Non crucial listening

May 26, 2015

I use these for recreational listening. I tried a few other brands cheaper, but always come back to Sony MDR 7500 series. You hear what's there. Have always used 7506 for studio and location monitoring. Even their Lower end phones the MDR ZX series are good.

Sony MDR-7520 have amazing clarity

May 12, 2015

The Sony MDR-7250 headphones have quickly become my favorite headphones. Excellent sound replication, no colorful additions to boost bass. Just crystal clear audio. Way better for editing than my previous set of Beats Professional Studio headphones

Decent for the price

OK for utility monitors. They are smaller profile than most and we utilize them in a multi-user environment where gear is constantly being brutalized! Workable audio quality, smallish, and inexpensive!

Adequate for the Job

Apr 12, 2015

I use this product to edit narration on a computer. Had a pair for at least five years and one of the plastic hinges broke, Did not see a way of ordering the part online, so I opted to re-order a pair and keep the old set for spare parts. Sound reproduction is good. Fairly comfortable for short, but not long periods of time. I'd rate it higher if Sony provided an easy way to order spare parts for this product.

Good sound for field work

Mar 4, 2015

These relatively small headphones have very good sound quality and they are excellent value. This is my second pair and I had no hesitation buying these to replace the 7502's that I had been using for over 10 years. I use them to monitor audio when recording video and they work well, even in noisy NYC. They are comfortable to wear for longer periods. I also use them to monitor audio when recording city sounds with my trusty Zoom H4 recorder. The ... Show More

I think the audio quality is great more on the brighter end side but i feel the headphones are a little too heavy for my likings and i cant see myself wearing these headphones for numerous hours unless im trying to build strength on my neck but overall its a good headphone i went ahead and exchange them for a slighter lighter headphones sony mdr7506 for a way less less price too and i use these for mixing which was the main purpose of purchasing the mdr 7520.

Love my new cans!

Feb 5, 2015

I'm a voice talent and audio editor, and as such, must have a set of headphones that are reliable, comfortable and reasonably priced. I've known of B&H since the mid '80's, as once of my closest friends has been buying product since the days of VHS tape. My previous set of cans stop working on one channel and when trying to get service for them or return them, I discovered that the online vendor was out of business and had in fact been a sham, se... Like studio monitors on your head!

Dec 5, 2014

Man these headphones are incredible. I will forward my review with the fact that I am a professional audio engineer and music producer who spends a considerable amount of time recording live concerts and producing in tight spaces. Like many of you probably reading this review I did a lot of research a head of time to make sure I was making a sound investment into a pair of headphones that were going to work well for me. Low Price & High Quality Sound

Nov 19, 2014

I have a collection of both popular and classical music. These headphones make both types of music sound good. Detail and sound stage are very good. Acoustic music sounds natural with no exaggerated bass. The fit is very comfortable for my head and ears. Can listen for over an hour without discomfit. The price is amazing considering the high quality sound.

Natural sound, excellent sensitivity

Oct 21, 2014

I'm a long time user of Sony MDR-7506 for live recording of classical music, and purchased a pair of MDR-7510 headphones as a step up in comfort and fidelity. At first I was disappointed in the lack of transparency and detail compaired to the older 7506 phones. The sound was best described as boxy. Details were lacking in tutti string and choral passages. That has changed dramatically. To a certain extent, one's ear must learn to accommodate a ne... Show More

Honesty is the Best Policy

Sep 20, 2014

First my set up. I have a Mac Mini (2012) with the MDR-7520's connected to a Roland Quad Capture. I use a Shure SM7B and record vocals at 24 bit 192 khz using Sony Sound Forge Pro for Mac (Version 2.0). I bought these headphones because they have a frequency range that goes up to 80 kHz which is just about half of 192 kHz. I thought that this was no coincidence on Sony's part as most standard headphones go up to about 20 kHz which is about half o... Show More

My best studio (and cellphone) cans yet.

Jul 29, 2014

Due to their high efficiency, power handling and attainable SPL, they don't pass the European safety regulations, and are thus not available for sale over here. Slightly miffed by such well-meaning, yet rather nanny-ish, policies I decided to import a pair myself. With just barely enough padding and rather creaky joints, those searching a luxurious experience might be better served elsewhere. Potential users seeking high design to make people in ... Show More

Good Sound, Not Terribly Portable

Jun 25, 2014

The sound quality for the price of these is quite good. They do not fold, and the ear-cups do not swivel flat, so they're not very good for portable use such as in a laptop bag (which was what I'd hoped to use them for).

Excellent clarity and power, these things sound phenomenal. I'm listening to old albums that I've heard a thousand times and noticing things for the first time, like they were remastered. I have a decent pair of Audio Technicas that don't even come close, I'm officially a Sony headphone fan. Super comfy and they block out the vast majority of ambient sound, highly recommend them !

Headphones for a Drummer

May 28, 2014

These are very good headphones - Isolation is very good and they are very easy to wear for long periods of time. They are quite musically transparent with very good Vocal reproduction. They seem to a lack Bass (compared to an older Sony pair that are no longer produced). The length of lead is excellent - allows much more movement that most others I came across. All things said - these are very good.

All I can say is wow. I've been using the Sony 7509 for a few years for recording/monitoring/mixdowns and this is such an upgrade, it's amazing to hear stuff I haven't been hearing! Beautiful sound throughout the spectrum, highs, lows, mids, and great clarity. It's a little tighter fit than the 7509's but so then the isolation is greater. Highly recommended.
