I read a great review of these AKG Perception series mics, so with a bit of skepticism I ordered a pair for our college's media production program. We had few small capsule condensors for our students to try - and these are priced just right for experimantation. But since I've run comparisons with other mics in our fleet (Sennheisers, A-T, Sonys) I am bowled over by the low self-noise and great siound. Surprisingly clear and versatile

This was recommended to me by a friend to help record some demos on acoustic guitar. Pointing the head at the 12th fret of the guitar, about 18 inches away, I got a sound that was clear, natural, and balanced nicely between tonal and percussive noises. For another song, where we had to record an electric guitar amp, I threw it in front of the speaker, and it captured that better than anything else I'd tried before. I gave this a 4/5 because you’re not going to blow anyone away with the audio quality but you’ll blow them away when you tell ‘em how much you paid for the microphone. It hits above my expectations, especially after reading some not-so-favorable reviews. I used this on a Yamaha FS5 and the aftermath was a flat and relatively articulate recording. I would recommend this to anyone on a budget and even professionals on a budget. Absolutely.

Wonderful versatile SDC. Amazing on all acoustic instruments. Stands up to microphones costing 10 times as much like the KM184. Oh... don't lose the stand adapter... I hear they are expensive! lol
Good Choir Stage Mic

Great mic for the price, Sturdy as hell and a fairly versatile mic. I've only had it for about a week, but it's been used on upright bass, snare, and acoustic and it really ain't a bad mic all around. Definitely worth the money if you're on a low budget and need a small capsule condenser

Great mics for the price. Using as overheads for my drum kit and can't say enough about them. Nice balance while picking up the highs I need. I had to play with the mid's a little, but great overall.

This mic was purchased to record an acoustic guitar. After comparing it to the Samson Gtrack mic I decided to return it. The sound was a bit to muddy for me. The Gtrack sounded much better.
