Great product,easy to use
When I recieved the product and saw it , I was suprised. It's a bit larger then the photo would suggest and very rugged.Feels solid when you manipulate it.Holds my camera firmly with no wobble. The fine tuning feature is great. It permits you to be able to move the camera to where your going to shoot without having to disengage the whole thing.

Solid item than I expected
I use this Ballhead to hold 50D with 16-35 mm L-lens. It is wonderful for a single shot. However, when changing to 70-200mm L-lens, IS, F2.8 to shoot the panning, I got a little bit confused on how to use the grip to pan the camera. If you hold the grip by left hand, yeah... you can take a shot with your right hand. But, the design was ... you have to hold the grip on your right hand... that part confused me when using it. Overall, the ball head is great

Extremely quick adjustments... I love it
Bought this Ballhead with my first real tripod and I am kicking myself for NOT buying it sooner. Extremely easy to use, allows you to make fast, quick adjustments. The newer models are suppose to be lighter and have better ergonomics but I have no complaints and this has been the most useful accessory I have purchased so far

Provides super control of the camera
I use the 322RC2 with the 190XPROB 3 tripod. It makes adjusting the camera angle very easy.

Nice Product
Beginner in macro photography. This head lets me add/remove the camera quickly, which is great for dealing with insects.

Grip you can get ahold of
This is a wonderful addition to any tripod. It allows quick target acquisition with your camera when shooting action shots. The build quality is great. Very substantial. Feels bullet proof. I like the tension indicator for the ball adjustment. It works for either left or right hand operation. No CONS as of yet.

Action Ballhead
WOW - I love how it holds my Camera in position. Easy to rotate and adjust to most position. Only thing that I was less please with is that I am limited to adjusting the Camera when in the Landscape mode Verticially UP. The head hits the base of the Tripod which limits my vertical adjustment. Vertically down works great

Hard to use
I've given up on this product. It's simply too hard to use. After repeated attempts to adjust the friction, it still behaves the same. When used with a 70-300 mm Canon telephoto it's incapable of locking the camera where I point it. It invariably shifts a few degrees down and my subject ends up being framed incorrectly. Readjusting the composition is almost impossible. The camera jerks uncontrollably and I have to reaquire the subject. I've tried... Show More

496RC2 Compact Ball Head with RC2 QR
Compared to my old ball head from manfrotta, this one is hard to use and limits the range of flexibility on angles to get the shot. Though it feels a bit more secure.

Just what I needed
This is my first Ball Head. Everything I hoped for. It is built solid and rotates very smoothly. Combined with a tripod from the same manufacturer, it held my full frame camera and zoom lens with no problem.

Absolutely fantastic
Will never use a panhead again. It is so easy to use and fast to get camera just right. Can also put camera in portrait orientation quickly. Quick release has lock, and holds firmly. Extremely pleased with this ballhead. Definitely worth checking out, in person if possible.

Nice ball head for the price
I coupled this ball head with a Gitzo Traveler 1541. It's a great unit and holds even my heaviest setup (7D and 100-400mm). When you lock down the head, it doesn't move at all. I've seen previous reviews stating that it slips. Nonsense, it doesn't budge if you lock it down adequately. The quick release is also well designed as it's easy to remove, but holds the camera firm when engaged.

Great Pan/Tilt Head
I needed a small tripod head that would fit in my tripod bag but still support my DSLR camera and larger lens weighing about 8 pounds total. This one works great. The one control handle for tilt is small, but not too small to be useful. The other controls are thumb screws which work fine for the adjustments I need. All movements are very smooth. I don't have to remove the head from my tripod to slip everything into my tripod bag. At just under 4 in height and weighing 1.5 pounds, this 11 pound capacity head really helped with my gear weight.

Sooooo easy to use.
I have gone from a flimsy tripod to a Manfrotto set up and wonder why I had ever bothered with the first. The ease with which this head is used is magnificant. No longer do I have to miss a shot because I was busy tightening a screw and later wondering if I got it tight enough. This Grip Action ballhead has done to tripods what icecream has done for pie.

New tripod - new Ball Head
I had the older version of this ball head, so when I purchased a new tripod I also bought the current version of this compact ball head.

Made me want to use my tripod more!
I will start with the ONLY negative of this grip. As supplied it is set to right hand use but I prefer to use it with my left hand, leaving my right hand free for releasing the shutter, etc. Switching it over from right to left hand operation is a simply matter using the supplied Allen key. For the life of me, I don't know why they market it as right hand use as all cameras shutter button is on the right side? Marketing error for sure as I wasn't... Show More

Nice solid ball head
I love the improvement of the friction adjustment on this line of ball head (the older model didn't have it). The plate release took a short time to get used to but is solid and fairly easy to use.

Compact Ball Head
I recently purchased a 496RC2 Compact Ball Head with RC2 QR Plate by Manfrotto. I have never used a ball head before and after playing with this unit will never go back to a swivel tilt mount. I like the versatility of the ball head. My camera feels very solid when mounted on the ball head. The quick release mechanism takes some getting use to.

Good, But...
I have had great success with Bogan/Manfratto products for over 25 years. The 496RC2 head does not latch securely. The plate can shift and will twist a little although the camera remains attached it still will wobble as the latch lever does not stay tight allowing for some play. I am using it on the Manfratto Monopod Mod. 685B which I love. We are professional photographers and own an advertising & publishing company here in Florida. ...
