not great but good

This is a good tripod for its price. Tilting and panning are not very smooth but it's light and practical...I would recommend it!

nice tripod

Great tripod for what i need. I bought 4 of them and they work out well. Easy to use, legs are steady, moves well on pan and tilt.

OK for the price

Feb 25, 2015

Tripod has a lot of features. None of the adjustments are very smooth, they feel coarse and imprecise. But for keeping a camera off the ground, it's OK. I did not expect a precision tool, nor did I get one. It sounds like I hate it - I don't. It's exactly what I needed at the price I wanted to pay. So four stars from me.

Sturdy and Smooth

Feb 10, 2015

I was surprised by the quality of the craftsmanship considering the lower price range of this item. I needed a second tripod with my more expensive one, but I think this Sunpak might be my main tripod from now on. I do videography and I am buying updated equipment.

Perfect product at the perfect price

Dec 18, 2014

This tripod is exactly what I was looking for and more. I was really just looking for something inexpensive for some lunar photos since I have pretty shaky hands. This tripod is compact, which is fantastic, and also expands to a perfect height. The range of motion on it is amazing and it's extremely light weight. The quick release is also a great bonus feature that I was not expecting. Having never used a tripod before the ease of use is great. I love everything about it!

perfect

Perfect for the price. Holds my dslr with 105mm macro lens without any issues. Sturdy, yet light weight and compact. Great alternative to terribly expensive tripods.

great for the price

Controls a a bit stiff, and imprecise. not really a 3 way head, or fluid head. Easy to set up and collapse. I use this indoors and it does what I need it to do. Considering the price, I am completely satisfied.

Decent economical tripod

Jan 2, 2014

I purchased this product as a gift for a family member and had a brief time testing it prior to giving it to them. It is a very basic, no frills, and competitively priced tripod. Pros: Sturdy enough design and materials of the legs. Clamps seem very solid when locking into place as well as the control locks. The plates lock firmly into place with very little movement. Adjustable spike/rubber feet are always a plus. Cons: Controls were as expected... Show More

We use this mostly for shooting videos and so far it works great. A ton of different levers to tighten this and that make it a breeze to use

Decent Tripod

Oct 15, 2013

THis is a OK tripod. I use it for my camcorder but would not recommend using it on any of my photography gear. For the purpose of having it in a single location in doors with a very light attachment I would say yes this is great. As far as attaching a couple thousand dollar body and lens on it. I dont think I would do that.

TripodTASTIC!

Jul 22, 2013

I'm very pleased with the 8001 UT Tripod that I ordered. I was concerned that I wouldn't be getting a quality item because of the low price, but I was absolutely wrong. First the negative: It weighs more than a feather. That's the only negative thing I can think of, and I never had the expectations that it would be the lightest tripod. It's still very manageable and comes with a nice cover with carrying strap. I didn't even notice it over my shou... Show More

Eh, it's an ok tripod at best

Jul 12, 2013

I guess for tripods in this price range, it's good? After reading the various reviews about this, I honestly thought this tripod would be sturdier. I would've given it one star but I gave it 2 for the price. To me, it's pretty flimsy. It's very light and compact but if you fully extend it, it definitely doesn't feel sturdy. Even extending it halfway it doesn't feel sturdy at all. Probably fine if used as a table top. I would only use this tripod for only small cameras. I guess I got what I paid for.

Simple & adequate for a first tripod

Apr 30, 2013

I've gotten to use this on 1 outing so far & it worked as expected. All parts seem strong & hold well. I feel that time will be the true test for the quality & durability of this tripod; but, for a 1st time user, it more than fits my needs. Unfortunately, my experience is too limited to make any further assessment. All in all I feel that this a great tripod to use as I am learning. Hopefully, with proper care, it will last a while. great value

Mar 19, 2013

I purchased this tripod to work with my Canon T3i. I use it for night, macro and hdr shots. It is staable enough to make adjustments to the camera and keep the identical shot. For the price and weight of the product I see it as a great value and would purchase it again in a heartbeat.

Excellent value for money

Jan 24, 2013

Surprisingly solid for a cheap tripod and reaches a decent height. Nice to have two plates and the free case was useful. Only bought it for one job, but will use it again when I need a light portable tripod to fit in a small bag..
