A real tripod
The best to use with heavy equipment, rigid, stable, very well finished. Easy to transport and its height provides great versatility.

Light and solid
Solid, light and easy to set up. It is nice that the tripod comes with a bag that has room for the tripod with a Berlebach 553 head attached, so it can be used to carry the tripod and head in the field; the only improvement I suggest is the addition of a carrying strap or handle to the bag. That would save the cost and extra weight of a carrying case.

Solid Tripod
This the the best tripod I now own. Its very sturdy and light. It is a little bigger than I thought, but it will handle whatever lens I put on it.

Fantastic Tripod
Bought this to upgrade from my previous Manfrotto setup and very happy with the height and flexibility of the Gitzo. Incredibly stable platform and paired perfectly with the RRS BH-55 Ball Head.

Very nice tripod
It's quite tall - I'm 6' and fully extended, with a camera on top, I'm standing on my tip toes to see through the view finder. Very stable platform, but I did have to buy spikes separately. The regular feet it comes with do not provide 100% stability, and you will get some bounce or movement depending on the surface you're on. The spikes lock it down tight, no movement, no blur. It's relatively light-weight given the size. Cons - legs can some... Show More

Gitzo GT3533LS Systematic Series Tripod is excellent
This is an excellent tripod: very steady, the extra length is very good for photographers 6' and over, and reasonably light. The fact that the three legs meet at the top and there is no central post makes it more steady. The 3 series perhaps is not as strong and steady as the 5 series but the lighter weight is a plus if you are carrying it on a photography treck over your shoulder and it is very very steady. Not cheap but it should last a lifetime and you will be glad you have it.

Excellent damping and stiffness
If you need a tripod that is still portable, but can handle the biggest lens/camera combinations this is an excellent choice. Opens all sorts of opportunitys. This is my first Gitzo product and it will not be my last.

Rock Solid
While I have not actually used this tripod yet, it seems very solid and stable. The legs extend well and open up easily. 2 caveats though. The set screw on the base for locking the camera is secured with Loctite and I cannot budge it. No problem as the base plate hugs my ball head well. Also, those strange feet, are great on level surfaces, but I have yet been able to switch them to the included more standard feet.

Excellent Tripod
Just getting started using this new tripod and love it! Very light and strong and easy to use. This is a great piece of gear!

Highest Quality
You can tell this tripod is of the highest quality the moment you remove it from the box. The leg positioning system (at both the apex- and leg-level) is effortless. Once setup, the tripod does not move.

Poorly Designed Tripod
This tripod is lightweight has alot of great features that unfortunately get overlooked simply because the internal parts are cheap and poorly designed. The leg joints utilize a very thin plastic spacers that are easy to dislodge and/or break. Good luck getting their customer service to fix anything as that process has been time consuming and frustrating. Look over forums and a variety of review sites before doing business with Gitzo. It is a company that has had great reputation but has been on a decline in recent years.

This thing doesn't tip!
After tipping over my former tripod (and breaking a lens in the fall), it was obvious I needed to up my game and get a serious tripod. At first, I though the funky little feet would be a nuisance but they are quite stabilizing. And just in case you don't like the funky feet, it comes with an extra set of the rubber tipped ones.

Great tripod
Its is a leg little too long. If the camera and lens are not heavy, recommend the model with 4 section.

Excellent Tripod
I haven't had a chance to actually use it, but I'm impressed with its design and construction. It's extremely stable. The controls are easy to use and very smooth.

Solid high quality tripod
This tripod deserves highest scores in all departments a tripod can score. I am 6'1 tall and this long version suits me perfectly. The tripod itself is very solid (I would say monumental). For my mirrorless camera and 70-200/2.8 as heaviest lens this even might be an overkill but with its built quality this tripod should last a lifetime and will be good enough if I decide to get even heavier lenses.

Just unreliable
Got it from b&h. Decided to assemble it. Some plastic part dropped from the leg tube, I never sacceded in putting it back, so the leg is impossible to stabilize . Just frustrated, it was my last money as I'm on disability.

Expensive, but worth it
I own lots of tripods (it's an obsession). Some are for travel, some are for heavier uses. This is so stable -- even when fully extended to 7' with about 10-pounds of camera/lens attached. Considering the stability and heavy-duty construction, it's not very heavy to carry around. I use it with the Gitzo 3QD ballhead and think it's ideal when you want stability. Perfection
Easily the best tripod Ive owned. Unbelievably rigid and lightweight. The removable central plate also made it possible to use a custom adapter to mount my iOptron SkyGuider with ease. That has saved me 11+ pounds in transport weight compared with the steel tripod supplied by iOptron.

Good things come in small packages!
Im 55 and this tripod is PERFECT! I wanted a systematic tripod (I find them to be more stable). This thing is knee high to a grasshopper when collapsed. It actually fits inside my Tenba Solstice 24L Backpack. Amazing!

Best purchase of the year
I had rough time deciding which tripod to choose as I already own one (taller, more compact). But Im glad I chose this model - 3 sections - its a solid piece of art. Way taller than I need it, so I still have lots of room to play. Works like a charm with RRS BH-55 and Wimberley gimbal.

New Heights
Although equipment is sometimes a personal preference, I did lots of research on this Gitzo Systematic tripod. The height is perfect for my height. Light weight, easy to extend the legs, and level. I know it is pricey but this item has proven itself in a very short time. 100% pleased.

love it
Took me a while to decide which tripod I want. Im glad I got this one. Its not super tall - yet taller than my eye level and I still have room to play after adding ballhead/gimbal and camera. I dont mind it longer lenght when closed. didnt need anything taller or shorter when closed as I have secondary carbon fiber tripod which is taller and is 4 sections. I really wanted 3 section with thick legs. I really like it.
