Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens For Nikon with AE Chip

Great Optics
I initially hesitated to purchase this lens with my Canon 5D IV because of its modest price, but decided to give it a try because of the testimony of other photographers I trust. My friends were right--I am very happy with the performance. The AE chip helped confirm focus very accurately and reasonably fast, and the images I got were stunning. They were extremely sharp and clean with a reasonable amount of distortion easily corrected with Lightro... Show More

Excellent low-cost alternative to Canon Lens
works seamlessly. Although autofocus not provided, it is easy to do so manually. Auto exposure works well. Used for night shots in dark sky locations in National parks with great results. Pinpoint star images across entire frame. Also worked well in Antelope Canyon and for park scenery.

Incredible lens
this lens is extremely sharp! ...or maybe it's my D850 ! Just set the lens to F22 and you have focus confirmation and exposure functions. Balances nicely on a full size DSLR. Deal of the century. Get this prime..you won't regret it.

Impressive
For how inexpensive this lens is its awesome! I keep it over f/4 an have to be mindful of wha lights doing you can get some really great images out of it!

Enjoying this lens!
This is not a point and shoot since it does not mesh with the on-board camera system on the Canon 700D I work with. Give yourself time to learn to work with the lens, and choose subjects that you can set up and shoot properly, and you will enjoy using this lens greatly!

A Decent Lens for the Money...
I purchased this manual lens for my 5D - Mark IV with the idea that using it in either the apperture or shutter speed preference settings, I would only have to make two settings; one for exposure and the other for focus. My first impression was the lens is rather large and heavy, but otherwise solid nd ell made, I find the focus difficult to adjust through th viewfinder, and recommend it be checked on the imprinted sch on the base of the lens. Stoked
I was extremely skeptical about purchasing this lens. Many have stated that it was either hit or miss in terms of quality. I had been eyeing it for a couple of months until I saw it go on sale, which made the gambling slightly less riskier. I could not be happier with this product! I got it for astrophotography and am impressed with the quality of photos even straight from the camera. I would easily pay full price for this lens.

The Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC lens is my first wide-angle lens. I am using it on a Canon 5D Mark II, which has a full frame sensor. I bought the lens on an impulse because B&H offered it with a big discount, with a time limit on the discount, and I didnt have time to research what focal length would be best (11mm, 12mm, 17mm, 28mm etc). If I had, I might have chosen a longer focal length. I am pleased with the 14mm though, especially for small... Show More

DON'T BOTHER....CONSIDERING ANYTHING ELSE!
Using it with Canon 5D IV. Is sharp, little flare even on direct sun. Distortion is not an issue-I use Lightroom for correction. Will not hesitate to recommend it.

works well!
I'm relieved that the product hasn't arrived in any way broken. However, it does take a little getting used to since it's manual, but that's not an issue

Rokinon 14MM f2.8 with AE Chip
This is a return/exchange for my first order. The first one had severe lens aberrations in the upper left hand quadrant making the lens useless for nightscapes as well as landscapes. Thanks to B&H convenient exchange policy, getting another copy was a simple affair (thanks B&H!). Anyway, the four stars was given instead of 5 stars due to the first lens. I bought this lens primarily for nightscape astrophotograhy. I had previously ordered the Rok... Show More

Great Value Full Frame Lens (Astro & Landscape Photography)
Image Quality The lens is very sharp with a few minor soft spots that can be easily corrected in post-production if you're a pixel peeper. If minor soft spots in the initial photo bother you then just skip to the 14-24mm Nikon F2.8, or equivalent, but chances are you were considering this lens because it is a BUDGET LENS. Build Quality The whole lens is quite tiny and built very sturdy. The manual focus ring moves perfect with one finger and inf... Show More

Undoubtedly a great lens.
I recently have the opportunity to try this lens. I am extremely happy with it. Sharp images. Solid built. Great value for your money. I can't wait to use it for my astrophotography images.

image falls flat.
The Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC shows promise, but falls well short in sharpness. Ive owned this lens for a year, using it on my Canon 5D mk IV, and also used the Nikon version before I switched to Canon. This lens is very capable of getting you some stellar shots, but issues with the focus distance make it a hassle to use (my infinity focus is around 2M). I shoot electronic music concerts in Washington DC , which means working in dark rooms and... Show More

Sharp Lens
Bought the Rokinon 14mm/2.8 lens to shoot star trails at the Arches National Park. The manual focusing and aperture took a little getting used to, but not too difficult to learn. The lens was sharp and well made.

Great combo with A99II. Absolutely love this lens.
I have had this lens since last 3 years now, and have shot interiors, nature and landscapes with this lens by paring with my Sony A500, A77II and now A99II. This lens is far sharper even in corners, has less distortion, and far better colors. This lens is sharp wide open in the center, and the f/2.8 allows you to get some perfectly acceptable bokeh for close up subjects, even though that is not the purpose of this lens. From f5.6 untill f16, it i... Show More

Great lens
Looked at many reviews and options for a good lens to use with astrophotography. The weather hasn't been very cooperative to try out with the skies so far, but the test shots I have taken just around have been very satisfactory. Definitely needing to practice with the fine tuning, but nighttime belongs to manual focus.

Fantastic lens! Real Value
I ordered this lens for use on my Nikon Infrared converted camera, and it delivers better then anticipated! Also, I used it on my D850 to expose the two night images shown. Amazing sharpness, vivid color and spot on contrast. Very pleased with the lens. Highly recommended. Give it a try.

Great lens for the price
I've only had this a few weeks so I may update this review but so far I really like this lens. It's manual focus only which I discovered after the fact. But at 279.00, the alternative was the 1600.00+ Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8. It feels solid - more than I expected for this price. The focus and aperture rings are well made and the few images I've produced are sharp. Looking forward to some Milky Way and/or meteor shots in the future - that will be the true test of this lens for me. The image below was taken with a Nikon D800E.

I love my About my Rokinon 14mm f/2.8
I just love this lens. Great for night photography and gives another perspective to my photos. Focusing is not a real problem because this lens has so much depth of field that are are in focus most of the time without having to focus manually. Highly recommended for the price.

My new favorite lens for night photography
I own and love a nice set of Canon L-series lenses and was somewhat reluctant to even try this lens after reading reviews about quality issues. Trying this lens changed my attitude instantly. This lens is compact and light (compared to L-series ones, so you may think different) and the optical quality is simply amazing. Mine is sharp from corner to corner even at f/2.8, shows practically no chromatic aberration nor noticeable coma. I also used it... Show More
