Beautiful piece of equipment

Apr 29, 2019

I bought this hoping for a sturdy tripod head to secure a Linhof Master Technika 4 x 5 view camera. Naturally it fits manfrotto tripod and holds camera well allowing fine and secure adjustments. Easy to avoid handles by placing all three in direction of lens on tripod. Quick release works perfectly when understood.

Love it! Rugged and tough!

Jul 24, 2018

I absolutely love this tripod head. I own a professional studio, and this is my fourth one of the same head over the years. It's very rugged and precise. I use it both on a camera stand in the studio and on a tripod outside of the studio. I shoot a wide range of photography, but it's both quick for senior photos or kids while also being precise for product photography. Please note, I would give this a 5-star rating, because honestly, i... Show More

replacement for 17 year old part

May 7, 2018

I bought a great Manfrotto Bogen tripod 17 years ago and it's still going strong. I attached this part to a jib/crane that I have and I guess over all the years it stayed attached and I can't get it off the jib. I decided I wanted to start using the tripod for other uses other than jib work but couldn't get the plate off the jib it's connected to. Got on BandH and found a replace part. I can in and I slapped in on the tripod. Works like a charm.

A bit more than average price for a plate, but Manfrotto is an outstanding brand, fits perfectly , sturdy and very easy to find in B&H.

Fantastic ! ! !

Nov 20, 2017

I never dreamed that I would be able to find a replacement Quick Release Plate for my Bogen #3040 tripod - after all, it's no spring chicken. However the Manfrotto 030-14 Hex is a PERFECT replacement - fits like a champ - as an old friend of mine would say, "Just like store bought!" I had a feeling this would be the case, so I went ahead and ordered two right off the bat - SURE AN GLAD I DID ! ! ! I can't remember the name of the Tech that helped... Show More

Best tripod head I have ever used

Nov 20, 2017

Put this head on a sturdy set of tripod legs and you have a winning combo. At our studio we also attach our video projectors to this head. It handles the weight without a problem, even when you turn the projector on its side.

229 Super Pro Head All around Great!

This is a solid unit. Holds in every position. Solid as a Rock. It's not light and I would not consider it portable. Consider this for studio use. Erick V

The 229 Super Pro Head came well machined, and well finished. It moves smoothly through all of its axis of rotation, and easily locks firmly in place.

The most solid head I own

Mar 6, 2017

I had a heavier Manfrotto Tripod I had bought to use when I was doing video projects for a client. These day, most of my work is commercial stills. This head is rock solid and very precise to work with. It stays exactly where it was set with my 9 lb. camera setup.

Easy to order

Nov 30, 2016

We had two great tripods in storage that only needed the quick release plates replaced. For an item that is easy to misplace, it was very easy to find it online and make the purchase. We're back in action with the two additional tripods!

Quick Release Plate

I like that they have a solid connection with the rest of the tripod. The new rubber pad works way better than the old cork pad. With heavier lenses I feel like I have enough metal to hold everything stable and of course works well even with lighter lenses.

Nice head with an old school feel

I like this head compared to the 410 due to its old school feel. I don't know why there is not an option without quick release anymore but I really like this head.

Great for large format cameras

Jun 15, 2016

This unit easily handles my metal frame 4x5 field camera, a weighty lens, and hood. I had been using a Manfroto ball head and could never get the tension tight enough to handle the weight. The quality from Manfroto is superb and the head is nicely designed with clear markings on all adjustments. The three built in bubble levels are also very helpful.

Great Grip, No Gripes

May 15, 2016

This quick-release plate is easy to attach (just give it a screw)to most any DSLR camera or peripheral. It fits snug into my Bogen 3047 tripod head, and the quick-release trigger functions just as well as the original plate. As a product reviewer and news contributor, I need a reliable quick-release plate that won't break the bank. This fits the bill!

Solid head but long handle won't point down with tripod legs

May 10, 2016

Nice, solid construction. Only complaint after one use in the field is that it does not easily fit into a camera bag: All the handles stick out all over. The longest handle has a spring that could easily get lost if long handle is removed from head. The two shorter handles do not and can be easily unscrewed and put into a camera bag. The longest handle cannot be positioned to point down parallel to tripod legs.

Great head!

Nov 10, 2015

This head is a workhorse at my place of employment. We've used these for years and they only occasionally break (usually from being dropped). They are pretty heavy duty and hold medium format cameras easily. They even hold large format cameras (Sinar) with ease. The only negative thing, which isn't really a negative, is that they're are pretty heavy. If you're looking for something to travel with, I wouldn't recommend this one. Too big and bulky. Other than that, this is a great one.

Nice, smooth, heavy pan head

Oct 4, 2015

I use this in studio for product shots. I like the smooth motion and the ability to accurately square my camera to the product. It's rock solid especially for DSLRs with long lenses, almost over kill but I like that. The only drawback is; it doesn't tilt up very much for those low angle shots, because the handle hits its own base. I have had to turn the camera 180 on the head and then I get all the tilt I need, but it's a little awkward because now the handles are not where you expect them. Most times you won't run into this situation, but there is that work around.
