I have bought this disk for back up. It is fastest than I supposed. It has plenty of room for backing up videos and photos.

My 3rd Seagate: because they last.
First Seagate was an internal add-on to my Mac G5. It lived as long as the computer (years) with no issues. Second was a 3TB external, now several years old, used with my previous iMac--the 3TB still works fine. This drive was bought for use with the new 2019 iMac--I wanted more space for large photo and video files. Reformatting for Mac is effortless and takes only a few minutes with Disk Utility. One thing I like about the Seagates is that they make little noise when working. Some drives sound like they are shredding your data--not these.

Seagate 8TB External
This is exactly as stated its an 8 TB External USB 3.0 drive. It is very functional and fast. Cheapest way to get a 8TB HD
Cheapest way to get a 8TB HD. Open this up and remove the drive and you just saved yourself some $$ over buying a bare internal HD I have 5 of the and they work flawlessly.

Fast reliable drive with Seagate Barracuda inside most
Im not sure why, but Seagates external 8TB drives are much less expensive than their 8TB Barracuda internal drives. It makes a great, reliable external drive. In a pinch (see youtube) it also makes a great internal drive. I have 7 of them and not one failure yet, knock on wood.

Good Value Drive.
This drive was easy to set up. It is fast and works flawlessly. I bought this unit to replace another brand drive that failed almost immediatley after it was purchased. I would certainly buy another.

Looks like hard drive works like a hard drive
I reformatted quickly to a Mac compliant drive and filled it up and now sits on a shelf hopefully to never be called upon for the real test.

Died after only one backup
This died after only backing up once. A couple of weeks after backing it up, I plugged it back into my PC to do another backup, and it just beeped and I could hear the arm motor try to move. Very disappointed.

Not in purpose of carrying everywhere, if you hate weight
A good choice after dealing with 5 Hard drives of 1TB and 500GB. Perfect for making backups of my whole video and audio stuff. No need to worry anymore about losing my smaller external hard drives with personal information.

My second Seagate Expansion drive

Meets expectations
Ive had this expansion drive for about a month now, and very happy with it. It works as intended which is all you could want from a hard drive. It is decently quiet, I can hardly hear hear it over the soft hum of my desktop. Speeds around 100 mb/s. Nothing negative to say. So far so good.

More cables
Just to make things clear. Actual storage is 7.3 TB., it needs to plug in external power to make it work. Not made for traveling a lot. Its noisy, but I Always wear headphones. Could have been awesome to plug two devices at the same time, but its fine

Works fine
So far, so good. Goes to sleep when the computer does, which should increase its life. If the drive lasts for a couple of years, five stars are appropriate, but if it should fail tomorrow, I would give it only one star.

Great backup drive
Bought two, back up to both so if one eventually fails I still have data. Not the fastest drive but for backup its price performance is excellent.

Excellent external hard drive
I have a 3 year old Dell 2tb computer which is full, mainly because of photos, large photos from a Nikon D800. I have tried backing up my files on small portable hard drives oh, but it gets confusing on where everything is. Im so glad I got this hard drive as I have transferred over a hundred thousand photos to a folder, just by dragging and dropping, and I still have so much room. So glad I went with the a terabyte external hard drive as I can keep everything more organized. I highly recommend the Seagate 8tb expansion desktop external hard drive.

I own 3 of these
After switching from Canon to the GH5, my file sizes were upped in a big way. After a ton of research, I decided to not spend almost double the price for G-tech drives or LaCie. I know both of those are really reliable drives, but Ive never had any issues with any Seagate drives Ive owned. Perfect for a NAS backup
I have a Netgear ReadyNAS network attached storage box and I used this 8TB drive to backup my NAS. This is not a fast drive and I wouldnt use it for anything but a backup and to store large files that you dont use often. It works perfectly for doing incremental backups After the initial copy (which can take awhile if you have a lot of data) Im only updating files that change. My NAS is setup to automatically copy and adds/changes/deletes and this drive is great fit for that task.

Serves the purpose

package is fine. needs a special power supply (it does come with one) so can't work off a USB power cord. capacity only 7.27 GB rather than 8 GB.

Pretty good drive but a few issues
I have Windows XP and I purchased a PCI card with USB 3.0 ports on it to interface with the Seagate drives. Unfortunately, In the small print on a PDF I got from the Seagate web site, not in the published sales information, was the requirement that it required Windows 7 or later OS.
