Sensor died after 3yrs of light use.
I was Happy with this camera, great color, took beautiful photos. I purchased it barely 3 yrs ago, and Recently noticed red lines going thru photos. Canon said its most likely the sensor. they recommend sending it in for repairs! ..So Dissapointed! youd think a camera this costly! would last more then a short couple of years! being lightly and gently used. very well cared for! so after paying the huge cost of this camera, now I get to pay for a repair of a faulty sensor!

Purchased 5DS r in 2015...
Love the camera itself, however, as with me, most, if not all, are unable to successfully put in a Compact Flash card (I attempted it soon after purchase) . Mine bent the camera's internal connection pins (just one, actually). And after reading all the online information on this major issue and the fact that they will not repair their mistake, I had no choice but to simply let the issue go... Would have been nice to install my CF cards. I curren... Show More

I love this camera. The Resolution is beautiful. The prints I make from it are so detailed. You can see images taken with this camera at my print site. www.pascalprinting.com

I will never regret buying the 5DS EOS Canon!
After having this camera since September of 2015 I am still in love with how it works and what you can do with it. I still use the first 7D I bought in 2009 and the Mark II I bought in 2010. I use them all at different times but the 5DS I use for landscape and other photos and I use the Hi Definition setting almost 100% of the time I use it. I also always shoot in RAW mode and Manual mostly. It has never disappointed, ever!

Its great.
There is no perfect camera because the needs of photographers vary too much, but I think this is very close to a perfect match for me. The only thing I would like see improve in future models is better noice reductions on high ISO. I have studios in two different cities in two different countries and I have as my first choice in each one an EOS 5DS R and one more I carry when I travel as a second camera because I trust it when doing commercial or personal fine art work.

1 week of use
So far so good. Ive only used it for a week but the quality of the images are as advertised. I have more room for cropping without losing detail. Please be aware, however, because the mp are so large it takes longer for the camera to write the data to the card thus creating a longer lag time to display on the LCD after you release the shutter. This is a small issue for me as I photograph preschool aged children for a living and I sometimes like t... Show More

Dead after 2 days
Usual great B&H service and delivery. Went dead after 2 days for no reason - had a similar incident with my old 5DII several years ago. Just illustrates need for a backup body on major shoots/trips.

Does not disappoint
Being a long-time Canon shooter, I bought this camera solely for the 50MP, high-detail, high-resolution images that it produces. I have not been disappointed! The 50MP sensor performs wonderfully at revealing some of the smallest details in landscape and cityscape images. I have even given it a go at bird photography, and the ability to crop and still retain detail in feathers is amazing (however, it isn't my primary body for birds). The raw... Show More

little body big files
I do exclusively aerials, have always used canon 1ds pro bodies, had a couple 1dx cameras. had more options than I need for aerials. but love the pro body. so got a body from CPS. did not like the small body and battery grip. but I am old and set in my ways. after a couple months had a couple contracts that would benefit bigger files. bought a couple of the dsr's and battery grip. coupeld with zeiss & L lenses. remarkable pictures. cheap camera for the quality imagery. wish canon would make this in the pro body. buy it.

Medium format image resolution for $4000
THis camera gives such amazing resolution that it is comparable to a medium format camera. The Moire' and color artifacts are rare and should not be a concern. You can crop a photo down to a very small percentage of the image and still print a medium sized print without accessive fake pixels. The one weakness is the shutter lag is long so burst mode does not work very well.

Who said low light is not possible with 5DS
Use a quality tripod and you will get amazing results in low light. ISO 500, F2.8 , .5sec, 70-210 L lens This camera is now my preferred for landscape picture taking over my Canon 5D Mark III.

Great Camera for my work!
Being a Portrait photographer who doesn't always get the crop I want, this camera is incredible. I'm upgrading from a 8 year old camera and the low light performance is night and day for me. No pun intended. I shoot a lot of wedding and event photography and this camera is very suited for it.

50mp!
My 5th Canon camera (first was a Rebel film camera) and 4th Canon digital camera in 25 years. I love the sharpness of the image, adding the wifi ability was a long time coming ... and being able to use my EF L lenses with each body saves a fortune!

Very good
This was my first Canon product. I purchased it after using Pentax for the past 4 years and the K1 specifically since it was released. I switched because of the Canon lens line up that is far better than what Pentax has to offer. After my first week with it on the 600 F4 IS II I was blown away by the auto focus performance, just so much faster than what I was used to with Pentax. The image quality is very good, but five months later I still think... Show More

5DSR is a great camera, love the mega piexls
I purchased my 5DSR about a year ago from B&H and use it with my other Canon bodies. I have shot it in SE Asia and throughout the Mediterranean with great results. I can shoot and crop and still have more pixels left over than most other cameras. The resolution for landscapes is fantastic. It is an excellent travel camera because you can crop marginal shots that cannot be retaken and still come up with excellent results. The detail for wildlife s... Show More

The Perfect Landscape Camera!
I use this camera strictly on a tripod for landscapes. The quality of the image is amazing and manual focus is excellent through live view. I did landscapes in the past with a 4x5 camera so manual focus for me is extremely simple with this camera. I basically use the 5DS R as a smaller digital version of a view camera but without the movements which I miss. Tilt shift lenses are still too limited in movements to even consider. I am using the EOX ... Show More

Amazing, but with some flaws...
The 5DS is an AMAZING specialist camera (just like the 1DX Mark II). If you do studio portraits, architecture, or still-lifes, the 5DS is currently still the best 35mm-format DSLR that money can buy. Because the dynamic range of the 5DS is nowhere near as good as that of the 5D Mark IV (or other brand-name cameras), the 5DS is less forgiving and less versatile. Having said that, I have used my 5DS to shoot weddings with amazing results. Personall... Show More

Best of Both Worlds
Ive owned this camera for almost a year. and Ive read numerous complaints that the 50mps is to sensitive and shows every flaw in bad shooting form. What people don't say is that this camera also shoots at 28mps in med Raw. which is almost as good as the MarkV in large Raw. This Camera is unbelievably awesome in large Raw 50mps on a tripod. and unbelievably awesome in Med Raw 28mps hand held, therefore the best of both worlds.

Finally a digital camera better than my Hasselblad
After having shot Hasselblads and every pro Canon since the 1DS mark I, II, III, and DX, I have finally found a camera that has the image quality, feel, dynamic range, and overall professional quality that I have been missing. My choice for wedding photography
Tonal gradation is phenomenal. I cannot believe no one is talking about that. The amount of shades of gray in the image equals to a cleaner transition between darker shade to lighter shade. Future proof 50MP. Sharpness like no other. Color science and photo realism. The quality, for me as a photographer, seems like what DVD is to Bluray. 5D Mark 3 is to this camera. A+ for photography. There is the 100MP larger format cameras, but that is 50K league. For 5K, I haven't seen these kind of Sharp, natural looking photos anywhere else.

Quality, quality, quality
I rented this camera for an architecture shoot and three months later bought it before another shoot. I've used it only with the Canon 24mm f3.5 tilt/shift lens on a tripod and the combination has worked flawlessly. I love it. It's replacing a Nikon D600 with the Nikkor 24mm f3.5 tilt/shift lens and worth the extra money.

Amazing and versatile camera!
5 stars for sure! Started using the Canon 5dsr about a year ago and it has made photography even more fun. Super detailed landscapes at 50 mg. I drop down to Medium RAW for bird shots and take advantage of the crop effect for telephoto shots. And the intervalometer features are easy-to-use for time lapse shots, especially when shooting blooming flowers shots and not having to worry about the external intervalometer battery running out. One notable exception... I still use my 5d Mark III for night photography because it has less noise in low light and at long exposures with high ISO.

5DS Excellent
Love it. Love large format cameras. Files are big; and when you do any mods, the files will get bigger. Need to plan for the amount of data you will acquire as you use this camera. I still haven't learned all the capabilities.

Stunning resolution, but don't leave your 1DxII at home
Incredible resolution in a very functional solid body. Any lens deficiency will show up at 1:1 editing at this level. Performance much above ISO800 takes a beating if you push your files much in post processing. Leave high ISO needs to other bodies. The buffer is also slow to clear and makes review frustrating at times. I pair mine with a 1DxII when I need fast frame rates and high ISO requirements. The recent 5D IV may be a better all around performer if ultimate resolution is not the main requirement.
