A GOOD SOLID ALLROUNDER
I have used the prior model GT 2531 for 3 yrs,( after using a Manfrotto 190B for 3 yrs) but the following points are valid. AS ALWAYS IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU WANT IT FOR!!!A lighter one would be better for hiking extensively--Sure would!A Heavier one better for studio or Mega-Lens work--Sure would! An explorer version base and column better for lots of macro work etc etc- Sure would!A More Compact fold down length ( 4-5 Sections)would be better for... The absolute best all-around tripod in the world
I own the GT-2531, the predecessor to this tripod, bought from B&H. After using the tripod for 7 years, I am more convinced than ever that this is the best all-around tripod on the market. I have used mine in every kind of condition imaginable, in temperatures well below zero, next to the ocean, in mountain streams, and the tripod still looks and functions as new. Recently, I've started using the tripod without the center column, using the ground... Show More

Fantastic Tripod
This is my first tripod with twist locks for the leg sections. The G Lock Ultra leg locks are fast and easy to use. 1/4 turn to release, 1/4 turn to lock - super. The legs can be set independently at three different angles. I have used all three and combinations of the three. They adjust quickly and are easy to use, even with gloves on and a camera mounted on the tripod. I have removed the center column and shoot without it. Setting up at ground ... Show More

Absolutely Great
Any concerns about expense melted away after a few hours with this absolutely great tripod. It is light weight, stiff, and quickly sets up and breaks down. I upgraded from a very old Gitzo G226 Reporter, and I don't know why I waited so long. I like the center column which gives me the two or three inches I need for eye-level work with my Canon 7D/MKII attached to a Kirk BH-3 and Wimberley Sidekick. The column is easily removed for ground level s... Show More

Great Tripod
I bought this tripod to replace a Gitzo metal tripod. It was a shorter tripod to keep the weight down so I had to do a lot of bending over. I also had to use both the long and short center posts with it and swap the ball head all the time. The Ground Level Set feature of the center post on the GT2532 eliminates this problem and make the switch from ground level to high shooting easy. The twist locks on the legs are VERY smoothe and require very l... Show More

Very glad of my choice
Great combination of light weight and stiffness. Quality starts from the box and will not disappoint when you open it. However if you think about traveling then GT1532 will meet you expectations better. But that size finally made my choice towards 2532. Gitzo or something else? Only Gitzo. All works fine, carbon fibre is absolutely beautiful which also important for carbon fans. Purchased c/w Gitzo Gc3101 bag. Great combination if you always have this tripod in your car or travel. Nicely fit tripod with Gitzo GH2720QR all together without disconnecting.

This is an additional Gitzo Tripod. Awesome products
We have 2 other Gitzo tripods. They perform flawlessly for us in our outdoor photography. They set up quickly when it counts. Wildlife moves fast and the shots can be lost if you take too long setting up. No problem with these tripods. Legs extend and lock in seconds. Light, easy to carry and very strong. I've looked at others but nothing compares to our Gitzo tripods.

Greatest! GITZO GT2532 Mountaineer Series 2 Tripod
The new GITZO GT2532 Mountaineer Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod is beautifully made. The 3 (three) leg sections make it very fast to set up and take down. I am using a RRS BH-55 ballhead. This combination is perfect. Make sure you purchase the GITZO GC3101 padded tripod bag to go with it. This will hold the tripod with ball head for safe transportation and storage.

Travel light
Good light weight tripod. Three sections for fast set up. The feet of the tripod screw in and On the third use I noticed a loose foot, screwed it in tighter and found that I'd already lost another foot. For such an expensive tripod this style attachment is cheap for field use.

Outstanding
Excellent tripod. Easy set up and take down. A slight twist locks and unlocks. The locks are sized appropriate. They feel like they will last a long time. Very stable. Handles my D810 with 80-400 with ease. The 6x carbon is smooth and just pretty to look at.

Best set of sticks around!
Highly durable and extremely rugged. I'm an ornithologist by trade, and that means I take my gear out into some nasty habitat. The Gitzo Mountaineer has never let me down. I do recommend purchasing the spike foot set if you do any outdoor work.

Exactly the one I needed
As a tripod it's very sturdy, doesn't wobble at all and I tried different scenarios to check that, even tapping on one of the legs and there are no teethering/wobbling at all. Very easy to use. Tried it in the field and wow is it handy.

Great product.
I use this tripped for a **mm spotting scope and it is a wonderful combination of stability at high magnification and light weight.
