Rock solid

Dec 4, 2012

I purchased this for a Scene Machine that I purchased used and came without a quick release plate. I was pleased with the price and purchased two, but I was more impressed with how solid it made the whole unit. It was a great investment. And, as you know, BH's service was just about as fast as it can get.

Must have if shooting with two cameras

Sep 2, 2012

I bought an extra release because there are times when i'm shooting with two different camras and I don't want to have to unscrew one camera each time i want to switch to the other. I'ts also probably a good idea to have two incase you lose the other one.

Extra mounting plates come in handy!

Jul 5, 2012

At our studio we use have several sets going on at the same time. Having the same mounting plates throughout the studio smooths transitions and saves time. Having a few extra plates around is yet another time saving advantage!

Have the Manfrotto RC4 3-way head on my Bogan tripod. Like it so much, I purchased another quick release plate for my other camera. Saves a lot of time when you have a plate on all the camera, instead of switching.

Quick Release Plate for my favorite head

Jun 18, 2012

I use this on my second camera for my Manfrotto Junior Geared Head. The head is solid, the plate, though large, is just as big as the battery grip on my canon, and allows me to screw in accessories to the bottom still.

A simple needed accessory

Jan 24, 2012

Instead of just using the RC$ that came with the head, this was purchased to make it easier to attach the 70-200mm and 400 mm lenses instead of taking the extra time to unmount and mount another lens or camera. Not a necessity, but for convenience, it saves some time and your not fumbling for a coin to tighten or loosen.

This thing is heavy duty. Bottom can thumbscrew, but you should have a screwdriver or coin handy to tighten it. Includes two removable screw mounts. This thing is BIG. If you have say, a 5D Mark II or smaller, this thing will stick out, somewhat uncomfortable, into your left hand. Hopefully, I'll get over this, but I haven't used it enough to be sure if it's a big deterant.

Great addition/ Replacement

Sep 13, 2011

Exactly the one that comes with any Manfrotto RC4 head. Purchased to have as a secondary one when using multiple cameras on one tripod. Comes with both 1/4 and 5/8 mounting screws. After two weeks I cant tell which one is the new one and which one is the old one, Manfrotto products hold up extremely well. You do have to use a swiss army knife or a coin to secure it to the camera but this is not a problem at all.

Very secure mounting. Two screws provided -- 1/4 and 3/8 -- is a plus. Can be tricky to put on the head sometimes with a large camera (Mamiya RZ67), better with a DSLR.

I have an RC808 head for which I ordered an additional release plate. I keep one release plate attached to my camera and the other to the lens ring of my Sigma 150mm macro lens. Jan 23, 2011

The plate removes very easily, which is good because it is very small....it really only holds a couple of bites of food. But that's OK - just release it, load it back up with mashed taters or apple pie or whatever, clamp it back to the tripod and chow down. Seems to be dishwasher safe.

But I hasten to add that the icing on the cake is the 410PL RC4 Quick Release plate. This plate is no delicate little princess that perches gingerly on the tripod head. It's big and strong, and locks into place with all the certainty and sound effects of the steel barred gates of prison (as seen on TV). ;-) Like the 808RC4, the ... Show More
