Data transfer rates and customs
Transfer rates appear to slow when you put mode data on it. Tax (GST) for Malaysia was originally calculated on an incorrect deivery charge. Fortunately this was fixed before delivery. Much appreciated - FedEx.

This is Awesome
I already have a 3 tera external hard drive which is full and My grandsons want to reformat their computers 'cause when one does it ,they all want to; So now I can copy or cut and paste everything on their computers to just one place. This external drive is super fast.

Performs exactly as expected, would be nice to know if the HD is a Enterprise version, didn't see it in the specs. Happy Camper.

Great drive to connect to a router
This is the 3rd one I've purchased. I was outgrowing my 5TB drives connected to my router (i.e. accessing them as shared network storage). Swapped them out for these 8TB drives, and connected the 5TB drives to their USB ports. It's working out great.

Great Product
Took it out of the box and started up. Downloaded Mac softfware and was up and running. Very fast compared to all the other products in the past I have purchased. Came with USB 3 to 2 connector which I needed. Quiet, super soft hum.

5400 RPM drives... slower than the 6TB of the same line
I have the 6TB version of this and it was the fastest of my 4 external drives, so I bought 2 of the 8TB drive in the same line.... Nowhere on B&H, or Seagates websites is there any mention or RPMs... well, for some reason the make it up as they go along. The Backup plus hub 8TB drives are 5400 RPM... to slow for my video work :-( Why would the 6TB of the same drive be 7200RPM? Who knows, but I took these out of the external case to use as a RAID internally, so I guess I just got suckered out of $300+ :-(

Works fine.
I use these for midnight backups from my Synology diskstation. They work fine and seem fast. I had one go bad, and Seagate replaced it under warranty.

Absolute Junk
Bought this to backup a NAS that has 6TB of data on it. Transfers (rsync) started out at 30MB/sec (not great) over USB, but by the time I got a couple of TB on this drive, transfer speeds had dropped to less than 1MB/sec. I seriously doubt it will even be possible to copy all 6TB from the server to this drive. Additionally, when totally idle, this drive continuously thrashes the head around for no apparent reason. Serves me right for buying Seagate. If you buy this drive, you have only yourself to blame.

It's okay.
I don't like its speed. Though it says USB 3.0, but when I transfer video files from another external hard drive (WD 8 TB). Speed first shows 130 MB/s then down to 100 MB/s finally after about 2 minutes it stays stable at 76 MB/s, which is only half of what they claim: 160 MB/s. USA only! Don't buy OS if you don't have a power adapter.
I bought 2 of these and one of the Mac ones. The Mac one had the multi-adaptor for power, but this one only has a power adapter for the US, which means more outlay of cash just to be able to use the drives.

Yes I would recommend this product and will purchase again.
So far this external hard drive is my blessing from the sky. Its capacity of 8TB for the outside dimensions is superb. Have is running for long periods of time without any slow downs. The only thing that I'm not too enthusiastic is the fact that it has preloaded programs that may be necessary but don't used then or not fully used.

Good solid backup option
Seems like a good solid drive. Starts on boot-up so no on/off switch which is really redundant anyway. Comes formatted for Windows and Boot Camp and you can configure it to do Time Machine backup on installation or of course you can reformat it for Mac, but that removes the Boot Camp ability so you will not be able to start up in windows from the drive. No on-off switch
The drive seems to work well (I have two Seagate 4TB USB pocket drives that have worked well so far for a couple of years) but I was surprised that there is no On-Off switch on this 8TB units. So I often hear the disk spinning even when it hasn't been in use for quite a while. Maybe it's not a big deal, but I mention it just as an FYI.

A great combination of looks and functionality
Works perfectly as a large backup drive. having the additional USB ports is definitely a bonus. aesthetically pleasing on a desktop and handy for phone charging or quickly booting up/transferring files to a mobile or flash drive.

Ordered the hard drive. They said they'd be open that day. Took money, processed order. Closed again. Order wasn't shipped. 2 and a half weeks from time order was placed to when I received it. That's absolutely too long and ridiculous.

Serves a Dual Purpose - Will buy More
I have a WD My Cloud Server (12TB) that has two USB expansion Ports on the back, I has used up both and was wondering how to easily increase the capacity and be able to continue doing so without having to configure more cloud servers. The 2 USB ports on the front of the Seagate drive mean that I can Daisy Chain Disks. So I can expand my storage cloud easily. I can buy a cheaper non Hub Drive for one of the Ports and another Seagate/Hub Drive for the other for practically limitless expansion.

Great backup solution for our large RAIDs!
We've been using large-capacity Seagate drives to backup our main editing drives and RAIDs for a long time. We only use these as a backup solution, and they represent the best value per gigabyte anywhere. I've yet to use the new USB ports but it's nice to know they're there.

Fast, Quiet, and Big
Outgrew my 5TB drive, and this is the replacement. The drive is silent except for the occasional light chunk of the drive heads moving. I get about 120 MB/s read/write speeds via the USB 3 cable.

8TB Hard Drive
I was really excited to receive this large hard drive to back up my video files. The only down side I can say is the installation. It wanted to use the Seagate software that was on the drive. At first it didn't really work properly, but finally got it working with some experimentation. Now it works great.
