Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM Lens for Pentax K

A good compromise UW zoom range
The 1st copy I got had malfunctioning AF, but the 2nd is just fine and AF works well. I will use this lens extensively at our local marina to do boat portraits and wide scenics-- and also for landscapes and interiors. At the marina, the boats are packed in pretty tightly and it takes an ultra-wide to open it up. This lens is sharp, contrasty and the constant f3.5 aperture is useful for night work. The lens is well built, but on the downside, it is sort of big and heavy-- about the size and weight of a good 24-75 f2.8. It take 82mm filters which are spendy.

Nice Wide Lens
I have been using this lens for about a week and I am pretty pleased with it. The biggest complaint I have so far is actually the lens cap, it is difficult to get in the right position sometimes, and if it isn't it can pop off. Colors are nice through this lens. It is fairly sharp, quite a bit sharper than my Tamron wide angle lens. CA is, as many Sigma reviews say, a little bit of an issue, but it is unavoidable for almost every lens and fixable in Photoshop. CA is slightly worse than my Tamron wide angle. The distorted view at 10mm is very nice as well.

a good buy for the money
I use this lens primarily for landscape and wildlife photography, and up-close action shots at sporting events (bicycle races). I read a lot of other reviews about lenses in this class before making a decision. All had strengths and weaknesses, so it came down to price. Overall I'm pleased with the purchase. A bit soft on the edges, and some chromatic ab. as stated by tests. Center is quite sharp, more so than what I expected! Build quality is very good. Expect to pay close to another $100 for a decent 77mm polarizing filter. Focus is accurate and fast.

What was I waiting for?
I've had my DSLR (Nikon D7000) for a few years now and never really thought about a wide angle lens to add to my arsenal. As a real estate broker I am always admiring property photos and wishing I could take photos like the ones you often see in property listings. With this lens I now can! After much research and recommendations from fellow agents and photographers alike, this lens seemed to to be the most mentioned one for the purpose I'm using it for. After using this lens for a couple of weeks, I can honestly say I made the right choice.

Nice lens that produces very nice pictures
Nice lens. I am very pleased with Sigma's recent improvement in build quality and this lens is no exception. The manual focus and zoom rings have a nice feel, and the picture is very good. I haven't noticed any softness in the picture, nor any aberrations or vignetting (using the B+W 82mm UV Haze MRC 010M filter). The color tones are nice as well. The only thing is that the autofocusing is a little slow--no unbearably so--but a little slower than my other lenses (though it is darn near silent). Focusing itself is very good. #sweepstakes

Great lens for an affordable price
I had this wide angle lens for a month so far and used it primarily for outdoors scenics and nature photography. I debated buying the Canon equivalent wide angle lens but decided to try this one after reading most of the user's reviews. It is a sharp lens, beautifully constructed, easy to use, fast and focuses accurately. It is slightly heavy but not a big issue for me. It works great with my Rebell 3Ti when I needed the extra wide angle to capture the scenics. I highly recommend this lens and can't think of anything bad about it.

Good performance, very pleased
I am very happy with this lens. The 3.5 version is a must, the 4.5 is no good in lower light. Forget it and spend a little more to get 3.5. Ive used Nikor 12-24, and this lens performs almost as well. I do architectural photography and the wide 10 mm is great. Have to be cautious in shot selection that you watch for fisheye effect but many times i shoot at 10mm and the images are fine and if not just go up a little. If cost is a consideration I would go for this sigma 10-20mm over the way more expensive Nikor 12-24.

Recommanded this lens to tons of friends
I bought the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 lens for landscape and weather pictures mostly, but also to complete a powerful kit of lenses ranging from 10 to 300 mm. Like all Sigma lenses, the 10-20mm f/3.5 is well-built, but a little heavy. It can also hold a 82mm filter, perfect for outdoor pictures in every conditions (unlike many quasi fish-eye lenses). I already have recommended this lens to a friend who may very well buy it soon, and I believe every one who shoots outdoors and landscapes SHOULD have this lens.

Sharp, light, convenient -- great for travel
For my full-frame Nikon bodies, I use the hefty Nikon 14-24mm. When we planned a family vac through northeastern U.S. and Quebec, I didnt want to lug around that lens. Furthermore, I was planning to take my sole APS-C camera, the D500. After seeing photos captured w/ the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 and read the reviews, I decided this would be my APS-C wide-angle travel lens. It was a wise decision. The lens has impressed me, especially since I caught it on sale. Great value and a great performing lens.

Good Enough
The lens is well made and has some of the best autofocus of all my lenses. The image quality is very good in the center and there seems to be relatively minor distortion at the edges, as would be expected with this type of lens. Only real complaint is that the corners are not sharp, even stopped down. But for the price and the fact that Sigma is no longer making lenses for Pentax cameras, I could not resist buying one for my K3. Overall, I am satisfied with this lens for my level of photography.

Excellent lens
I own most of the Canon L series lenses. I had the canon 10-22 a few years ago and liked it but didn't use it enough to justify the expense. Recently I found that I need more wide angle shots and was going to get the Canon again. I saw this and it had good reviews so I decided to try it. I am so glad that I did. This lens is very nice and much cheaper than Canon's. It is a little slower to focus and you have to pay attention to be sure that it is sharp but other than than it is close to perfect.

Great Real Estate Len
This lens replaced an older version of the same lens and I could not be happier. I had been asked by my employer to take some shots of one of our campus buildings and they came out great. The are going to use the shots to make some promotional items for our Health Profession College. Unlike my old lens, on my D800 at 10mm I do not get a round picture. Mounting the lens could not be easier. The aluminum is anodized making the lens easier to grip. The lens if heavy but I expected that.

Quality Product at a reasonable price
I recently bought sigma 10-20mm for my Nikon D90 and was very much amazed with the result. Even in low-light conditions images were sharp, detailed, clear and ultra-wide (primary purpose of having this lens in your bag). Though there are other products available by other competitors like Nikon 12-24, tokina 11-16 but this one comes at far more reasonable price with a quality to beat any pro-lens. I strongly recommend this lens who is interested in landscape and nature photography.

Great lens
The reason I brought this lens is because I need a wide lens for my Pentax K5ii. I shot landscape by this lens and it is great at f8. Talk about the bad side. It is quite heavy, compares to usual Pentax lens. But if you use it with the battery grip? OMG, can't be better. The weight balance just perfect. If you are looking forward to a wide lens foe landscape, I will suggest this one. If you want wider, I will suggest Rokinon 8mm f3.5. Conclude, great lens that you should have.

Consistantly stunning with min. distort
It's good for use in still-life photos that need to emphasize a subject and add a certain bang. Additionally its more affordable than Canon's similar use w/a lens but preforms with the same quality and minimal distortion. Despite it's heavy weight it is still ideal for vacation photography as it provides interesting pictures every time. However if it is being used for portraits the subject needs to be in the middle as they will look 10-20lbs heavier with the side distortion.

I like it!
I use it with my Pentax K3 II. It is a tad bit slow on autofocus but nothing that bothers me too much. I'm not doing action shots with it. I'm finding that the focus seems a bit soft on some of the shots but that might have more to do with the photographer than the lens. I've only used it for a couple weeks now but I'm really enjoying it so far. I've been capturing some very interesting fall foliage shots. The super-wide angle makes for very creative and artistic images.

Great Lens
This UWA zoom does exactly what I needed it for. I was looking for an ultrawide with a minimum of distortion and this one is it. There are others in this range, but most provide a fisheye effect, or lean heavily in that direction. I wanted a tack sharp UWA below my 15mm ltd prime primarily for landscape use. Great lens for my purposes. Very pleased. It's heavier than I prefer, but worth it. There just aren't comparable lenses in this range with the IQ this 10-20 has.

Excellent lens! 99% as sharp as Canon
I bought this lens as a super wide angle solution for wedding work. I shoot on a Canon 7D. I was considering the Canon 10-20, but it stops down from 3.5 to 4.5 as you zoom, I wanted at least a constant f4. This lens works very well, it's very sharp, and focuses quick. Only comment is that it does have some CA in extremely strong contract situations. However I shoot in RAW format, and I have never seen CA on this lens which cannot be removed in Camera RAW post work.

Handy Lens-Great Price
I've been working with this lens for a week now and am glad I have it. I bought it for a very specific use. I shoot real estate video on my D750 & needed something wider than what I already have. Only complaint is about myself/user error. I did the first few shoots with my camera set to FX (full frame). It had quite bit of a vignette/bowing problems. A quick Google search and a few minutes of practice and I'm happy with it. It does exactly what I needed it to do.

What a Fun Lens
Using this sigma on a D750, yes in crop sensor mode of course and a D7100. This is a very fun lenses that has it's place and produces excellent shots. I had the older 4.5, sold it to upgrade to the new 3.5. Thought to go to a true full frame super wide, but this lenses for the price and the percentage of time I use it, It's great. Gave this product a lot of consideration and choose the Sigma 10-20 f3.5 wide angle, I am very happy with it and it does a great job.

It failed on arrival, nothing but dark photos, sent back
I can not really rate this lens as I had it only for three days and sent it back for replacement. When my new lens arrives in two days (replacement at B & H is outstanding, with perfect RME paperwork and attitude by employees), I will be able to rate this lens. The first lens had all the photo's come out very dark, no matter what settings I made to my Kikon Camera. All of my other lenses I have purchased for my Nikon from B & H have worked outstandingly well.

Nice UWA lens
I wanted to have this lens for wide angle indoors photography for houses. The Pentax lens is pretty expensive. This came to either the Tamron 10-24 or Sigma 10-20. I like teh Sigma for the sharpness in images. Color is more on the pure, neutral side compared to Pentax lenses.. treat it the way you want in PP. Pictures come out nice and clear. The 8 mm that you get below standard 18 mm end is amazing.. it sort of almost doubles the image contents!

For when you cannot backup any further
I use the lens for landscape and architectural photography. It given me a wider field of view than I can get from my 16-300mm zoom. Also, while I have not tested it, I would guess its optics may provide a better picture at the 16-20mm range than the other lens. Used it several times in a recent trip and it worked flawlessly. It is the only lens of its weight that I own which does not have vibration reduction, but has not been a problems so far.

Great wide angle zoom!
Loving this so far - great wide angle zoom. Using it for some real estate marketing photos interior got much better with this getting the f3.5 option. Little to no distortion, etc. Doing video work with it soon, just some test shots looked very good at an event that got rained out. Even interiors in tight spaces we got some useable images. Happy with it! Looking forward to more uses for years to come. Using on T5i, 7D, and 6D - no issues ...
