RX100 I and RX100 III

Jul 15, 2014

I love my RX100 Iit's thin-ness is perfect for a shirt pocket. It takes very handsome pictures, with very high pip, letting viewers zoom in to incredible detail. Very good low light performance, esp. at wide angle settings. And the movie modes are very good, easy to use. This camera performs way above its weight. So when the RX100 III was announced, I knew I had no choice but to get it. This camera has not disappointed me. It is faster, and the u... Show More

Amazing performance from a

Nov 17, 2014

I originally bought this to bring to concerts I don't have a photo pass for and it has become my everyday carry-around camera. Amazing low light performance for something so small. And the ability to shoot in RAW allows for a lot of headroom with post-processing.A few small gripes - I wish the camera didn't fully power down when closing the Electronic Viewfinder. And I wish the focal length was just a bit longer (like RX100m2). Although, the wide... Show More

Best high performance compact

Jul 14, 2014

The RX100 iii is the best high performance compact on the market. There are times when having a small camera is the only way to travel with a camera. For those that want as little performance compromise as possible while traveling with a small camera this is it. The camera is easy to use and takes great pictures. For those that like aperture or shutter priority and more manual shooting those features are available too. I mainly stick with apertur... Show More

Excellent Point and Shoot

Aug 13, 2015

Although I use a great Nikon D-750, I wanted very good point & shoot camera small enough to carry in my pocket. After much research on-line and in local camera shops, I chose the Sony RX100III. I have been using it for about 2 months and I am very happy! At first I was disappointed in my results but tweaked the auto settings to achieve the results I wanted. My biggest con is in accurate focus. Sometimes when I focus on a particular spot, the came... Show More

First Impressions are excellent

Nov 20, 2014

Such a great little camera. Packs a mighty punch into a small body, offers great features that other cameras this size cannot rival. Once you get used to the controls and ergonomics, (which doesn't take long) you can shoot in multiple styles, including from the hip, Hasselblad style at the waist, like a rangefinder, on the ground (with the swivel LCD screen this is incredibly easy), even selfies. Image quality is really great. Lens and depth of f... Show More

Best compact I've ever used

Jul 7, 2014

I've been looking for a small camera to take to concerts since most places don't allow dSLRs anymore. I tried this for a concert on the first weekend and was extremely impressed with the results! Very capable camera for low light, so it did exactly what I was hoping for! The viewfinder is great, love that it magnifies the view when using manual focus. The flash can also be angled up to bounce the flash which is nice too. I only made a short video... Show More

good and the bad

Sep 10, 2014

Bad: Just purchased and the movies and photos from my vacation are marred by sensor dirt. Sony wanted me to pay for the shipping of the camera for cleaning, which just adds insult to injury. Camera is hard to hold as the surface is smooth and slippery. I purchased the added paste on grip and this helped a little, but the camera really needs something added to it to be able to hold onto it. A marginal camera that's too pricey

Jul 4, 2014

I got a Sony RX100 iii and would like to share some first impressions. - The instruction booklet is obtusely written by someone with English as a second language, lacking detail and not helpful in learning such a complex camera with so much packed inside. - Syncing to my iMac and/or Wifi just does not happen despite hours of attempts. It does not sync via WiFi in my opinion. - Image quality is okay but not great. - There apparently are no codec f... Show More

Disappointingly Fussy Camera

Sep 25, 2015

I hoped this would be the travel camera of my dreams. It is small, with an excellent lens, great image quality and an EVF; but I was sadly disappointed by its fussy ergonomics. The video button is actually set into one side of the thumb pad(!), so count on making frequent unintended videos. Worse, this takes the camera offline for stills till you deal with killing the video. The EVF is optically excellent, but also poorly designed, requiring one ... Show More

Great little camera

Jul 29, 2014

Great image quality, nice customizable controls and decent performance. The lens is fast and high quality, and the image stabilization works fine. The EVF is a great feature, though I've discovered I don't use it much as I thought I would. For me, the tilt screen is much more useful. The focal length is a little limited. Coming from a DLSR (which I still own and use), it's great to have a high quality camera I can take with me anywhere without he... Show More

Better than expected

Aug 6, 2014

I did a lot of research before buying the Sony Cybershot DSC RX100 III. It's difficult to find anything but a glowing review for this camera. That said, it is even better than I expected. Perfect size, great lens, bright LCD and very useable Electronic Viewfinder. I carry it everywhere and never pickup my Nikon D90 anymore. I really like the ease of doing custom settings for the function menu, back control ring and buttons and the lens ring. Very... Show More

Pro-compact and Zeiss T*

Aug 12, 2014

We were missing a lot of shots because we didn't have a decent compact in hand and we decided to go for the Rx100M3 and we love it. This is definitely not a d800E but at this price point give the F1.8 and 20MB raw and awesome out of the camera JPGs, who could complain. I'm not a pro photographer but the camera's dial around the lens which we configured as an aperture ring makes it a sweet device to handle. I wish the rx100 case would allow the SD... Show More

The Sony RX1000 III perfectly fulfills my needs for a compact, unobtrusive, quiet, camera with fast lens, low noise, and professional level optical resolution. The image quality is supurb. A lot of performance in a small camera

Jul 16, 2014

Wow, this is an amazing camera for the size! Footprint is roughly the same as my iPhone, only 2x as thick and a good bit heavier. Ideally suited for travel. The DSC-RX100 iii takes incredible pictures with a nice balance between auto functionality plus ability to tweak the settings (and of course you can go fully manual if you prefer). The EVF is excellent, and I love the flexibility of the flash with an angle tht can be adjusted. Great low light... Show More

Happy with the camera

Dec 7, 2015

I'm pleased with the camera. I use it to photograph all the activities associated with the non-profit organization I volunteer with--outdoor activity/people/kids. It's small enough to carry in a big pocket, the optics are terrific and it produces quality results. The manual is the weakest part of the whole package so it's worth it to hunt up and purchase a private reference. The optional at extra price grip is worth it to hang onto it, as it's a ... RX100 III is the best-ever pocket camera

Nov 17, 2014

By adding a viewfinder to the already-great RX100 I & II, Sony has created the world's best pocket camera, the RX100 version III (M3). I'm getting amazingly sharp shots handheld at 1/15th second, great for blurring moving water while freezing the non-moving rocks. RX100 M3's great 20-megapixel sensor and sharp lens resolve more detail than my former 12mp Nikon D5000 DSLR camera using kit lens at ISO 200 to 800. The RX100 M3's only rival, the new ... Show More

About 2 years ago, I purchased the RX100 from B&H. I really really enjoyed that camera and while it worked, my DSLR gathered dust. Then one day, one week after warranty expired, the lens would not retract or retract on its own. Brought it in to Sony: expensive repair. A month later, lens problems again and sensor would not work. Nice Point and Shoot

Jul 13, 2014

I bought this camera expecting the hype to be half true in that the image quality would blow me away for such a compact camera. While good, I would not say it was all that it was hyped to be. I've seen a lot of comparisons to the A6000 which, with the kit lens, is about on par with the RX100m3. However, add just about any Sony/Zeiss lens to the A6000 and the contest is over. My first RX100m3 arrived DOA. After a few weeks, I'd say my A6000 is the... Show More

Great IQ but disappointing

May 16, 2015

The Image Quality is excellent at low and even high ISO - 1600 ISO is still acceptable, and I am picky. But there isn't enough commands, it is a little bit too thick for most pockets, the autonomy is too short. Also, I would have preferred a 'multi-role' shoe (flash, EVF) instead of the EVF, that is not practical at all. The zoom stopping at 70mm is also a problem. I covered a wedding last month, and outside, 70mm is not good enough for portraits... Show More
