expected, but the options are limitless for this size of lens. I had called B&H customer service to ask what lens I needed for taking pictures of family and most sporting events. He was more than helpful with mentioning this as the best deal. good walk around lens. decent upgrade from kit 18-55.
I have had this lens for a little bit now. Was able to test it out in several conditions. Turns out to be a good investment. Good walk around lens, especially for outings with family where you switch from landscape to group shots to portraits. the close focusing feature allowed for some macro shots of flowers hand held, bugs you have to be careful as you get so close that the shadow of the lens may scare them off. Great Lens
I got this as a replacement for an old Nikon 17-70 that I use for infrared and it has been a great replacement. The lens is sharp, quite zoom and I have not found any hunting for focus.

Seems a Little Soft
I bought this lens for my Nikon D500. It has ample range and I have shot plenty of photos with it. Great walk around lens
I bought this lens to replace my beloved Konica Minolta 28-70 f2.8 that was starting to show it's age. It's been a real joy to shot with. Smooth, fast focusing. It's lightweight and compact. And, it's been tack sharp. It goes with me on almost every assignment these days.

Great walk around lens
In term of optical performance, this lens is comparable to my Canon 17-40mm f4L. With Canon lens, I got sharpest picture at f8 on my 7D. With Sigma 17-70mm lens, I able to shoot very sharp pictures at all aperture. This is amazing. Also, this lens will be on my Sony a6300 all the time with MC-11 adapter. Kudos Sigam.

Nice piece of glass
Fits the bill as the perfect walk around lens for my 77D. Image quality is very good with nice color rendition and weighs half as much as the 24-105 f/4L. If you shoot both full frame and crop sensor I say get this lens for your crop sensor camera and leave your 24-105 f/4L on you full frame camera. I was thinking between Nikon 16-80 2.8-4E vs. this one. My initial decision was based on price, specs and reviews. The Nikon lens was a guaranteed good buy, but for double the price.
