Exactly What I Wanted

Sep 3, 2019

I bought this lens to replace my Pentax 12-24 mm f/4 lens, which I lost when I left it behind in a hotel room a couple of years ago. When this lens went on sale, I decided it would be the ideal replacement, and I wasn't wrong. It's nice and sharp, maybe even sharper than the Pentax, just a tad faster at a constant aperture of f/3.5, and a little bit wider. It should be very useful for astrophotography, museums, real estate, and landscapes.

great for crop body

i would say 3.5 stars, maybe bec i am from L lenses, L lenses are way sharper than Sigma. i just need sell my L lenses to fund something else, but on my level on photog, i am not a pro or going to be a pro, i am happy taking pictures as my hobby, but theres a big difference from Canon L to Sigma. bottom line, if you cannot afford L, sigma are for you. i still love this lens. and oh.. i dont like the hood, looks really cheap.

Great deal !

Dec 31, 2009

I bought this to replace my Canon10/22mm and so far I'm pleased with my decision.Every bit as good or better than the Canon plus it came with hood and great padded case.Neither of which canon offered as part of the deal. All that for less . I like the 3.5 constant aperture. So far I've been pleased with all the shots I've taken with this lens. Most of my work is shot at f8 or f11 and it's really sharp at those apertures....

Excellent! Very wide without distortion and Sharp.

Jul 24, 2017

I have used it for some real estate photos both exterior and interior. I needed a very wide angle especially for interior shots and this lens does the job without distortion. I usually buy Canon lenses, but this time I tried the Sigma lens because of the cost savings. My Canon lens is an 18mm-200mm, which is a good all around lens, but it has a little distortion at the 18mm end. The Sigma 10-20mm is very good and sharp.

Not f/3.5! Only stops down to f4.0

May 26, 2016

This is the second sigma f3.5 10-20 lens I've tried this past month. Although it is advertised as allowing f/3.5 at any focal length, these two lenses only stop down to f/4.0. Talked to sigma & they say they must be having a manufacturing problem. Guess i'll have to return this one too. Paid a lot extra to be able to get f 3.5. Not worth the extra money if this is now false advertising. Time to go back to a canon lens!

very good product

Sep 14, 2009

Very good product, I use it with a Canon EOS 40D and, thanks to the fact that it can be opened up to 3.5, it is useful if you want to take pictures inside museum which refuses flash. The only issue I have found is related to its diameter (82 mm) : if you use the built-in flash of the EOS 40D, you will see that there is a shadow area no lightened by the built-in flash. In this case I suggest to use an external flash.

Love it!

Feb 27, 2017

I am very, very pleased with this lens. I've used it both indoors and out, mostly outdoors and have been having a blast with it! Images are crisp and clear and I can't wait to use it during the upcoming car show season! Hoping to fine-tune my skills with it indoors for some potential Real Estate work in the spring. Well worth it! Yes, I would certainly recommend this and yes, I would certainly buy it again!

Love this lens!

I am using this lens exclusively for macro photography...primarily flowers. Using at largest apertures for very soft look with just edges of petals in focus....beautiful effect. Focus has been easy, except low light, but then it's simple to use manual focus when needed. Lens is sharp and produces beautiful photos. Nice sturdy build...not too heavy. Very nice bokeh...no cons. Great price for a terrific lens.

Good buy for the price.

Jul 19, 2017

Shoot lots of nature and landscapes, wanted a wide zoom without spending over $1000. This fits the bill. Been too busy at my regular job shooting TV news to put this through a full workout, but the images I made at an amusement park with my girlfriend's grand kids were really nice. Focusing was fast with the Canon 80D. Exposure was very good at Program, TV and AE. Color reproduction was also acceptable.

Not sure on this one

Nov 16, 2011

I've been shooting this lens for about a month and really love how wide it is and the fixed aperture throughout. However, coming from a nikkor 12-24, this lens doesn't quite cut it. It is pretty soft (especially around the edges) and the chromatic aberration in back lit subjects is pretty bad. The focusing if fine and the build quality seems great, but the jury is still out on this one for me.

Excellent lens

Feb 9, 2011

I have taken only few shots with this lens, but they were really sharp. The autofocus is right on the mark, but a little slow in low light. Lens feels solid and well made. It complements my 7D very well. The weight is reasonable, compared to Canon 10-22, which I considered. It is heavier then Canon lens, but it seems as if it meant business. I could afford Canon, but liked this one better.

a great wide-angle lens for the price

Mar 13, 2019

the quality of the build is really good and the lens feels very solid in your hand. On a DX format camera is does a really good job capturing details. This is a little more expensive than the Nikkor lens but the quality is a much higher to my opinion and it is F3.5 For the price and quality of this lens you cannot go wrong and now it is even cheaper than the F4-5 version of the same lens.

Finally joined the superwide crowd!

Mar 25, 2018

The lens required some micro adjustments on the 80D, was front focusing. After that, focusing and sharpness are good. I experimented with shooting into the rising sun because a review stated that it was good against bright light. It is pretty good, had a just a couple color artifacts, but much better than my Sigma 17-50 2.8. Color and contrast are veey good, so I do recommend this lens.

Sigma Wide Angle 10 - 20mm 3.5

Oct 5, 2011

I love the images that this lens produces. However, it doesn't auto focus without some hesitation on my nikon. I did some research and found this is a common issue with sigmas and nikon bodies. If I had known this, i might not have purchased this lens. But i do like it. It just is kind of finicky when you are auto focusing. It's almost fish eye in quality too at 10mm. Which is great.

Nice Lens

May 10, 2018

I bought this, based on reviews from other people. I take photos for Real Estate. I also have a Tokina AT-X Pro. This was a recommendation from B & H on a phone call. The Tokina is afar superior lens, as it does not distort the photos. The Sigma has some distortion. Just a heads up. If you have the $$, go for the Tokina. Otherwise, this lens works fine. I use this on my Cannon.

This is my first wide-angle lens (Pentax K-30 Camera)and I am very impressed with it's clarity and low light capability. I shot our entire family Christmas get together with this lens filming from the corner of the room. I got everything crystal clear from wall to wall. I own the Sigma 70mm Macro also and am very pleased that I can get this kind of quality for such low prices.

Absolutely stunning!

Absolutely wonderful lens! I used it when I traveled back to PA for a large wedding shoot and it served more than its purpose along with my Sigma 70-200 & Sigma 24-70. They all work great on my D-90. I also shoot alot of landscape photography at the Grand Canyon and you couldn't ask for a better lens. No other lens belongs on my Nikon except a Sigma! Thanks Sigma and B&H.

Enjoying New Perspective of Ultra Wide Angle.

Oct 24, 2019

The camera used is the Pentax KP with this lens. Up to this time my widest lens was the DA 15, with this Sigma 10-20mm I am seeing a whole new view. At F3.5 my copy is sharp through the middle, with the corners being a little soft. Close it down and all is beautiful. Lens is well made, solid and easy to use. I highly recommend it to those wanting a ultra wide angle lens.

I have purchased the 10-20 F3.5 from Sigma after having owned the Canon version (10-22). I love the excellent built quality and good sharp pictures. It is a great lens for my Canon 7D. I love having a wide angle for indoor and some outdoor shots and having a constant aperture. I am not a professional photographer, just taking pictures of my family and some nature shots.

Dec 24, 2013

I scheduled a vacation to the Grand Canyon, Death Valley, and Yellowstone. Needed a wide angle lens for my Canon 40D. Looked at Canon, Tamron, Sigma--liked the Sigma best on paper and price--not disappointed! Beautiful lens with good focus and clarity edge to edge. Used a polarizer (circular) and created mind-numbingly beautiful landscapes! Highly recommended!

Very Nice Lens

Dec 10, 2011

I'm using this lens for landscape photography. I find the 3.5 aperture very useful in low light. Tonight I'm about to do my first star trail with this lens and I can't wait to see the results. I also have the Sigma 17 - 70mm which opens up to 2.8. I do wish they would have kept that with this lens though. I am a fan of Sigma because of the sturdy construction.

Not Sharp with my D3400

Oct 25, 2017

I bought this for my D3400 to take wide-angle shots but it didn't auto focus properly. After using the autofocus I would have to manually adjust the focus to get anything remotely close to useable. This lens was also tried on a D750 and had a similar problem. I tried 2 lenses and both had the same problem. I was really hoping for this to be my favourite lens.

I have also shot landscapes that have already garnered praise. I like this lens. This is the second Sigma lens that I have purchased. I am pretty impressed with the results thus far.

Aug 26, 2015

This is an awesome lens. Bright, sharp, and very easy to operate. I have been looking for a wide angle for some time but can not afford a 2nd mortgage to purchase one. This lens is very reasonable in price for the quality. It's a little heavy (it's not bad) but you would expect it with all that nice wide glass up front. Very happy with the purchase.
