I like to do night astrophotography so I go this lense since you don't need that much high res for this type of photo. Look at the lense on the digital picture. Com and image quality wasn't great. But how suprises whas I when I start doing day photo just to test the lense. This lense is crazy Sharpe even sharper then my 16-35 f4 is really wow. Love the lense. The easiest way to focus is to to so it via live view. The only thing do is when using l... Show More

Great Value & Great Field of View

Jan 7, 2017

For the price, this thing can't be beat. It is super sharp and the angle of view (around 115 deg.) is astounding. I got this lens for the purpose of shooting landscapes, interiors, and astrophotography. The 2.8 aperture and the Nikon AE chip means that I can shoot even in very low light. It is a manual focus lens. This doesn't bother me because I mainly shoot still subjects with it. But, someone who is used to shooting with autofocus all the time... Show More

I dropped it and it still works perfect!

Aug 22, 2018

Ive had this lens for about 5 months now and it is awesome! I have use it on my Canon 5D Mark III. I am an event photographer, so I use it for a few shots at the start of my events to get some shots of the venue before guests arrive. I would also like to include that this is VERY WELL BUILT! I am usually always very careful with my gear, but this one time I dropped it about 4 feet from the air and onto tiled flooring. Part of the lens hood ch... Show More

Wonderful Tool for Astrophotography!

Feb 2, 2016

I have enjoyed using this lens for several subjects, but I bought it primarily for astrophotography. I am learning the subject, and this lens is a great way to jump in... Not expensive, great image quality, and easy to learn. I was a bit concerned as I have never used a manual focus lens, but it was fairly easy to learn, and now it is becoming second nature. This lens grabs lots of light quickly, and easily. Stars are sharp at F2.8... don't even ... Show More

Great lens, great price

Feb 21, 2013

I've used this lens for a few weeks now on a T2i. My camera isn't full-frame so I'm not taking full advantage of it. I'm sure it's mind blowing on a full-frame though. That said, it's still great to have it. I'll definitely be hanging onto this lens for a while for when I have a full-frame body. This the first fully manual lens that I've used in a while so it took a little bit of getting used to. But that wasn't a big deal at all. I still manage ... Show More

A Decent Lens for the Money...

Mar 15, 2018

I purchased this manual lens for my 5D - Mark IV with the idea that using it in either the apperture or shutter speed preference settings, I would only have to make two settings; one for exposure and the other for focus. My first impression was the lens is rather large and heavy, but otherwise solid nd ell made, I find the focus difficult to adjust through th viewfinder, and recommend it be checked on the imprinted sch on the base of the lens. Great lens at a great price

Apr 19, 2015

I have only had the lens for a month at this point, so my review is still at an early stage. I bought this lens as I primarily shoot landscape and wide-field astrophotography, so I am not worried about AF. That being said, for sub $, this lens is the bomb. I cannot express how happy I am with the results of the performance of this lens. I have attached two wide-field shots I did less than 24 hours after I received the lens. This lens is great whe... It's really sharp on my Nikon D800

Jul 12, 2015

The lens is amazingly good. Yes, it has distortion (which can be mostly corrected in Photoshop or Light room) but it's sharp at the edges of the frame and the corners of the images are sharp too on my D800. And we are talking about shooting the lens at f/4. I also own a Zeiss 21mm ZE and a Canon 16-35mm f/4 IS lens for my Canon 1Ds3. The Rokinon is just as sharp on a Nikon. Is it built as well as a Zeiss or Canon L lens? The answer is no but it i... Show More

Quality Glass for a Bargin

Jul 14, 2014

Really, for the price, this lens can not be beat. When you nail the focus, its comparable to lots of quality Canon wide angle glass. On a Full Frame, this 14mm is insanely wide. I am using a Canon 5D MK lll, and it fits beautifully. The wide aperture is great. Very little vignetting and reasonably sharp on the corners. Its built very well and looks great. I really like the lens. Manual focus can sometimes be a pain when shooting portraits, but wi... Show More

Amazing at twice this price!

Apr 6, 2012

Much sharper than the Canon counterpart and a fraction of the cost. Great image sharpness from edge to edge and well-controlled chromatic aberration. Wide open there is quite a bit of light falloff but that's standard for ultrawides. The lens loses a star for pronounced complex distortion - problematic if you shoot brick walls or lots of architecture (get a TS). For most landscape, this distortion is very well-hidden. Landscape photography is whe... Show More

Great lens with limitations

Feb 12, 2017

I'm using this mostly for grand landscapes and in museums and tight indoor shots. The images from this lens were sharper than the same image from my zoom lens when set for wide-angle. The exposure range is great and I didn't notice chromatic aberrations even on tree branches set against a bright sky. I'm OK with an the ALL manual adjustment; however, I would have given this lens a 5 if it at least was equipped with contacts for lens info and the ... Show More

Deal of the century for milky way photos

Mar 18, 2014

After reading a lot of reviews and testing a lot of lenses. This is one of the very best options for Canon users to shoot sharp wide angle Milky Way photos at any price. I was amazed at how the stars were round, sharp, and had no comma. I compared to $ Zeiss 21mm, my very, very sharp Canon L 24-70 2.8 I, and many others. Nothing gave me that performance. It has a bit of distortion, but is less bothersome than my Zeiss 21. It is fairly sharp across... Show More

A great wide angle lens for shooting landscapes and seascapes. If you find yourself restricted by budget concerns, or you're uncertain as to wether or not a pricy ultra wide angle lens is worth the investment, then I recommend this lens. It's reasonably sharp, and rugged built, it's not as lightweight as some of the low cost lenses available today and it is manual focus only. That doesn't detract from its value in my opinion, as I most often use m... Excellent Value Wide Angle

Oct 18, 2014

I wanted this lens mainly for interior spaces in low light. The f/2.8 is excellent for that purpose. Outdoors of course is the main thing and there it really shines. Took it to Palo Duro Canyon recently and got some good photos with it. One thing about this lens is the large curved front element and its big lens cap. When walking around I keep the cap on so as not to get any scratches on the glass. The permanent hood helps protect it as well but ... Show More

A Great Wide Angle Lens

Aug 24, 2011

I was hesitant at first to buy this lens with only a few reviews, but since my purchase I've been very pleased. Users should be aware that this lens is fully manual in not only focusing but also selecting aperture settings as well. Achieving the right aperture is as simple as twisting the F-stop ring to the desired setting. Be sure to know that when using a desired shutter speed, the camera is unable to change the F-stop to accommodate. The only ... Show More

I'm using this lens for video as much as photos on my Canon 6D. The lens is good, fast (f 2.8), not too heavy and easy to use. Limited of course by being a manual lens, it has no auto focus or optical stabilisation and aperture has to be set by hand using the ring. I guess you can call it an old school lens.
