I've been gigging with these speakers for about a year now. I wanted to wait on the review so I could opine not only on sound, but on reliability. Well...these speakers are GREAT! We're running our 8-man band (horns, keys, etc...) through them and I can tell you that the sound over the full sonic range is awesome. I sound-tested the Yamaha's against some slightly higher priced JBL's and in this $$ range, you can't find a better sounding speaker. They are built like a bomb shelter and we have had zero reliability problems. We even got caught in the rain at an outside gig last July 4th and they kept chugging along. You can spend more and get more, but if you're looking for some truly killer sound without a second mortgage, these Yamaha's can't be beat! ... More

I have owned these for 3 years now and I can say they really are road worthy and really sound great.. I use them for karaoke and DJing. They are a little heavy but nothing the Rock n Roller cart can't handle.. I have had many compliments on the quality of the sound these produce.. I also own the single 115 cabs all together they really pack a punch..

Decided on these because I was on a tight budget. I've owned JBL SRX and Cerwin Vega dual 15" woofer cabinets. These don't sound as good as either. While their sound is not as full, they are very durable, very clear, and cover a dancefloor well. I power each with a Crown XTi2002 in bridged-mono. They are loud enough to rock gigs without feeling like I don't have enough coverage. I think other options like the EV Live X and JBL PRX passive are not nearly as durable or capable of low-end for dance music. Its a budget-friendly purchase that will most likely leave you satisfied at your gig. Having owned better cabinets that cost 3x more, its hard for me to say these sound "amazing". The positive side is that they are very clear even though they are not as full as an EV Tour X which costs double. The main reason I scored under a 4 is because Yamaha should have offered better in their 5th generation of the same product. They could have offered a better speaker for a slightly higher price point. They could have made it bi-amp. They could've used birch wood. They could've used better woofers than low-end Eminence. To their credit, the fiberglass insulation and heavy duty construction can't be denied as they last a long time with most users. Its budget friendly. ... More

Great sounding and looking speaker for the money.

We used to have the JBL JRX 125 speakers and i decided to move up to the Yamaha's and have not looked back! We've had them for well over 2 years and have not had an issue with them. We're using a QSC 2450 amp to push them with and we can push them to the limit without a problem. They've never cut out on us nor have we blown a speasker inside. These speakers really kick butt! Great buy for us! I couldn't be more happier right now with these. I also like them because certain gigs you do the room is so small that you really can't use a sub and with these you don't need to. Of course you can buy some that are better that cost a lot more but for the price, they're the best i've dealt with. ... More

I have used these speakers for over 200 gigs in a club that owns a pair of these speakers and they sound great. The highs are sizzling and the lows are subsonic. You know you have a good sound when the dance floor stays packed.
