Not happy with this
Was excited to get this but am not at all happy. The tripod is stiff and difficult to close, some of the leg sections and have to be nearly forced to close. The ball head is also difficult and stiff. Compared to my Benro this is a waste of money. What I do like is it is tall enough.

Nice and Smooth
Very sturdy. You can feel that it is a very well made head by how smooth it is.I would buy this again

Easy to use ball head
It is easy to move from tripod to monopod. The notch for portrait orientation is right on. The degree markings on the base aren't very useful as the camera is loose as you pan using that dial markings. If the tripod has a pan action below the head, that is easier to use. I haven't found a way to loosen the head to pan without dumping the camera off level. I had hoped for a 2-way lever for locking.

Great Tripiod for the price.
This is my first Tripod. I use it for my Nikon D7000. Price was right and it's very easy to use. I paired it with the Oben BE-117 Ball Head. Just right for what I needed.

Paires great with my tripod
I paired with my new Oben AC-2361 3-Section Aluminum Tripod Legs (Flip Lock0. Works great together. Easy to use,and good price. Have no trouble locking down my Nikon D7000 with the quick-release system.

Huge Value
This is my first Ball Head, and I'm super impressed. This head is extremely easy to use. I combined this head with the Oben CC-2331 Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs and could not be happier. Got this combo for hiking and travel, very light, yet strong and well built. Highly recommended for the money.

completely love!
I really love the ball head and quick release, along with the tripod have made some difficult shots much easier.

Sturdy and stable
Can handle large lenses and not vibrate. The flip lock is easy to use. Sets up in minutes.

Much better than expected
I am still in the honeymoon phase of owning this ball head, but honestly I couldn't be happier. The controls are silky smooth, the ball movement is just as silky. The adjustments aren't touchy, so it's really easy to dial in just the right amount of tension time and time again. The clamp screw is captive so it is impossible to accidentally unscrew it all the way. The only real complaint is the universal plate. It attaches via a hex-head allen wre... Show More

Bubble Level not perfectly synchronized
This is my first ball head support for me. I am using it for my monopod. It could hold the weight of my camera with its 28-105mm lens, battery grip and my sb-800 flash. The only issue that I see its that the circle bubble level does not synchronized accurately by a hair with the x and y axis bubble level on its side. I see one of the axis does not match up with the circle bubble level. But I am able use it by the best of me getting close as possi... Show More

Lightest tripod
My measure of its weight is 970 grams and it's simply lightweight. 8.8 lbs capability is quite enough for my system, but may not be enough for everybody. Please mind that carbon fiber is really good at bouncing and you'd better use a wire/wireless release.BTW, I got this bundle $ off. There was a $ off for both of the components and BH (accidentally) offered an extra $ off for this bundle.

Better than Manfrotto equivalent
I bought this to replace a Manfrotto 498RC2 which is elsewhere at the moment, to be used on my Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 carbon fiber legs. The ball is much smoother than on my Manfrotto head, and the knobs tighten without altering the positioning of the ball and the pan. This head feels much better made than the Manfrotto (even though it's less expensive), which is contrary to my impression of the legs, where the Oben felt less sure, less precise and ... Show More

high hopes for not
The tripod was very functional and worked great in my garage. My first trip to the field, however, one of the twist locks broke.

Great Ballhead, Plate Mechanism Not so M
This ball head is smooth, compact and easy to use. I wish it had come without the clamping system, which I found awkward and cumbersome; not the least bit intuitive.

Solid piece of kit to own
This is my first professional grade ball head and I am very impressed. I don't have a lot to compare it to but everything I have seen from it is perfect. Very easy to use and stays in place when you lock it.

Not Perfect
Well made with one major flaw, it will not hold my canon 50d with ef-s 18-200 on the vertical. The quick release plate will not tighten enough to prevent creeping. The plate has a retractable pin to prevent creeping but it is useless if there is no provision for it on the camera.

Excellent Buy!
I'm a Masters student studying Greater Prairie-Chickens and an amateur wildlife/landscape photographer on the side. I have traveled the continental U.S. to do research on game birds, island foxes, deer, and small mammals to name a few. Unfortunately, I have not had a tripod-ball head setup until now which is really depressing when you consider that fact that I can only afford an old Sigma lens with no stabilizer. I bought this ball head because I... Show More

Great tripod
First carbon tripod I have purchased or used. Much nicer to carry while hiking than my old aluminum one. It is also more stable and easier to setup than the old one.

Decent for Macro
I purchased this to go with my Vanguard Alta Pro 264AT 4-Section Aluminum Tripod for use in macro photography. I wanted something that I could easily manipulate, close to the ground with the camera inverted. I also wanted something that would be relatively small. This head does a pretty good job meeting my requirements, although I have found that it does sag just a little after tightening down. I am happy enough that I ordered a second one to go on my monopod.

Surprisingly perfect
This ball head has every feature you need for a fraction of the price. The only drawback you may encounter is its load capacity. Personally I do not have an issue with this but if you have a heavier kit you should obviously find a ball head that supports your requirements. The head is sturdy and does not budge when tension is applied. The head is very light, almost to light. Personally I would like the head to have a wider and more weighted base.... Show More

Does the job
So far so good. Like the light weight yet sturdy build. The only reason for 4 stars is i don't care for the quick release plate. It needs to be tighter than i care to torque it down on my camera or it rotates when panning. It helps to put an index mark on the quick release to make it easier to put on.

Strong Tripod
If you use a heavy camera with big lenses this tripod will do more than just fine. I've used this item for almost a year now and it just great. Stabilizes my Nikon D700 and 80-200mm lens without a problem. Legs locks are very durable. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that the O ring on the bottom of the column had to be thicker to prevent scraping on the legs. That's no biggie, I got that fixed. Other than that, its simple, strong and serves it's purpose well.

Simply Amazing
I've been using a cheap tripod for years. Recently one of the legs broke but was still usable. Finally got sick of it and bought this because of the price and reviews and I'm glad I did. This thing is so sturdy has so many positions! From taller than me to ant level, I can get shots from so many different angles. I'll never buy another cheap tripod again!
