Lot's of disk space for a low price
I use it to store large volumes of data. I am not necessarily editing high volumes of video, so I am not sure how it would work for such users. Downloading video and playback are fine.

Cheapest way to get a good 8TB drive.
Cheapest way to get a good 8TB drive. Just bust the case open and remove the drive. I use mine in an OWC Thunderbolt bare drive dual bay unit for back ups. I'd recommend it as well.

Very Easy Process
I put this drive on my Xbox One and it formatted for games right away with absolutely no issues. I then copied my games from my 3TB external Seagate drive and again it was without issue. I am now using the drive for my Xbox One external storage and it is working flawlessly. I have never had any issues with my Seagate drives. The only drive that I ever had an issue with was a WD drive. I know others have different experiences but if I were going to buy another drive I would purchase Seagate.

I bought this for my iMac. I needed a big drive to store video files. I do not work directly off of the drive, so I can't comment on how fast it would be for something like that. As a backup and to transfer files though it works quick enough. I did have to reformat the drive the first time I hooked it up, it isn't formatted for Mac straight out of the box.

Don't try to back up anything quickly with this thing. It is slow as molasses. But it works and has a ton of storage.

VERY slow
No mention of speed in the specs, should have looked into it more, maxing out at 20-30 MB/s, otherwise its okay. But that's REALLY slow for a USB 3.0 drive :( They should have mentioned this in the specs. I'll likely keep it but I wouldn't recommend it.

Works Great
This drive is just what I needed for backing up my photos locally. I use a 9TB Raid for my primary photo storage along with CrashPlan for an online storage, but like to have a local backup of my photos and this drive fulfills my needs.

Seagate 8TB Hard Drive
This is my 3rd Seagate unit (the other two are 5TB size). Unfortunately, one of the older units gave indications of dying and I bought the 8TB unit. I formatted the 8TB unit with the Mac Disk Utility and was up and running in less than 10 minutes. And the unit is working perfectly.

Super easy to set up
I connected the supplied USB 3 cable and plugged in the power transformer. Windows 10 did the rest, no divers or software. It worked perfectly the first time. My only comment is a little noise when it "wakes up" after my computer sleeps. You'll notice that when you're in a quiet area. After that, it's fine.

So Far, So Good... backup at a bargain price
I own three of these drives, which house the 8TB Seagate Archive Drive. These are not speed demons, but they are not intended to be. I am currently using two for alternating Time Machine backups under macOS (Sierra) and a third for long-term offsite storage. Although hard drives are always a crapshoot, I've had no problems with Seagate external drives as backups since I started using them when they maxed out at 2TB. Odd are good you'll get a good one of these.

When I registered this product at Seagate site I was informed that the product warranty had expired in 2017.

Simple, no fuss
I have 2 other drives like this (5TB though). I have had no issues and install in minutes with no drivers or complication.

Many may store. One goes on and on and....
Have used all the major brands, Seagate has the best reputation for simply working. Only Seagate brand drives have never failed (fingers crossed!), this in a controlled environment, UPS etc etc. Two thumbs up!

No power switch
Drive works aok but a power switch would improve safety. Plugging in directly to power causes a spark and a power surge which could damage the drive.

Excellent External Backup
This drive is very easy to use, just plug it in and go. Truly amazing that it is 8TB for a reasonable price. A good way to backup photos and other files.

Exactly as describe. I use this drive to backup up my photos and to keep a copy of my operating system. So far it's been great and I see no problem as yet. It also runs quiet in the background. I am more than pleased with this purchase and will probably order another one in the near future!

So far, so good
It's early days to make sure it lasts, but no problems so far. Quieter than I was led to expect from some other reviews, and fast. Great for storing music files which exist on portable drives as well. So, so far, so good.

The most important thing about hard drives is their reliability. I've had this drive for only about a week so I can't give an accurate assessment regarding that. But so far so good. It looks attractive, it runs quiet, and it transfers data fast.

Seagate 8T Expansion Drive arrive, formatted for Mac.
This 8T Expansion Drive arrived promptly from B&H. I formatted for Mac and set up as Time Machine. Since my 2010 Macbook pro is only USB 2, the Time Machine back up of over 3 TB of various drives is taking many many days and nights of continuous running. I hope this drive survives the first 2 Back ups. After that it is light duty. Better to look at reviews after a year of use not 2 weeks.
