Don't Believe the Naysayers

Sep 10, 2017

The Nikon D7500 is an excellent camera. Is it as good as the D500? No. Is the D500 as good as the D5? No. As we know, there's levels to this game. I agree that relative to the D5, you get considerable bang for your buck with the D500. But you get the same when comparing the $1200 D7500 to both the D500 and the D5. All these photo-video-bloggers/photography-pundits rant and rave about Nikon not adding a second SD card slot to the D7500. Are any of... Show More

Old Timer Moves to the Digital World

Jul 23, 2019

It has been a hard decision to move from 35 mm film to digital. I love the film format and the hands-on in the darkroom but decided it is time to move on. My camera choice was the D7500 and I am extremely pleased although somewhat overwhelmed. The language of the Digital world is like a foreign language to a diehard film man or woman. Up to this point my only digital experience was with my phone camera and cheep point and shoot digital cameras. F... Show More

LOVE IT!

Aug 2, 2017

Most reviews thus far seem to focus on comparing spec sheets so I'll try to focus on actually using the camera. I had waited for the D7500 to arrive before upgrading from my venerable D80. I suspect many of my observations are true of other cameras in the D7xxx line but I have no experience with those. My primary driver to upgrade was the extended ISO sensitivity of the newer models. I take a lot of pictures at choral concerts (that my wife direc... Show More

Excellent Camera

Jun 11, 2017

First of all, I don't mind the single card slot. I never used the second card on my previous camera. I do not belong to the camp of those thinking this camera is a downgrade from the D7200 because of a single slot, no battery grip (I never used one) or less MP. I wanted to clear this out of the way first! Handling of this camera is very nice. I like the deeper grip. I like the added ISO button, adjusting screen, touch screen. Those are definitely... Needs Testing

Jul 23, 2017

Still in the testing stage with it. With the first body I received from B&H I was impressed with the camera and its familiar layout as compared to previous models (D7100, D750, D610 and D810). Focus is phenomenal, quieter than all models mentioned. The single SD slot has me worried but I am using very reliable Lexar cards with the fastest write speed available. ISO improvements up to 12,800 - smoother, less noise. The hoopla for the even higher l... Show More

A really good consumer grade DX camera

Dec 5, 2019

I purchased this camera, as an upgrade to the D7100, that I was using, I really thought long & hard about purchasing this camera, as there were some iffy reviews, on the net, by some so called experts, what I wanted was the D500, but it was out of my price range, and what a lotta people don't realize, is with the pricing of the D500, you'll have to spend 2-3 hundred more for the fast memory cards, to take advantage of the speed of taking photos, ... Review is for the Refurbished version of this camera Only!

Apr 12, 2019

Bought this refurbished camera because i thought i was getting a good deal, but then when i received the actual camera, it had several issues going on. First, the sensor had several hot pixels when recording video. Second, the viewfinder had several dust or dirt specks trapped right below the pentaprism, this did not affect the photos, but it was very unpleasant to see every time i used the viewfinder. And third, if you buy these refurbished came... Show More

A worthwhile upgrade or new purchase

Dec 18, 2017

I purchased this to replace a D7100, which I purchased because I was tired of waiting for the D400 (we now know as the D500) that never showed up. My main issues with the D7100 were it's buffer for high-speed bursts, and the ISO performance when pushing raw images in post processing. The D7500 makes significant headway in ISO performance and burst performance over the D7100, but is a capable camera on it's own, without thinking of it as an... Show More

Jun 18, 2017

I am now going into my 3rd week with the Nikon D7500. It is everything I wanted and more. I have owned Nikon since back in the day with my Nikkormat. I shoot mainly Portraits and Landscapes. And have been using the D3X and D3S. They are great cameras, that take great pictures, and I will still use both. But I wanted a smaller camera that was less to carry around. This camera is perfect. And no. I do not work for Nikon or B&H. I have used the came... Show More

Apr 2, 2019

I have only had it for less than a week; however in general it is very clean and I would not be able to tell that it has ever been touched by anyone else. It definitely looks brand-new, zero sign of wear. All buttons feel crisp and clean and uniform. I have taken a few photographs with it and it has delivered very clear crisp pictures. Most of the time I have had it Ive been setting it up and playing with it to best match the set up on my D750. S... Show More

Sold off my Nikon D7200 for this Nikon D7500

Jul 5, 2017

I have had this camera for just about two weeks and it is a really good camera but there are a few drawbacks and issues to note. 1st. - Note that the batteries from the Nikon D7200 do NOT work in this camera. Not the original or aftermarket ones either. Those are the EN-EL15 batteries. You can only use the new EN-EL15a batteries that come with the camera. So do not save your old batteries! Sucks! 2nd. - The lost second SD soot sucks! I just had a... Show More

Awesome upgrade from the D7100

Feb 26, 2019

I read all of the reviews and agonized over whether to buy the D7500. I was going on our first African Safari and really wanted a new camera but should I make the switch to mirrorless? At the end of the day with my investment in Nikon lenses I decided to stay with F mount and upgrade from D7100 and Im very glad I did. I would catorgize myself as pro-sumer and thus the lack of 2nd card slot and battery grip were not an issue for me. The pictures I... Show More

VR issues with telephoto lenses on the 7500

Dec 27, 2018

A few cautionary words: I have just sent back my 7500 as I found, based on my own new camera and another new one in a camera store, that using a 300mm lens with the 7500 and a shutter speed of 1/125 second cannot be hand held and give a sharp picture at 100% crop. The lens VR will not stabilize the picture. One can easily see a slight blurring of the subject when looking at the 100% enlargement. At 1/30, its sharp; at 1/250 and above its sharp, b... Show More

I had sold two D7200's in preparation for an D810. Long story short the 810 did not work out and I needed a body to compliment my D500. Just so you know, I use cameras to shoot in raw and create high quality prints on 17x25 sheet paper for exhibition. Yes! believe it or not a 20mp DX body is more than capable. And, I have found much to my pleasant surprise that the D7500 Is very capable nimble sweet compact body to work with. Other than the one c... Show More

Interesting Camera

I'm old and always felt more comfortable with actual rolls of film in a camera. I've been doing photos of bridges for the company that I worked for to use in promotional work and company calendars. When my daughter graduated from school I put her in charge of the photos and the new digital camera concept. She is now in her own career and I'm retired but I have been asked to once again supply bridge photos for the company. My daughter suggested th... Show More

No Complaints Here

Oct 19, 2019

Camera arrived quickly as per usual from B&H. It was in excellent condition - like new - and the shutter count was 0, as a factory refurb should be. The camera itself is great. I bought it as an APS-C compliment to my Z7 for wildlife (primarily). I considered long and hard between this and the D500, but settled on this for now due to the price and the number of shared specs. Yeah, I wish it had some of the D500's features (dual card slots, larg... Show More

Another Nikon Winner

May 23, 2018

My latest "step up" purchase in the Nikon DX (cropping sensor) camera series. Started with D200, then D7000, next D7100 and now the D7500. Have loved all these cameras and might still be using the 200, but decided to start chasing after more pixels as Nikon kept bumping up the count with each new model- except for the 7500 that comes back to 20.9 mp after the 24.1 high of the 7100. Of course each succeeding model also sported other new features a... Show More

I'm a long time Nikon user. This, however, is my first purchase of a refurbished Nikon body. Contacted Nikon USA with concerns and got very positive answers, which helped me to pull the trigger. The only minor gripes I have are: 1) it doesn't come with the viewfinder cap; 2) both the battery and charger show some usage, the battery is tested as new in the camera though; 3) the shutter count is 390. Nice

This replaces a D200, so the speed of focus and ability to deal with difficult lighting and composition is absolutely amazing, as I'd expected. You pay this kind of money for buttons and dials, and they all remain in normal positions for Nikon, a big plus. While it seems to do great things on Auto, one of the early things I did was take it off Auto for better user management. Connection via USB to a PC is flawless. The inexpensive infrared remot... My D40, while having AF issues, still work. The D7000 still works great and is currently being used as a photobooth camera.
