Great for Large Echoing Spaces

I recently had to film something in an older building that was almost completely covered in hard surfaces. We needed to boom it but that would require a mic with heavy side cancellation. This Mic did a phenomenal job at producing great vocal tones without any serious echo. It does need to be kept in closer proximity than you would with a longer shotgun for best results, however, it is worth it!

I ordered this mic and a Sennheiser MKE600 to compare them as inexpensive backup mics. Well, I am shocked. I compared this mic to the Schoeps CMC1/CUT60/MK41 and the Schoeps Mini-CMIT and although this mic would rank 3rd in that group it is shockingly similar to the Mini-CMIT in sound quality and pattern. Just a little smaller sounding than CMIT. Very natural sounding off axis. You just need to get a proper shockmount to firmly hold the back of the mic and keep any mounting hardware off the interference tube grille. There are more shockmount options for the Mini-CMIT (like Cinela) . Here I would use the stiff Rycote InVision INV-7 HG mkIII Microphone Shock Mount and pinch 1/2 the XLR connector and 1/2 the mic body end in it, also the correct Softie would be the Bubblebee Windkiller Medium Length: 154 mm (6.0") Anyway at $850 I think this mic is a real sleeper. A great value. Excellent sound. a great backup --- compares to the Sennheiser 416 and an amazing choice for on camera compact short shotgun - just keep all the grill vents clear of any mounting hardware. ... More

Shooting with an 8mm fisheye a lot and needed a high quality mic that wouldn't enter the wide shot. This mic does the job perfectly!
