Good headphone amp considered its price range

May 28, 2016

I had a very specific application for the HA400, and despite the price it serves this purpose very well. My use case was to route my TV to multiple headphones and to a Super T-amp. The main connection is from the headphone out of the TV to the input of the HA400, then each channel of the HA400 goes into a dedicated headphone or the T-Amp. I have headphones with multiple impedance so a simple split cable would not do. The sound quality is quite go... Show More

Before I bought this amplifier, I would have to connect my headphones (Sennheiser HD201 and eH350) to my desktop speaker's headphone output each time I wanted to use them (late at night, for example). In order to get roughly the same listening volume through my headphones, I'd have to really crank up the volume knob on my speakers (they take a lot of power compared to your typical earbuds). With the HA400, I can keep my headphones and speakers co... Show More

Does the job

Nov 3, 2011

Overall I am happy with my purchase and for infrequent use its great. I use it when I record rock bands and all of the players want to hear the recording. Before I used a passive headphone splitter but that was cumbersome and we had to take turns. Now all the members can listen to the playback at once and adjust the volume to their liking. Also, not all headphones have the same impedance and therefor different volumes at the same output level. My... Show More

wow terribly awful purchase.

May 28, 2011

Only real use would be as a headphone splitter. I bought these to power some AKG 271's I have for mixing and listening purposes. Let's just say the headphones sound better plugged into a ipod than plugging into the amp. The HA400 seems rather boomy and bassy and cloudy. not real clear. Also a lot of buzzing going on, kind of loud. The knobs take a lot of force to turn so without even testing this amp out you can already tell its made out of bad m... Show More

Does what it says on the tin, recommended

Oct 16, 2014

I was looking for something affordable and basic to split a stereo headphone mix from my control room to the studio room so musicians could have control over their own headphone volumes. This does exactly that and does it without adding any additional noise. The box itself is well built and the control knobs and pots seem sturdy and easy to turn. One thing I particularly liked is that the power supply is small, it isn't one of those big ones... Show More

I was looking for a handy device to split the headphone output. The purpose: recording vocals at my home studio, while I monitor the tracks.I couldn't find a passive split solution, so went for a splitter with active circuit in it.HA-400 is very affordable piece of hardware. I like its sturdy construction. It is small to fit well in a small corner on my desk. 1 to 4 split is more than I needed. Individual volume control is really nice. The sound c... Show More

Behringer HA400

I use this headphone preamp to make the music coming from my cellphone louder when I play the drums to music. For his use the HA 400 works great. I haven´t tried yet how it works with 4 Headphones. I just use it with one. handing: Is very good. There are just 4 simple knobs: The level for each output. In addition it´s very small, but for this size it´s quite heavy, wich is great because every time I want to plug in or remove a cable ... Show More

Handy little Headphone Splitter

Jun 11, 2014

We´re using a Zoom R16 to record ourselves while rehearsing, to get some kind of in-Ear Monitoring we are using the HA400 to split the Headphones-signal into 4 seperate ones. At firs we had some issues because of using a mono.cable, there was very low volume. With using a stereo cable these issues have been solved. The splitter itself is very small and comes with an AC/DC Supply, unfortunatelly there is no On-off Switch, but there is a small ... Show More

I bought this headphone pre-amp for personal monitoring at a number of gigs we do. We are generally close to the mixing desk, but independent volume levels are something we wanted for a long time. Now, we can control monitoring volume easily while playing, and adjust monitoring levels for each of our headphones on the fly. The unit itself has proved to be incredibly reliable and excellent value for money. It is very easy to use, with four simple ... Show More

Affordable 4 channel headphone amp

At this price I shouldn't probably write anything negative about the HA400 headphone amp. Luckily, I don't have to since it hasn't stopped working yet. The knobs feel a bit flimsy and the unit is really light! Well it could be worse honestly, the box feels actually quite sturdy. It comes with a power adapter which is great. I have used it with all kinds of headphones from Beyerdynamics DT 990 Pro to t.bone cheapos and it seems to give enough outp... Show More

Good basic headphone amplifier

Mar 20, 2017

I bought this as I needed one of these quickly and to be fair to it, it's worked perfectly on a number of recording sessions perfectly and without any issues. Its very well made and sturdy, offers a fair degree of flexibility, and allowed us all to monitor without problems. Pretty noiseless and there was no distortion heard during use either. My only gripe would be that there wasn't a great deal of gain on tap and we were all near the end of... Show More

If you are looking for a headphone splitter look no further as this is the only thing that you'll need. Don't bother with the more expensive splitter as it really isn't worth the money. I know this is Behringer, I know, I know what you are thinking. Well yes it is but in this case it's one of those products from the company that YOU SHOULD PURCHASE It's cheap, it's reliable and you seriously won't find a better product at this price range! I... Does its job pretty well

Sep 29, 2017

I needed a small headphone amp, just for tracking, in order to split the signal to multiple headphones. I think this is one of the cheapest headphone amps (if not the cheapest one), so I was keeping my expectations low regarding the quality. I was pleasantly surprised when I tested it: I have no noise/hum issues. I can't tell for sure whether the audio signal that comes out is degraded. It may be, so just to be safe I wouldn't use it for critic... Show More

I bought this as a spare headphone amp and also to compare the quality between this and the Millenium HA4. The price of the product was appealing and being a student this was perfect for me. Personally I would recommend the Millenium HA4 over this mainly due to the additional protection on the exterior of the amp. In terms of ease of use its simplicity is appealing to all musicians though for the more sound conscious & Gear-heads I would recommen... Show More

Simple Headphone Amplifier at a Great Price

As a beginner podcaster I didn't want to spend a fortune. This amplifier fits the bill. It's small and wasn't expensive. It comes with an AC plug but you have to provide the audio out/headphone cable that comes from either your mixer, recorder, or computer into the amplifier. The input is not the small headphone mini audio stereo cable. It's the wider headphone cable. Also, every headphone that's plugged into this amplifier is also the wider cabl... Show More

As someone who is not technically inclined ( about all I can do is plug it in & pray)--this item fits my criteria to a tee. (Plug it in & listen). I needed a unit that would afford guests in my homemade studio--the opportunity to listen to the program they were contributing to without giving up MY headphones and the Headpphone Amplifier does just that (of course the Guests need to supply their own headphones):)--but now I have the unit for which they can plug in & listen--and considering I'm the one who's writing this--that's what it's all about--and yes, the quality is great as well.

Compact and useful

May 28, 2014

As a hobby we've been doing home recording on a Zoom 24 ... single tracking, but we wanted to do a few live takes and so the Behringer HA400 has been a very inexpensive way to use 4 head phones at one time. Works just fine for our needs. Also our drummer uses it as a monitor when we play acoustic stuff - he runs head phones off it from the output on our monitor amp. We found it a very good, effective and inexpensive solution to a some problems. Would I recommend it - yip. Just remember to get either ask Thomann for or be perpared to buy a UK compatible 12v power supply !

Simple small headphone amp

I bought this so that I could provide extra headphone monitors while recording at home. Its a nice piece of equipment. You can take one stereo mix out of your recording interface/mixer and send that mix to four separate headphones. Not a huge amount of features, each headphone channel has its own volume knob. You cant have seperate mixes for different headphones. The unit is built well. It has a metal enclosure. The control knobs feel fine, nothing special but should last if it is taken care of. Well worth buying if you want one output sent to four headphones.

Simple, inexpensive headphone splitter

Jun 19, 2013

It splits a stereo signal into 4 stereo signals. That's all it does, and it does it fine. I use it as a personal headphone monitor for clients, so they can control the volume in their ears when recording. I've also used these onstage to send click tracks/backing tracks from a laptop to the rest of the band, there's plenty of gain available, even for an especially loud drummer wearing ear-buds. I have two of these, and I've had no problems with either one. They're pretty light, so I use blutack to stick them to a convenient flat surface, to stop them getting knocked over.
