I was very impressed by the product because of the comfort and quality. I am a vocalist in a band. Originally, I bought these because it was recommended by two people who have been using the product for a long time. Today, in one ear during practice, the sound was cutting out for long periods of time then coming back for a few seconds. I ended up using a different pair after it was determined that the earphones, not the monitor, was the issue. I am in the process the seeing if I can/getting it replaced. I hope to get this figured out because I DO really enjoy the product. EDIT: So, 4 months ago I sent the earphones back to fixed. Today, the SAME ISSUE has returned with no sound out of the right ear! I will send them in again, but this is getting annoying and I will find a different company if it continues. ... More

I'm not too picky about in-ear headphones, but I've purchased several cheaper ones that had very limited audio with a flimsy, fragile build. There are probably others out there that are cheaper than these, but I don't have time or the inclination to test and replace, test and replace ... These had a good reputation. I'm satisfied with the sound they deliver, how securely they fit in my ear, and the comfort. They feel reasonably sturdy and do a good job of rejecting ambient sounds without the artifacts of electronic noise reduction. The way they fit in the ear is a bit funky. It's taken practice to slip them into place quickly. For old eyes, the micro color dots for left and right are too tiny to be useful in poor light. All in all if they last a couple of years, I won't regret the somewhat premium price. ... More

These are good headphones from a sonic perspective; not great, but good. However, they have a significant problem with the construction - the MMCX connector that allows the earbud driver to rotate at the end of the cable is flakey and unreliable. I use mine for an IEM system and after about the third usage the left earbud started to cut out. The problem got worse to the point where it didn't work at all. A bit of Internet searching revealed that this is a common problem, and while there are some online guides to fixing the problem, the fix doesn't work reliably either. I can't return these since they were a gift and I don't have the receipt, so I'm stuck with them, and disappointed with the product. ... More

I purchased these to use as a monitor for when I am singing or when I am recording someone else. I didn't expect them to be amazing since 99$ is about as cheap as you can go with in ear monitors, but the frequency response on these is just a bit bizarre. It's like everything is there, but once you get to a higher frequency things are about 30% louder than the lower/warmer frequencies. As a result I pretty much can't even use these while singing. ^^; I often switch between singing in a warmer tone to a higher register (think "sound of silence" disturbed cover) and the result is that I when I sing in a warmer register I really can't hear myself well and when I sing higher or say a word with a stronger "s" noise it's like I can feel my hearing getting damaged... The same can be said if I'm recording a drum kit and hit any of the cymbals. ... More

I have used many ear-buds for wireless in-ear monitoring of my stage performances. For this use it is important to me that: 1. The ear-buds do not fall off my ears while I move during my performance; 2. The frequency response of the ear-buds is good enough to hear highs, mids and some low end frequencies (I don't need much of the latter, since I can feel the bass from the sub-woofers we use near the stage); 3. The ear-buds provide an undistorted sound; 4. The ear-buds are as less visible as possible; 5. They fit comfortably in the ears; 6. They have a reasonable price. The Shure SE215 do all that better than any other ear-buds I have ever used before, including the Bose ones, which are great ear-buds and have all the characteristics I'm looking for, except that they are too visible and look kind of ugly on stage photos (and, thus, to the audience). ... I was initially skeptical about these. It took a few days to get used to putting them in my ears without thinking about it, but once I got passed that, I realized the design is really incredible. They are far and away the most durable in-ear headphones I've owned and I've own many. The sound quality is pretty good. You're getting what you pay for there. But again, there's really nothing more frustrating than owning a pretty decent pair of in-ear headphones only to have them short out after 6 months because of a poorly designed connection form the cable to the ear bud. You won't have that issue with these. They will last. ... More

I play guitar & bought these to use with in-ear monitors, primarily when playing at our church. The build quality is excellent. I especially like the replaceable cable, and how easy it is to rotate the earpieces to get a good fit. The package includes a bunch of different fittings for different ear sizes; one of them will fit and be comfortable. Shure also includes a nice zippered case. Sound quality is good, not great. To me, they sound a bit harsh; the high-end is really pronounced, so they have a kind of 'brittle' tone, for lack of a better word. The SE215s are good for stage use, but I don't recommend them for pleasure listening. Bottom line: These are probably as good as you can get for professional quality IEMs in this price range, and I'll continue to use them. But consider getting custom fitted ear monitors if you can afford them. ... More

Been using for church almost a year. Thought they would be broke by now with so many people saying they went to 2 of these in less than 2 months. Having using them now for some time, it becomes aparent to me that the reason why those people didn't make them last is because they probably overdrove them. Anything that you send too much signal to, will burn out. This is especially true for musicians, the ones who monitor without compressing and limmiting the audio first, end up cranking up the volume and get these huge gain spikes that damage the drivers. Just like any other analog audio equipment with sound input. Also, know how to store your cables, avoid sharp bendings, or harsh pulls, they should last for years ... More

These were my first pair of in-ear headphones. I'm bought these to replace some generic earphones that I use for my portable entertainment devices. The sound isolation is good, and I can focus on listening to my music or watch a TV show/movie without feeling like the ambient noise around me is drowning out what I'm trying to listen to. The sound quality is good overall, but the higher frequencies don't seem quite as clear as I'd like, and the base can be a little overpowering. However, these problems were mostly solved by using the base reduction equalizer preset on my music devices. The cable seems very durable, and these seem to be overall well-made earphones. One thing that I was slightly disappointed with is that they did not come with triple-flanged ear tips. The ear tips that come with these headphones are okay, but I got Shure's triple-flanged ear tips, and those work much better. ... More

I was almost hit by a car while walking down a road walking my dog because I couldn't hear the car approaching me ... so be warned. Deep, rich low tones, very solid middle range (I listen almost exclusively to classical, which is a great test for sound systems) and here's my one caveat, highs lack a little brightness, in other words, they are somewhat too muted. While I've only these phones for a couple of weeks, their construction appears to be solid. They are the least expensive of Shure's line that have most of the high end features, such as cord replacement. The sound is significantly better than the basic earbuds provided with an Ipod. Additionally the price point is where most if not all people are willing to buy them and they are not in the astronomic price range that only audiophiles are willing to pay for. The only con and it's only half-con is that they are so noise isolating. There are some really nice touches to these in terms of design, which is why I gave it 4 stars. The body of these earphones are longer and angled more sharply. I have smaller ears and I cannot find a comfortable way of wearing these that will stay in place. Also, the wire that connects to the body is made to be bent, but unless used daily, they tend to straighten back out which makes them less effecting to hold in place.
