MeFOTO BackPacker Travel Tripod (Titanium)

Unstable at any speed
Folds down to a small portable size. However it is not a stable tripod. The leg angle (for it's tallest setting) is very narrow and the legs are too thin. I tried it with a micro 4/3rd camera with a pro (heavy) lens and was not impressed with the vibration and unsteadiness of this tripod. It is top heavy. I would not put a full-size dslr on this. Only paid half the normal price thanks to a B&H promotion so I ended up giving it to one of my Grandchildren. She uses it with her smartphone and she loves it.

I would be happy to buy this again, if lost or stolen
This is my first travel tripod (already own five other tripods). Obviously, I bought it for times when weight and space are at a premium, such as taking along on a long hike. The design is very clever, but takes a little longer to set up than less compact types. Still, I am extremely glad to have this tripod as one of my choices. The 5Dsr needs a tripod more than other cameras, and I can take this ultralight anywhere I need that stability. Nice to have, nice price. I had to try it out - 5 exposure HDR.

Very Light, Usable Tripod
Everything works very well (as expected). The minimum height is 17 inches, which can be too tall for some. I had to flip the tripod upside down for some of my landscape shots where I needed to be much closer to the ground. Other than this, the tripod will preform exceptionally. If you have heavier gear, the tripod will become quite unstable higher up. Note: This will not work will if you have to pan or move the camera while shooting. It is best suited for still landscape shots or still portrait shots.

Best travel tripod available...
I travel a lot and have been looking for a sturdy yet lightweight tripod. I purchased this a few months back and I must say I am very satisfied. Its been half way around the world, through rain, sand, mud and snow and has never let me down. It supports my heavy body, D300+MBD10 grip + 24-70mm and is very sturdy, very remarkable. Not only is it lightweight but its also superquick to setup and pack up which is always a great feature. Also the blue colour really turns heads, not something I expected.

Works and is compact and, well sort of light.
The tripod is beautifully made and well put together. It is a quality item. I use it with a Samsung NX3000 which is a small mirrorless camera and it is plenty stable for that. Would I put my D750 with the 200-500 F5.6 on it? No not in a million years. Bu then again I don't backpack with that rig :). I didn't think I would like the twist locks but I do. Bottom line if you are using a small camera/lens, don't mind carrying 2.2 extra pounds and need something that folds up small this fits the bill.

Performs well in the field
I researched several travel/hiking tripods and there are many that appear to do the job. I am very happy with this BackPacker by MeFOTO. I like the quick release which many travel tripods lack. I also like having the small level bubble. The total working height is very tall given the small folded size. I can attach the tripod in its case or out of the case to D rings on my pack very easily or keep it in the pack. I am using it with a Fuji XT-1 and may use this as my every day and travel tripod.

MeFoto Tripod Perfection
Having the perfect tripod doesn't mean you have to pay an arm & a leg! This tripod is very compact, lightweight & cost effective! It will easily fit into my Lowpro Hatchback 16L AW backpack. Very sturdy with the legs opened up at the 2nd widest position. I'm a little weary about having it fully extended with the legs at the 1st position, which would give it the most height. With that said, it is a travel tripod so this would be expected. Overall I would highly recommend it!

Good enough, if it's on sale
Not the sturdiest tripod I've ever used, but it's sturdy enough.Got it mostly because it was 60% off.The twist locks are a bit slow to deploy, levers would have been nicer. It folds down nice, but is a bit heavier than I would have liked. The ball head it alright, though I am probably going to get another one that's a little sturdier. Comes with a nice traveling case, which I wear with the shoulder strap. Overall not bad, but there are better options for the money.

Excellent, very light weight, solid
I have teamed this with a PT4Pano rotating head and dedicated nodal point bracket from the same manufacturer, and use this rig with a DP2 Merrill. All together, the kit weighs almost nothing, and I walk in the mountains with it every day. I am shooting 47 portrait image panoramas that rival medium format in image quality. The stitching program I use (PTGui) shows me that the little MeFoto is pixel-stable, and a perfectly satisfactory platform for this task.

Best money I've EVER spent...
I purchased this tripod for its lightweight, compact size for a road trip I took to Big Sur and couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. It's a well engineered product that's supper compact yet sturdy enough to hold my Canon 5D Mark III with a 14mm lens. Beyond it's sturdy platform and good looks is a tripod offering great VALUE at it's $ retail price. I would recommend this product to anyone as it's sure to surpass your expectations as a travel tripod.

Awesome
Its light, its compact, I was suprised how well it fits into my carry-on. I could pull it out of the backpack and set it up in less than 30 sec. The ball head is easy to use and the stand is easy to set-up. The stand itself is a little shaky but i guuess some of it could be overcome by suspending weights. I would gicve it 5/5 for portability and ease of use. If would give it 3.5/5 on stbaility( vibrations).Camera: Nikon D7000 with AF DX 18-105 mm lense

Good, but not perfect
I bought this sight unseen for a trip to the Caribbean where I was to shoot photos and video for our website. The tripod is well made and very compact, but it is a bit heavy for its size. The screw-in base plate system is not as elegant as Manfrotto's friction hold, but it is usable. The ball-head is very nice, but better suited to photos and not video. The screw-type leg extenders are more clumsy than the clip-style and take longer to extend/retract.

A Great Tripod
Light, compact and yet provides good support when using a heavy camera and lens. The availability of numerous color options doesn't hurt either as each is quite cool and provides a high tech appearance. Although I haven't found the need, a center hook is provided that can be used to increase the tripods stability by hanging a weighted object on it. The tripod even comes with a very usefull carrying case. All-in-all I'm very pleased with this tripod.

awesome little travel tripod
I put a d810 with grip and 12-24 2.8 lens on this and it gets it done! The legs fold outward for a lower and more stable profile. This is a great option in addition to standard leg position. The ball head adjustment knob is great. It is a little bouncy with a heavy camera and lens, but I put my camera bag on the hook and it helps a lot. It's awesome, I use it over my larger more stable tripods often. For stars or macro I might go heavier though.

Perfect lightwieght hiking tripod
I bought this as a tripod that I can use while out hiking. It is lightweight and fits easily into my backpack when folded, or is easy to carry when extended in between shots. I am impressed that it was able to hold steady long enough to get long exposure photos with my Nikon D810 and a 16-35mm Nikon lens while being hit with waves. I have included two sample images to show what I was able to get. Perfect lightweight, inexpensive travel tripod.

Works great, very lightweight
I purchased this tripod over the Manfrotto BeFree Compact tripod solely on price and reviews. So far I've really enjoyed this tripod. It is lightweight, attaches to my camera bag, and I can quickly and easily pull out for use. Very nice quality of the materials. I have a 5D Mark3 and a 70-200 affixed to the tripod and it can easily hold the gear steady and not cause any shaking. Images stay in crisp and in focus. I would recommend this tripod.

Best travel tripod on the market
I fly for a living, and all my photo gear are things that are as good as possible and as compact as possible. The BackPacker delivers on every criteria I was looking for: durability, stability, extended height, folded size, and mount/ballhead. If I were not so space-constrained, of course the RoadTripper gives you more of everything at the expense of being not as compact when folded, but the BackPacker wins on all criteria for a travel tripod.

Compact winner
This will replace my much more delicate point and shoot tripod which doesn't raise up to a comfortable height. This one raises high enough to bend over and actually use the viewfinder. It was purchased as a companion for my Sony Nex kit, but could hole a DSLR compentently with anything less than a large telephoto lens on it. The best pleasant surprise is that the ball head quick release system eill accept Really Right Stuff L brackets.

Good travel tripod
The best tripod for you is the one which gets the most use. This one is light weight, and folds up to easily fit in pack - its portability can easily make this your best one. The stabilizer hook is recessed so it doesn't catch on anything when you fold it up. Positioning of bubble level puts the Arca plate release under lens if you're using the level with camera on the tripod. Depending on your camera, that might make it a bit awkward.

I Love this Tripod
I have about 6 various tripods/monopods and I just need 1 of each tops. The reason i kept buying them is that i was always looking for sturdiness mixed with flexibility, reliability, durability and portability in a single tripod. I have finally found it ALL in this one tripod and i am selling every other one that I own. It fits inside my backpack without making it bulge, even when all of my regular items are inside of it.

nice tripod but not for me
I was looking for a quick setup tripod. The twist legs changed my mind as it was time consuming for me. And, with a touch of arthritis in my hands, I'm going back to the flip lock version. It does fold up very small - great for travel and packing.... but it is also quite fat. Rather have to deal with more length versus the fatness when packing. Otherwise, if my issues aren't your issues, this is a really nice tripod.

Great Buy. Solid Tripod.
The size and stability of this tripod is great for both travel and at home shooting. I have a Nikon D750 and this thing is rock steady with a 70-200 on it(especially if I hang a sandbag from the bottom hook). It raises up to a decent height and for what I need it is absolutely perfect. The bag it comes with is also very helpful as it is a convenient travel size and provides convenient straps for hands-free carrying.

It works
I was looking for a tripod to take with me backpacking. I had an opportunity to try out both the Backpacker and the slightly larger MeFOTO Roadtrip, and while that one had a more comfortable height for me it ultimately came down to weight and this one felt significantly lighter (it's also lighter than the more expensive carbon fiber version of the Roadtrip). Looking forward to taking this all over this backcountry!
