This is a heck of a mic system at this price. Comes with lavalier and hand held Mics. I owned one like this before over 20 yrs ago and loved it...I'm very happy to see they're still selling them. I have a Canon Vixia G20 Camcorder, Canon Vixia HF R40 Camcorder, and Canon T3i DSLR...it works with all. This is a mono System, not Stereo. I recorded a lecture over 50 ft away with excellent sound quality. It has an Antenna that can be rotated and extended for best reception. It comes with an attachment for a standard Hotshoe connection, but since my HF R40 Camcorder doesn't have a Hotshoe, and my G20 Camcorder has a mini Hotshoe, I used velcro tape for both Camcorders. I since have bought a mini Hotshoe adapter for my Canon G20 Camcorder. When you plug in the Mic Receiver cord to the Camcorder be sure to plug in the L shape plug to the Receiver and the straight end plug to the Camcorder/Camera. Otherwise you will only send a signal to one channel of the Camcorder/Camera and will only have sound in one channel in your video. I bought 9 Volt rechargeable Batteries that will pay for themselves over time. There's a red light that glows on the Receiver when it's on, and it goes to green when the transmitter (wireless Mic) is turned on. It has 2 frequencies so if there's interference on one of them, you cam switch to the other. I bought a small cheap plastic mic table holder for the handheld Mic. You can switch between the lavalier Mic and the handheld Mic. The lavalier Mic sounds superb and my only gripe is the cheap plastic lapel clip this Mic comes with. It broke the very 1st time I tried to attach the Mic to it. Azden really, really, needs to upgrade the Mic clip even if they pass the cost on to us buyers. It's a shame how cheap of a lavalier clip they give, with what is an otherwise outstanding Product. I use headphones to monitor the sound when recording, so I'll know if the Mics stop working, or develope any issues. The Receiver has a headphone output. This system is made of good durable plastic and if handled with care, should last, but it's not indestructible. I think so much of the sound quality of this Mic system that I also just ordered a Azden SMX-10 Stereo, Hotshoe Mount Mic. I plan on getting (in the future) another Transmitter and lavalier Mic to add to this setup. Then I can wire 2 people for sound at the same time if I need to. All of Azden's wireless Mics work togather since they all use the same frequencies. I'll need to get a nice case for all my Mic gear, don't have room for them in my Camcorder case. There's better wireless Mics one can get, but not at this price. ... More

I bought the WMS-PRO mic system to connect to my computer and record audio from presentations I give. The computer automatically syncs the audio and slides so I can export a video of the presentation afterward. The WMS-PRO looked like the perfect solution to be able to walk around the room and still get good quality audio. Unfortunately, I'm not really experienced with pro-audio (if you could call this flimsy plastic mic professional anyway) and didn't know the difference between mic-level and line-level.Well, here's the difference. Mic-level is extremely low and needs to be amplified to be used. You can't simply plug it into your computer's microphone port and record quality audio. The only way to get professional quality audio out of this system and into a computer is through a preamp or USB audio interface. Fortunately this unit comes with a headphone jack, and I was able to take a male-male cable and plug it into my computer's mic port and get decent audio. It's not excellent quality, but fine for recording my presentations.Overall, I think it's a decent product but it seems too expensive for the manufacturing quality and features. It's made of flimsy plastic and feels like it would just shatter if dropped. My kids have $10 walkie talkies that were made better.Overall I can't really recommend it. It gets the job done, but there's got to be something better out there for less money. ... More

First things first, they look good but feel realy cheap, the clip to attach to your belt is so weak you can look at it and it might break, the hand held microphone feels cheap but works well really sensative, also the instruction say to unscrew the microphone in order to change the battery, oly problem is , the gand held microphone does NOT take batteries so dont try to unscrew anything on the handheld in regards to a battery, SOUND = there is a really loud Hiss when you play back the recording if your listning through headphones atleast on channel one when recording directly to the camera, I did not try channel two yet to see if it goes away. this was when I was recording straight to my Canon Eos 7D, when recording straight to my Zoom H4n the hiss is gone, I am not overly happy with this product but. I gave it a 3 start because of the hiss and how cheap it feels and because you cannot record straight into the camera you have to use a $300.00 Zoom H4n in order to get the proper clean sound. Azden should upgrade the cheap clip and upgrade the outer shell and then you would have a home run. if your on a budget or doing you-tube, how to videos or interviews you can get away with using this unit, it looks good but does suffer in quality and sound when going directly into camera. ... Overall the quality of the audio and the range is alright for indoor filming, or sometimes even outdoors. There is no battery indicator on it, which makes it difficult to know when you really change your battery. You usually notice when the volume being picked up is really low, though don't get fooled by the low signal-to-noise performace you will get. Without any amplification or gain, it is hard to get loud enough sound with a DSLR. Therefore, here is what I do. I record the audio at 24 analog dB gain, and 18 dB digital gain (Magic Lantern firmware for T2i), then I take the audio into Soundtrack pro or iZotope RX 2 Advanced. I prefer iZotope. I work with additional gain and remove background noise from onboard gain. Adjust the equilizer to take out a little bit of bass and add more treble and you get pretty decent audio. Overall for the price its a great choice. ... More

I have only used these a few times, but the little I have used them has been in the worst conditions possible. They work very well inside convention centers and buildings, even around other audio equipment. The range seems to be about 20 feet, but I hardly ever shoot more than about 10-15 feet from the camera anyway. Sounds quality is quite good, actually as good as the thousand dollar Sennheisser pr kit I have rented in the past. Again, just without the distance and without the huge variety of channels. They do feel a little cheap and I take extra care with them, as it feels like the battery doors are just looking for an excuse to fly off. Also, the hand held mic is way too light and feels like a toy. Don't ever hand it to someone you are interviewing, they will think its a joke. Overall, extremely pleased with the product, and would recommend to anyone not looking to spend over $1000. ... More

I bought this to improve man on the street interviews. Of course, there is still some ambient noise, but having the microphone next to the speaker helps a lot. The range was sufficient for my use. I was even able to move around my apartment and the transmission was received through walls, both wood and concrete. There are some editing issues with the box and manual which reduce confidence in the product, but are not critical. The box labeling could easily mislead you to believe that you are getting a system that supports 2 microphones simultaneously, which is not the case. The manual indicates that there is only a handheld microphone with the WMS-PRO when it actually includes a lavalier also. The battery indicator did not function as described. (In my opinion, a separate battery indicator might be an improvement.) The receiver's mounting shoe does not fit on my Canon Vixia HFM300's mini advanced shoe; it is too large. A few minutes of careful work with a pocket knife achieved a good fit and will still allow it to work with a standard shoe, if rotated 90 degrees. I could not find a configuration to make the system compatible with my laptop. ... More

I purchased this mic system to go with a Block Rocker amp that I purchased from B&H for my daughter who teaches music in an elementary school. So far she loves both. The Azden wireless lavalier has no feedback even when standing right in front of the amp speaker. (The Azden handheld mic is prone to feedback, but what she really wanted was the hands-free operation of the lavalier. So she is very happy.) She has no signal dropout from anywhere within the classroom. The sound quality is good. One of her friends who teaches dance tried this wireless lavalier mic on her sound system as well. She loved it and is ordering one for her studio. (Of course, I suggested she contact B&H.) The only complaint is that the lavalier audio is a little weak with the mic clipped to a lapel or blouse. A headset boom would help. Sennheiser appears to have a boom that might work. We may give that product a try. The transmitter and receiver both feel a little flimsy, so longevity may prove to be a problem. No problems yet. ... More

I use this product for simultaneous interpretation (translation), to hear the speaker or floor signal. By miking the speaker directly, leaving the mike on the podium, or even hanging it over a loudspeaker, I get excellent sound. I can even connect the auxiliar output of a sound board to the mike input of the Azden to tap into the house system. It will take a surprisingly high signal level, although for best results I sometimes use a signal-dropping adapter. I use the earphone output on the receiver to hear, although I usually connnect it through a battery-operated headphone amplifier to feed a pair of stereo phones for best level and control. I find the reception absolutely trouble-free, no noise, clicks, or interference. I use the two frequencies simultaneously in adjacent rooms or through a mixer when I need two source mikes. Range is excellent, goes through walls, better than my 72-MHz system used to transmit the interpretation to listeners. Have bought two and am about to buy a third one. No durability problems. Have not tried the cheapaer Sony or AT systems, for fear of not getting the same known performance. Brightness of LED indicates battery status. Have not used the hald-held mike. ... More

For wedding videography, when it comes to microphones, quantity is more important than quality (to a degree). In other words, it is important to have a mic within twenty inches or so of each important audio source. An expensive mic ten feet away will not do as good a job as a cheap mic that is close.I've been using the WMS-PRO for over three years. I also own two of Azden's 100 series and their 500 series. Although the WMS-PRO does give you a low-level hiss, it is easily removed with software and the mic actually makes male voices sound better than their 100 series which is more expensive.I recommend the WMS-PRO wireless set to beginning wedding videographers. Just remember that with only two frequency settings, you cannot use more than two of these sets at a time Expertise: Guru! This is not professional equipment, despite Azden's product title. However, for the price, it is surprisingly good. HOWEVER!!! My good results are partially due to an extra piece of equipment that I purchased - Zoom H4N. I record audio through the Azden to the Zoom - NOT to my DSLR, which is a Canon 60D. Don't be fooled by this camera's ability to plug in and control levels - this is a horrible option and is NO BETTER than just using the onboard mic. To get the best use of Azden, you must recored to a high quality unit. Does this make the price go up? Of course.
