Well Made & Designed Plate
I have been happy with Giottos products. They are well made, well designed and priced competitively. This assembly & plate are no different. It does the job functionally and the plate itself has the ability to mount both SLR & Video Cameras. The level on the Release knob is also handy. I use the Release Assembly on my Giottos MH 3300 Ballhead, which is great. No cons to mention.

Works Great
I have a larger lens which has a collar for mounting on the ball head. This larger plate holds the lens and camera in place even when the ball head is rotated 90 degrees on its side.

Very good for what it is.
I bought this clamp to attach to the QR plate of a Manfrotto RC-808 head, which I find difficult to use. The MH-658 gives me not only an Arca type QR, but also the ability to balance my camera and lens on the head. The assembly seems well enough made for its price point and suits its intended purpose admirably well. I only rank it 4 stars because of a number of small flaws. First, the release knob is tight. Too tight and feels rough when turned. ... Show More

Excellent Item
I purchased a second of these to add it to another tripod. I am surprised about the quality for the price. This unit is far lower in cost than other Arca-Type mechanisms and far higher in value. Really, I couldn't say enough good things about this hardware.

Just like others said, It is good
It is good like others said. The anti-slippery lock is a nice touch. And the red little stud is also good. Price is all right. Construction is not so bad as some others said. The only thing I don't like is the turning knob is too close to the camera bottom. That is why I rate it four star. And I take a 6cm plate to use with it for more flexibility. It cost some more. But worth it.

Nothing more to ask for that price
I use it with light gears(D60, Tamron 17-50 2.8, sometime with SB-600). But is work all right. I try to tight it in different angle. and press on the end of the lens. It still can hold still. I believe it can manage heavier DX body and bigger lens(may be not too big). Price is all right. BTW, I also get a long quick release plate for more flexibility. It work great with it. But I suspect it wouldn't hold up a big long lens. But I don't have that kind of lens to try anyway.

Excellent Quality
I have been pleased with the quality of this product. It will enable me to use my RRS L bracket since it is Acra Swiss compatible. I am very satisfied with the entire Giottos line and feel it is underrated.

Giottos Quick Release
It works great with the exception of the tightening knob. It can be a brute at times, but may become easier as I get a chance to use it more. Much cheaper than some of the Brand Name Arca style ones. Well worth the money.

Great Product
I purchased this quick release assembly to replace a Giottos MH-652 quick release assembly and I couldn't be happier. Not only does it give me different options (do to it being an Arca Swiss type mount) but, it also allows me to slide the quick release plate. Which makes panoramic photographs much easier to take. If you purchase the MH-680 L Bracket as an accessory at will give you an even great range of movement in both the vertical and horizont... Show More

2 Thumbs up!
...What I did was create a very stable quick release head (arca-type) that more than covered my needs. What I used, was a 30nM Cullman head which supports 44lbs (30nM) in conjunction with the Giottos MH-658 Quick Release Assembly. The Giottos plate that was included I am using on my 70-200 f2.8 Tamaron with an occasional Tamaron 2x tele-converter mounted to my XSi (soon to be 7d I hope). I purchased another Giottos plate for mounting to the camer... Show More
