WD 6TB My Book Desktop USB 3.0 External Hard Drive
Works well; high capacity.
I use this hard drive as a backup for my MacBook Pro and second hard drive. It works very well. Only small issue, is that is must be formatted for use on a Mac. To be sure, this reformatting is quite easy. The 6TB size is nice and large, plenty of room to backup a 4TB external drive and the internal drive on the Mac.

Very nice and fast hard drive
I bought 2 of these drives to replace 1yr old Seagate drives that, from day one, refused to connect to the PC on power-up. I would have to unplug the USB 3 cable, wait a few seconds, and plug them back in. Repeated calls to Seagate yielded nothing. I even replaced the USB 3 cables with expensive gold plated cables which did nothing to fix the problem. (one of the Seagate drives actually stopped running USB 3 and switched to USB 2). Good for Mac Time Machine Backups
I use this drive for Time Machine backup for my 13 MacBookPro. I used the Apple Disc Utility to format the disk first, and it has worked perfectly. Because my MacBookPro is an older model and has USB2, FireWire and Thunderbolt ports, and this WD drive has USB 3, I had to buy a Thunderbolt to USB 3 adapter to get high speed data transfer to the drive. Unfortunately, these adapters are expensive. I wish this drive had a light to show when the disc is active (the previous WD external drive I used had a light, I replaced it only because it was full and I want to keep old backups).

Works fine, louder than previous offerings.
Works fine after 3 months however it seems to be a bit louder than the previous version. Not a real issue for me as its purely for occasional backups however it might drive me crazy for daily use.

Video Editing and mirror back up
Bought two of these as a double backup RAID drive for my video files and work on 3/2/17. Impressed with the build quality and packaging. Using on a Mac laptop. They are ever so slightly loud when you plug them in to the wall unit. I wish read and write times were faster. Bang for buck though seems to be worth it.

Good price for the size, but slow drive.
I purchased this drive to use as a network attached storage device to store our music, movies, photos, etc. It's a great price for the capacity, but it is very slow and is constantly spinning down. I would only recommend this as a backup drive for this purpose or connected directly to your computer.

Great buy and large capacity.
Decent speed and large storage capacity make this drive a winner. I am using it to not only back up my entire system, but as an additional drive. I do wish that the unit had a light on it to let you know that it was active. The drive is very quiet. B and H service and prices are always great and I enjoy shopping there.

Nice Drive Excellent Price.
Appears so far to be an excellent hard drive with a large amount of storage space. Is light weight and is decent sized. Does seem to vibrate a little more than my other drives when the disk is spinning, but that's no big deal for what I'm using this drive for. The only bad thing that I have discovered so far is that it supposedly won't work with Win XP (haven't had time to try it out and make sure yet) which is one of the computers that I had planned on using this drive to backup.

Probably and overkill for me but couldn't pass up the great price! Out of the box I was backing up my system in less than 5 minutes. Moved it to my VR system and backed that one up as well. Very user friendly and well worth the price.

Reasonably fast with storage and retrieval of files! Very quiet! I use it for large photo files from several different cameras. An external storage of this nature is a requirement for the handling of digital photograph files!

Solid Investment....
....it appears so far. This is my second WD backup drive, and my first is still going strong and running flawlessly. I've tried ClickFree as a long-term storage solution, and it's been a bit of a nightmare. I bought this drive to replace it in fact, because I don't trust the aforementioned. Pretty good
Looks nice. The speeds are good. In case you wanna swap the HDD in this case, you ought to cut the VCC leg of a flash chip on the board - shame on you, WD, for preventing people swapping the inside HDD.

I trust WD drives and HGST drives across the board with a great track record. Works exactly as expected

Works fine when it stays connected
This drive works fine except periodically it will go to sleep and the system cannot see it. You then have to unplug it and plug it back in; sometimes you have to reboot. I contacted WD and they suggested I plug it directly into my Mac and ensure I have have latest updates to my system. I do have the latest updates and it is plugged directly int my computer. For any drives I purchase in the future, I will stick with Seagate as none of my Seagate drives have ever had this issue.

Could not write to drive
I purchased two of these drives and both of them had issues when I tried to write to them. They would work sometimes, then about once per day I would get a message that I was not able to write to the drive. Both drives had the same issue so it was not isolated to just one drive. I called up WD and they didn't have an answer so I'm returning them. I have about 12 other WD drives and they've all worked flawlessly but I would stay away from this model.

NO GOOD!
Not as fast as their previous model that replaced this, very slow for being 3.0 and some of my AVI, MPEG, MKV video and jpeg files don't show on samsung smart TVs like their previous model did, I thought this was a problem with this hard drive and when I bought a second one I had the same problem , never had that issue with their previous version of their external HDs 4Tb, very disappointed with these hard drives, plus no light to show me that it...
