My Next Tripod
I bought this tripod primarily for using in Real Estate and Architecture to replace an older tripod that I wore out over the past few years. Two primary reasons for picking this tripod was for the pivoting head to get around corners (such as bathrooms) and the tall height for those interiors with ceilings above 12 feet. This tripod feels heavy but really solid. I can pivot the center column with a geared head and full frame camera and it doesn't ... Show More

My MT190XPro3 Alumium Tripod / Manfrotto
I've had my tripod for about a month and I'm using it with Grip Action Ball Head 322RC2.I love how it holds the camera nice and steady and no movement. Using it right now for sunrise and sunset shots. I use my remote and get great shots. I have a Canon Rebel T3i and using Tamron 18-270mm lens. Still learning what all it is capable of doing. But so far it is a nice piece of equipment that I am happy to have on my NOW HAVE list. It is a bit heavy a... Show More

Great Head for Realestate Photography
I am a professional photographer. I photograph real estate and fine art. This head is great for interior photography as it gives me gives and simple ability to change the head without moving multiple knobs. It's quick and sturdy, solid using the minimal friction setting with a Nikon D300s with battery grip on and a Nikon 70-200 2.8, the lens was mounted to the tripod head. Great build quality as you should expect from Manfrotto products. Not ideal... Show More

Outstanding for architecture and landscape
There is nothing what they could have done better. The carbon fiber legs are tall and strong but light, the flip locks are easy to use but tight, the center column is sturdy yet versatile, the bubble levels are plentiful, the gear head is precise but fast thanks to the quick release. (If I keep this up, I'll end up writing a poem about it.) The spider has a convenient 3/8 tap that finally gives me a secure place to mount my WiFi transmitter. Seri... Show More

A great tri-pod head
I'm a budding photographer you might say, I bought this along with my first set of tripod legs so I don't have much to compare it to besides some cheap complete tri-pods my parents had laying around. I bough this mostly for general use and so far it has been just as good as I expected! Head locks in place when tightened fully, but is fluid when loosened. The addition of a pin which stops the quick release lever from being accidentally opened is a... Show More

I'm in love w/a 3-legged piece of metal
Holy Guacamole. So many good things about this tripod. You can get crazy low angles, 360 horizontal sweeping shots, and YES those rubber grips on the legs really do make it a heck of a lot nicer in the cold as trivial as they may sound. There's a clip for a sandbag/weight, a tool that clips onto the legs should the fasteners come loose, honestly you can't go wrong with this bad boy. Was kinda bummed it didn't come with a bag or strap, but other t... Show More

Best used for travel
if you pack your DSLR when you travel and you want to shoot video with it from a tripod is a pretty good option. Obviously, is not going to be as smooth as a nice large video head but for its intended purpose is good. The panning feature is not the fluid type there is only a knob that you tighten in order to give resistance. Honestly, the novel only works to lock it in place, if you really want to pan with ahead you must loose and it completely o... Show More

Does the job
I bought the 496RC2 after consultation with a helpful gent in the tripod department of B&H and after a little research and reading on my own. The ball head offered everything I was looking for without the overcomplexity of a pan-tilt head. The weight and setup I'm using, Manfrotto 055XB tripod with a Canon 7D with a 70-200mm lens is fine and doesn't overweight the ball adjustment. The plate can be a little tricky to load on or take off and horizo... Show More

Beats using a ballhead
Before getting this grip action mount, I'd been using a regular ballhead mount for my camera, taking still shots and videos of birds. The ballhead was hard to adjust and lock down. The Manfrotto grip action mount works much faster, and stays very close to the position I let it go at, unlike the earlier ballhead, which would always drift. Now I spend more time getting video that I want, and less time trying to readjust the mount. If you do a lot o... Show More

GREAT HEAD!
THIS HEAD HAS A DECENT RANGE OF MOTION. IT CAN BE USED LEFT OR RIGHT HANDED, AS WELL AS A JOYSTICK. IT ALSO SEEMS FAIRLY STRONG. I JUST RECENTLY GOT IT SO I HAVEN'T GIVEN A TRUE WORK OUT YET. IT REALLY SEEMS TO STAY-PUT WHEN YOU RELEASE THE TRIGGER. THE ONLY CON I'VE SEEN: THE GRIP IS SET UP TO BE USED WITH YOUR RIGHT HAND. I'M GUESSING THIS IS BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE ARE RIGHT HANDED. BUT IF MOST PEOPLE ARE RIGHT HANDED--THEN IT SHOULD BE SET UP LEF... Show More

Easy to Use System ...
This pan and tilt head is amazingly easy to use and makes minute adjustments a breeze! With the friction knobs, you can adjust the friction to your taste and feel. The pull out adjustment handles are really smooth and accurate for adjustments. Combined with the friction knob your adjustments will be spot on. It looks heavy, but I found it easy to handle and install. The quick release system works fine. Another great feature is that the handles ca... Show More

I love this product... easy to use...
I have fully enjoyed the use of this product. I do a lot of wildlife photography and this product has made it so much easier to follow the subject while keeping a nice solid base under my camera. It is very versatile and I was impressed with the base mounting options (left, right, top). If you do like to take panorama (stitched) pictures this is not for you. It is very hard to step your camera on the same plane (horizontal or vertical) because of... Show More

Great replacement for me
This replaces a damaged carbon fiber tripod I bought years ago that was a compromise in both size and weight for use while hiking. It is much taller and perfect for my height. I have found it to be very sturdy, even in breezy conditions. Yes, I wish I had the money for one made of carbon fiber, but my hikes are fewer and shorter, so this one works. One complaint I do have about it, though, is that there is no rubber washer, 'O' ring, or something... Show More

A good start
I use this head (being compact) so I can fold it away into my cary bag along with my Oben tripod (for my SLR). It works ok... the only problem so far is if you do use it for 1080p video on a pan the head has a sticking point so you need to sort out the movement and what you will do before you do it (run through). For all of that it will do (after you work all the sticking points out). It is good for still shots and has a good range of movement. M... Show More

Leg fell off while using.
I've had this tripod and have used it regularly for a couple years. On my last job I lifted the tripod up and knew that it felt strange when I tried to set it down for my next shot. Luckily I looked down and saw one of the legs angled out where there is not supposed to be a bend just before the whole leg just fell on the floor and pieces scattered about. Luckily I was still holding onto it and my camera didn't smash to the ground with it. I've ha... Show More

First class tripod
I have had this tripod for about a month and a half. I mostly use it for wildlife photography with a Canon 7D and Canon EF400 f5.6 L. The Sunpack tripod I had used previously was too flimsy for this combination and when the head broke off, I decided to follow the advice that professional wildlife photographers give, to not go cheap on your tripod. This tripod compared to my previous one is like bolting my camera to a block of granite instead of a... Show More

Precision - easy and fast
The grip and bubble give me precision, which can be hard to achieve with other ball heads. Better yet, you can adjust it very quickly. To me, it seems easier and faster than pan/tilt heads, but thats a personal preference. It comes adjusted for right hand users, but the enclosed instructions explain how to flip it for left hand users, and its simple. Also, its very easy to attach to the tripod legs and to the camera. Sturdy and dependable
I purchased this for use with the Glidetrack Pro SD when shooting video. I didn't necessary need a pan&tilt head , so i went with this. It works great. The build is strong and definitely quality (wouldn't expect otherwise from Manfrotto). It works like a charm for pushing the camera rig along the glide track and the benefit of the bullhead is that quickly adjusts to make your camera level, and quickly locks into place by releasing the grip lever.... Buy the aluminum version (at least for video)
I own a number of manfrotto tripods and light stands.. they are decent quality for a decent price. This tripod is fine... but nothing more than fine. I own the aluminum version (2 actually) and with a light manfrotto fluid head for video on I honestly can't tell a difference in weight. It is certainly lighter... if I were to weigh them with a scale. However, I don't notice any real difference carrying them and working with them side by side all d... Show More

The Manfrotto MT 190XPRO3 is now paired with a MH054MO-Q5 ball head and the combination is rock solid at all angles. Speaking of angles the legs have 4 angles of spread and all are stable. Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 ALUM TRIPOD/STAND ALONE HEAD
Its been a long time since I bought a tripod and the good one I had broke. I bought a cheaper one and it looked ok but just couldnt handle the usage. I had looked at other Manfrotto models and was less than impressed. In one store the leg fell of one when I picked it up. I still placed the order for the new tripod and all I can say is there is a big difference! The MT055Pro3 is really really nice. The head is awesome too. Its not for everyone and you dont want to travel with this thing but if you shoot table top work and tether your camera it is great for a small setup. It is rather heavy LOL!

Great Quality without an outragous price
Great Quality without an outragous price, The ball head holds my dslr camera with a 18-200mm telephoto lens rock solid. The friction adjustment really works quite well, not like some other brands that will just have your equipment flop down at the least little backing off of the adjuster. The extra sping loaded secondary lock on the quick release plate does just what it was designed to do-keep the plate locked in place until you decide to remove it. Even though it is a little heavier than its magnessium counterparts, I would still highly recommend this. For the money you can't go wrong.
