Great little tripod for next to nothing.

Jan 28, 2011

I ordered two of these for our production coordination team who are routinely sent out and about to scout locations and do quick screen-tests of interview subjects. We didn't need professional grade, just a light set of sticks that would be easy to transport and could do a fine job holding their dslr cameras upright and stable. We were very happy with what we received. The 3-way pan/ tilt head is surprisingly smooth (though it's not perfect) and ... Show More

exactly what I needed

Jan 28, 2011

Great deal for the money. I am an amateur so I didn't really know what I needed but my budget was really low. This came well reviewed and for the money I couldn't find something better. Seems very sturdy, very well built. Much better than I expected.

GREAT !

Jan 27, 2011

I am not a PRO photographer, but I'm not an amatuer either, this is a perfect tripod, sturdy and nicely built, feels solid. I have a canon T1i and when it sits on top of it I have no concerns of it falling down.Very good product for a reasonable price.

I use this with my Canon Xti and lenses, and it is steady, smooth, and a bargain at its price. Highly recommended.

Great tripod

Jan 20, 2011

Used this recently to take some star trail photos on a frozen lake, and the feet held tight. The levels I at first thought were more than I needed, but found them to be extremely useful in composing a shot at night where the view through the viewfinder was poor. Great overall tripod for a great price.

So far, so good!

Jan 19, 2011

I am an entry level slr photographer. I've owned a few tripods and this is definitely the best I've owned. I've found that the tripod is well built and very sturdy. The reason I gave the tripod 4 stars, instead of 5, is because it definitely isn't as user friendly as a ball head would be. I'm on a tight budget and decided to save money and invest in this tripod. Nevertheless, I'm very happy with this tripod. The extra quick release plate and bag make this a fantastic deal.

Good Deal

I needed this for studio stills. Very sturdy, collet clamps on the center post (for the spreader) and riser give great stability.

Good for the price

An amateur using the stand mostly for my video camera. Great variety for heights of use. Only thing I don't like is the relatively cheap plastic clips that hold the interior braces to the bottom of the legs.

Great for the price

Jan 6, 2011

Have not had chance to use it too often yet, but from first impression it is a lot better than I expected it to be considering the price. The legs, once pulled out seem a bit flimsy, but once set up they seem to make the tripod quite sturdy. The turn-arm to extend the height of the main part of the tripod is a bit poorly designed and it takes a bit of time and effort to extend the tripod to it's maximum height. But that aside, the tripod really d... Show More

Good tripod for the price

Jan 4, 2011

Useful for event photography & videography (at church, zoo lights, etc), tall enough to avoid back strain, stable for most uses, smooth motions except for slow video pans, clamps are strong except for slight creep in tilt head, dual levels quite useful, included case very useful for transporting tripod.

Great little tripod

Jan 4, 2011

Great little tripod is nicely built. It doesn't feel super rugged but for the price it is nicer than I thought it would be. It has all the features listed in the description and includes a bubble level. It also included two plates with bubble levels for mounting your camera. One gripe is that the height adjustment crank feels very cheap and is hard to turn.

Great Tripod

Jan 2, 2011

This is a sturdy lightweight tripod with easy to use extension legs and vertical crank operated extension up to 60 inches. The panning is smooth and the built-in level is very helpful. The two quick release heads and carry bag are very handy. An amazing buy at $. ...

Excellent value!

I'm using this tripod for a small JVC Everio handheld video camera, but it is amazing. The controls are fluid and easy to use, and it is more than sturdy enough for any household-use camera or video camera. I most enjoy how easy it was to set up and use the first time, right out of the box!

I'm only giving this 4 stars because I haven't had a ton of opportunities to use it. However, I have been pleasantly surprised by this purchase. It's cheap but seems well made. It's easy to use and all around I'm very happy with this purchase.

perfect for me

Nov 14, 2010

the 8001ut tripod is perfect for me. I am a novice photographer who just had his first grandchildren. I own a Canon G-10 which gives me great pictures and now I can shoot the kids and be in the pictures with them! Also, when I have to chase after them ( they are toddlers ) I can do so without the camera dangling from my neck or laying it down somewhere. I also like to travel and it is very light and folds up small so it easily fits in my suitcase... Show More

More than enough for amateurs

Nov 9, 2010

Good: Sturdy, good height, light and compact, came with case and extra plate, good horizontal panning. Not so good: Vertical panning little jerky on slow move but could be adjusted by tightening/loosening the screw. For $, it's a very good tripod with a case. More than enough for home use.

Great Inexpensive Tripod!

Aug 31, 2010

I use this tripod to do beginner video shots for personal use. It works beautifully for stabilizing shots while I do zooming and panning functions. This is not near the quality of a professional tripod, but for the price this is perfect for amateur work. I was very surprised by how solid this thing is built for the few dollars I dropped on it. The main caveat, as expected with any inexpensive tripod that is not a fluid bearing design, is that you may experience a slight jerk motion when you first start to do panning. With little practice, you should be able to compensate for this.
