Replaced My 3036
More than 30 years ago, I purchased a 3036 from B&H, mainly on the advice of the sales person. It arrived, and I knew, on the spot, that this was going to be a well-used tool for my studio and site work. I wasn't disappointed. It served me faithfully for almost 30 years, and I sold it, along with my other gear when I switched to digital. I lightened my tripods, but sometimes missed the 3036 when it came to rock solid stability, especially with lo... Show More

Excellent Professional Tripod
I am a professional photographer that specialized in child portraits. I need a heavy duty tripod that has some versatility to it to use in my everyday adventure with active preschoolers. I love the fact that it has a turning device to raise/lower the camera without having to move and resize the legs. This is a function I need when changing from preschool subject to adult staff subject. The tripod is much heavier than my old device. I knew this wh... Show More

Truly a beast, but worth it
I've owned Manfrotto products for years and have been very happy with them. I recently decided to upgrade my current, smaller, lighter, carbon fiber tripod with something a little more sturdy. I discovered my moon shots, no matter how I shot them, were not crisp and sharp. They were ok.... but ok wasn't getting it. Using Canon's new 50MP 5DS and a 300mm f.28 should have produced some spectacular images. Using the tripod and a wireless remote to f... Show More

Best Tripod Legs I've ever owned!
I needed some tripod legs that would extend tall enough for me to get above the audience heads without me using the pedestal extended. These legs are perfect for that and if I were to use the pedestal it's really sturdy so wouldn't get much vibration and is really tall. I'm 6' Tall and this is a perfect size for me. With the legs in medium spread and the pedestal down it's about 72 tall max height and with the pedestal up it's about 82 tall max h... Show More

Sturdy Heavyweight
I work in a TV station, and amazingly, this tripod is heavier than the commercial production team's Manfrottos. It's truly a beast, but steady as a rock, and I have little trouble hauling it around using my fluid head handle to carry it. It does clank when you're extending the legs, so not recommended for stealth bird-watching set-ups, but for video purposes it's right on the money. Has the look and feel of something that will last a long time. O... Show More

2nd chance
I've tried those light weight tripods and don't like them. I've owned a 475B for 5 years and liked it until the levers that tighten the legs began to crack - essentially - destoying their ability to do the job. No problem - I ran the tripod over to a camera repair shop to find out that the replacement parts are no longer available. They have changed the design, hopefully it will be better. Like a succor I bought the new one because I like the oth... Show More

Great Platform for my APM 100 mm Binoculars
I purchased the Manfrotto 475B tripod to use with my APM 100mm binoculars. The binoculars and head weigh more than 18 pounds so I needed a robust stable tripod. The Manfrotto 475B delivers what it promises. The tripod easily supports my binocular setup even with fully extended legs and column. I use the binoculars primarily for astronomical viewing so there is a lot of looking up. The geared column makes very easy to get the binocular eyepieces t... Show More

Great legs
I use these legs with the 502 video head for shooting still and video with a 5D MkII. The only minor gripe with that set up is the lack of ability to quickly level the camera when changing locations, but it's very minor. These legs are extremely stable and I don't find them too heavy to move around in my orchard photo/video work. I wouldn't want to backpack with them though. They are infinately adjustable and can be locked solidly into any postit... Show More

if you want solid, youve found it
Although modern light weight tripods are amazing things, I still like something with some heft - especially with some wind around. I also prefer lever style leg extension locks. This modern reworking of the classic Bogen model with clicking angles, smoother action, lever leg locks, and all the usual spirit levels and the like- is extremely sturdy and exactly what I was after. It is a reasonable weight and with a ball head fine over short walks fr... Show More

Still built like a tank
After using my old 3011 for quite a few years it was time for a new tripod have to say the high standards are still high. Tried the 475 right out of the box the geared head is just what I expected. Its a bit on the heavy side but solid as a rock and very versatile most of my work is out side in the winter in Alaska I had to get a bigger sled. Works well in the cold the adjustment locks along with all other adjustments are easy to operate with gloves. One of my concerns with the plastic looking locks breaking in the extreme cold (below -35),they hold up on my other Manfrotto products.

Heavy Duty
This is a beast of a tripod/video head system. It is rock steady and extremely durable. The only downside to the extreme build is the resulting weight. You wouldn't want to carry it any distance, but if you're looking for a rock steady platform, this has all the bells and whistles you could ask for. The panning and tilting adjustments are easily and precisely adjustable. They provide the smoothest movement you could ask for. The 502 head is a things of beauty. I will buy a lighter tripod to use when weight becomes a concern, but I'll never use the cheaper, lighter head.

One of the best tripods I have used.
This tripod has proven to be sturdy, and flexible in it's use. It is great for everyday use in my field as a multimedia professional who has to remain mobile. It extends to about 7 feet high and works very well for capturing footage that is over looking a subject. Construction is nice and it seems like this unit can take some punishment. Though a bit too heavy for travel in my opinion, it is actually fairly light compared to other tripods in it's class. I would recommend this tripod, and will be purchasing another one shortly.

Everything I expected in a tripod
This tripod is a monster ! Very solid adjustable, round tubular legs. The center column adjusts very smoothly with no slop in the gears, and locks in place. Everything that is adjustable has a lock to secure it in position. I put an Oben BB-2 head on it and now I have a great combination for taking long exposures. I don't worry about camera shake anymore like I do with my lightweight tripod. The combination weighs 10 pounds so I wouldn't want to carry it too far without the carry case with a should strap.

Look no further
This tripod is both solid and Manfrotto. That means you've made a purchase for a lifetime. Many people call this tripod (as many others) heavy, but I think those people are weaklings, it may be heavy for women but come on men. I was originally going to purchase the Manfrotto Super Pro legs but I mustered up to the reasoning that if I truly wanted the ridiculous heights it offered, I might as well buy a jib. I love full-figured women, I love this tripod, so its an okay from me.

solid support for large format
I bought this tripod to use with my Linhof Technika 4x5 after finding that my Manfrotto 190XDB was not quite stable enough. It's very solid and precise. The camera remains steady while I'm loading and unloading the film holders. The geared column is precise but slow, but of course large format sooting is slow anyway. This would be good for medium format too, probably more than you need. I'm using a geared head with this which adds to the precision of movement and stability.

Great tripod, great value
This is a big, heavy tripod, perfect for mounting big, heavy cameras. I had one for many years, stupidly sold it, and have regretted it since. Will probably buy another in the next year. I've used mine with cameras up to and including big 8x10 view cameras and it was never anything but super stable, adjustable as ever I needed, and easy to use. I cannot say enough good things about it, really, and to top it all off, for the price it also represents an excellent value.

The Best Studio Tripod
I bought a 3035 back in 1983 and it lasted me until this year when i couldn't replace a part that had broke. This is nearly a direct replacement with a few added goodies. It's an absolute workhorse in the studio (along with a studio stand) and can hold the most gear such as a toyo 4x5 with a phase one back and assesories. It's height range is a huge plus. This thing is worth every penny- an i'm quite confident i won't have to replace it any time in the next 20 years!

Versitile tripod
I bought this tripod when I had to shoot stained glass windows in a 100+ y/o church for a calendar. I already had a Bogen 3068 that would hold up to 39lbs, but needed something with the additional height. At full extension, this tripod with a 3047 head held a Fuji GW670III rock steady through the exposures needed to capture the image. This and an old Gitzo Reporter now live in my car and are my standard tripods. Heavy, yes, but extremely sturdy. Highly recommended!

Rock solid
I purchased this with a motorized Bescor unit and the 496RC2 ball head for my remote photography. The first thing I noticed was the weight. Heavy but in a positive way. It's rock solid, stays put and gave me confidence leaving an expensive camera/lens combination alone and away from me. I've had a Manfrotto monopod for over ten years and that led me to this product. Worth the price. Quality build and easy to use. I won't hesitate to buy another Manfrotto product.

SOLID and LEGIT
These tripod legs are the real deal. Solid construction all around, built like a tank, and just all around professional. It is aluminum, but you will like the construction. I mean look at the load capacity! I don't think you can get a better load capacity for the price. I hold a Canon 5DmkII, a TelePrompTer unit, and a tripod head all on these legs. At no point have I been worried about the leg joints slipping or failing on me. It's a quality piece of equipment.

Great for large format
We got this tripod to replace an old Bogen 3038 we often borrow from anther department when we need something sturdy for our large format camera. The 475B is at least as sturdy, lighter, folds more compactly and extends much taller. It worked great with our large format camera without a wobble. We are using it with a Manfrotto 501HDV pro fluid video head, which is also superb for this application and should work well when we get the chance to use it for video.

See Over Everyone
I used this tripod for years to record live stage events at bars and similar venues. I was usually set up in the back of the room, with an audience between me and the stage, and usually an aisle. Even the tallest people can walk in front of my camera without ducking, and they won't be seen. The normal leg spread is quite steady, but it can be adjusted to wider or narrower. It's a very sturdy tripod, and yet it doesn't weigh very much.

Extremely useful
I've taught TV Production at a nationally accredited Broadcasting School for 19 years. I bought the 3036 version, and it was great!!! Though at first it can be awkward that the 3 legs move independently, the huge plus here is the extreme heights this tripod can achieve...from 17 low, to way up there...it is a great tool to have students learn with...gave them great flexibility...you'll find it a good investment that will last!
