Light and sturdy
This is easily the best tripod I've ever had. It is light, and very sturdy. Even fully extended, it doesn't fell all vulnerable and spindly like others do. Solid stuff, and the quality is self evident. I bought mine to anchor an Edelkrone Pro Med slider, which can hold 30lbs (14kg), but only if mounted on a solid tripod... since it moves 18 (500mm), it could easily tip over if you had a tripod that is too small, or too weak. The Manfroto o55 hand... Show More

Should've gotten this the first time
Normally I'm on the move catching shots from different angles in the venue I'm involved in. Occasionally I'll shoot video and need something more stable than a monopod or the head I currently use which isn't made to pan. The 391RC2 is an affordable solution to the fluid filled movement I'd like to use, very smooth to pan with. A bubble balance would be a nice addition, as would an extra locking device to secure the spring loaded lever that holds ... Show More

Well made and excellent value
This is a sturdy and compact tripod head. I originally bought it to replace the head on a 30-year-old tripod for which the old head's quick-mount plate had long ago disappeared and is no longer made. This new Manfrotto head mates perfectly with all my Manfrotto quick-mount plates and is solid as a rock. While some reviewers have noted difficulty adjusting drag, I have not encountered that problem; all adjustments are easy and precise. While I cou... Show More

High Quality
These items - the tripod and the head - are nicely made high quality items made in Italy. All the parts work smoothly. The tripod is stable. The weight capacity is fairly high. The center column can be moved to horizontal which is useful for straight on overhead shots of objects. The feet do seem to slip fairly easily on a smooth, hard floor. This isn't really a problem, but if the feet were a softer rubber or polymer of some type, it might be an... Show More

Worth Every Penny.
Okay, Im 6'2'' and this tripod comes up to me without having to hunch over. Love it! But if I want to lie on the ground and shoot this tripod can do it as well. The (4) that's right 4 bubble levels insures that anyone can take a level shot. Has a hook for hanging a sandbag if needed. For some heavier lenses in windy areas that hook will come in good use. Haven't had the chance to use the 360 degree tilting center column. This function alone would... Show More

Great tripod (with a couple of issues...)
I love this tripod! The levelers for each axis are wonderful and the tripod can be adjusted to fit in just about any configuration you need! I've used it on rocks, right near the ground, and on a very steep hill with no problems. The issues: Be careful extending the legs. If you just let them drop, they will occasionally drop right off! I don't know if I just got a loose bolt or what... Also, be careful when you fully extend the center pole. I pu... Show More

Excellent quality
From all tripod heads I already had, this is really good. Really worth every dollar spent on it. For non pro photographers, it's very important to understand that this head do not have handles, so all setting is done by handling your camera, than locking the head (but this can be done easily). I'm using it with my new Canon 7D with IS lenses and Canon 430EX flash, that is not a light combination, and this really works very well with it. I bought ... Show More

Simple and sturdy tripod
Great tripod! I've owned two cheap tripods over the years that eventually break, but this Manfrotto feels solid! At 7.7 lbs its light enough to hike with but sturdy enough for a Canon C100 Mark II with a Canon 100-400 mm telephoto lens. The head is more for photos, but I think it does fine for video too. I really like the 3-way pan/tilt head as it makes leveling the camera and setting up shots quick and easy, so you don't have to perfectly adjust... Show More

Good little set of sticks
After much research and trials I settled on Manfrotto sticks. I was spoiled all these years by Gitzo sticks which would set up anywhere without a spreader from a few inches off the ground to close to six feet high with me on tiptoes. I wanted the same versatility without the tremendous weight and Manfrotto sticks were designed to deliver. The same independent leg angle clicks for crazy and challenging terrain, no need for a spreader, gets down lo... Show More

Fantastic
This is the first ball head I have used and I really wish I would have ditched the pan/tilt earlier than I had. The range of motion afforded is great whereas with my pan/tilt I constantly ran into situations where I couldn't position the camera as I'd intended. I don't have experience with any of the more sophisticated or expensive ball heads so I compare this one to those. I can say that this one seems perfectly capable of securely holding my ge... Solid tripod.
This tripod is my first real tripod and I don't know why I didn't get one sooner. It is solid, light and compact. I have the 54 magnesium ball head and this combo handles my 5d mk II with heavy L series lenses with no slipping what so ever. The only thing that makes me give it only 4 stars is that when not locked down the mechanism for shifting the center pole out for lower shots seems a little flimsy and I don't know how well it will wear throug... Can't beat it for the price
I love these ball heads. I am left handed and often use a camera / lense combination that is rather heavy for me. I attach a left handed flash bracket to this trigger with a remote shutter release velcroed to the bracket grip. With this setup I can guide the camera around on a monopod or tripod gripping the bracket in one hand and the trigger in the other with very little effort and great precision. I don't have to move my hand to loosen any knob... Show More

Great Tripod!
We use this tripod in an educational setting. Our library checks out various A/V equipment including camcorders, digital cameras and tripods. I love the fact that there is no plate the camera attaches to - which means no loose parts. The screw the camera attaches to stays permanently in place on the mount. We purchased two of these and Manfrotto makes a superior product. Yes we had a couple of tripods with bent legs due to someone not knowing wha... Show More

Good tripod that meet my needs
This tripod came as part of Manfrotto 502HD kit. It becomes my standard video tripod after months of researching. The MT055XPRO3 stands out as my choice because of its extra height which I found to be very important (I mostly took concert and band competition videos). This tripod is big and heavy compared to general photo tripods but is lighter than other video tripods I looked. The only surprise is that it does not come with a tripod bag and you... Show More

Hold this
Ok, not bad. A bit of getting used to. Ran a Nikon body with 70-200 and it was good. Not as stable as I would of liked. My tripod was built to handle the weight but ended up using a RRS ball head. Had better control with the ball head. I believe this would be just perfect for very static shots with wide angle lenses and up to 180mm. Beyond that its all about weight and a sturdy tripod. This devise does have some additional weight as well. This i... Show More

Better than kirk MPA-2 for monopod
I had been using the Kirk MPA-2 Monopod Head, but switched to this. It is much easier to adjust the azimuth with this grip than to twiddle with the knob on the kirk. I wish there were an arca-swiss adapter for it rather than needing to use the QR plate on all my lenses. I have not tried it with a heavy lens. With a 300mm f/4 + tc14 + d850 + battery grip, it can slip some. I've tried adjusting the tension screw, but have not gotten it 10... Show More

Great Ball Head
I have tried many ball heads, I have the area swiss and many others and they are all good and strong but they require the use of many knobs to get the camera to where you want them. The Grip action ballhead by Manfrotto is super strong and super quick. A squeeze of the trigger and the guess work is gone, no knobs to turn or tighten. This is truly one amazing ballhead. BUYERS BEWARE!!!
I purchased the 322RC2 Ball head at the end of January along with a Manfrotto 055CXPRO 3-SECTION TRIPOD. Since then I have purchased another Manfrotto Monopod and a Manfrotto Light stand. Was VERY happy with Manfrotto because of the workmanship. My ball head did have a little stick to it when moving back to forward, worked fine going from left to right. I thought it would work itself out but now three months later it has gotten worse, much worse. ... Show More

A very good option
I purchased this as a travel attachment for my 3 Legged Thing Alan Monopod. For travel abroad where lighter/smaller is better but you don't want to sacrifice the ability to put your daily use camera and lens combo onboard this is a great option. It holds a good bit of weight and works well with the monopod and both my Fuji cameras. Utilizing the standardized quick release plate is great as I don't have to swap out plates between the 2 ball heads ... Show More

Light and flexible
This is my first serious tripod head. I have a relatively heavy camera (Pentax K20D with a grip), so I was impressed by stability of a quick release and firm lock of the ball itself. New friction adjustment feature is very helpful. You need 2 hands to operate it - one pivots the camera by its grip, the other locks/unlocks the ball. You have to have the lock handle on the right side of the head for it to be convenient. I ended up tightening the fr... Show More

Hard to use
I've given up on this product. It's simply too hard to use. After repeated attempts to adjust the friction, it still behaves the same. When used with a 70-300 mm Canon telephoto it's incapable of locking the camera where I point it. It invariably shifts a few degrees down and my subject ends up being framed incorrectly. Readjusting the composition is almost impossible. The camera jerks uncontrollably and I have to reaquire the subject. I've tried... Show More
