Canon EOS 5DS R Camera Body with PRO-1000 Inkjet Printer Kit

UPC's:
I wouldn't hesitate to get this body now, software is bonus
For Canon DSLR owners, the controls and layout are very familiar. Acquired to compliment my 7D Mark II with the APS C sensor. As expected with the full frame sensor and 50.6 Megapixal, cropped photos retain great detail. Primary uses will be with wide angle and portrait lenses, but I experimented with my 300mm f2.8L and the 1.4 Extender to shoot surfing (I always use a monopod or tripod with the true telephoto lenses). Excellent and fast autofocu... Show More

Does what it's supposed to
I have been waiting for this camera for a long time to complement my investment in Canon lenses. Do not worry about Moire. I have yet to see it and I have taken quite a few pictures. The main thing about using this camera is that to get its full value you must use it in situations where most of the pixels are in focus. I use this either with flash photography or outdoors where in both cases I can set the ISO low, the effective shutter speed high,... Show More

Excuse Me, But Where's the Noise?
I was hesitant to purchase this EOS 5Ds R due to the reviews claiming increased noise levels in the high MP sensor characteristics. O.K., so tell me what I'm doing wrong. I photographed in low and normal ambient daylight with ISO 3200 and I'm not seeing the noise in the shadows, or anywhere else, for that matter. My regular camera is a Nikon D800E. This camera was purchased for my wife, who has been using a Canon EOS 5DMKII. There are better nois... Show More

Amazing Resolution
Non professional photographer took a chance on this camera and I am truly amazed at the resolution as well as color and noise properties. High ISO is not problem. It has much less noise than my Canon 7D and slightly more than the 6D. I own a Canon 6D and 7D and after using this camera for a few months I no longer use them. Very quiet shutter and excellent build quality. Built like a tank. The camera focuses very fast and 95% of my images are hand... Show More

The Ultimate Photography Machine
The resolution is mind blowing, the AF is blazing fast and accurate, no AFMA was required for my lenses (tested with Reikan FoCal). The high ISO is quite decent, better than I expected. The camera body itself feels extremely solid. The only wish it would be to get metering in the focusing area / spot for this camera. My two suggestions (5c) to the potential buyers: handheld the camera works best with stabilized lenses. For a studio work when MF is required with the fine lenses like the Otus or the Zeiss 135 APO - a magnifier for the live view is very helpful (see the recommended items).

Fine Resolution But Get Your Tripod Ready
Resolution has never been a complaint with full-frame Canon SLR's, when shooting a wide range of subjects, but my curiosity got the best of me and I purchased the 5Ds. From an ergonomic perspective the camera carries on the tradition of the Canon full frame line with button and menu layouts that will allow the experienced Canon user to get up and running in a few moments. Everything is where it should be and the feel of the camera is exactly as y... Show More

May return it...
I have used mine for almost a month but might return it. Currently, you cannot tether it to Lightroom CC because Adobe has not upgraded the software and nobody knows when they will. Also, my Cyber Commander transmitter is not working in the hot shoes. It works fine on my Canon 5dMII. Calling about that in the morning. And the 50mp files are nice but make my workflow a lot more sluggish. My MAC is a 12 core tower with tons of RAM. So, I have been shooting in the 28mp resolution lately... sigh. Everything else I LOVE about this camera but it won't fire my Einstein strobes or tether to Lightroom.

best camera for me
I have had phase one cameras, for studio and fashion, but had to use my canon for interiors, for the wide lens. well not any more, I can use the 5dsr for EVERTHING. just as sharp as the IQ140 for 1/3 the $$. Im happy

Rented a 5DS
For my niece's wedding, I rented a 5DS to test it and see if is as good as people say it is. I loved how the ISO is in small increment, which reminds of film. The quality of the photos is so much better then the T2I. I just love the color of the photos

Updated Review...
Let me begin by saying I don't think Lightroom has a problem with the Raw, from this camera, I think the problem is the sheer size of the Raw... I recently bought a 7D mk 2 and as far as I can tell the Raw format is Identical to the 5Ds, just smaller images, and Lightroom has n trouble taking those shots. Now my update... still learning how to get around this Camera, But honestly Canon has done everything I can think of to make the learning curve... Show More

Incredible resolution
The resolution and sharpness of this camera are exciting. The file sizes are up to 78 megabytes. The processing is slower than the previous cameras in the Canon line up, but that has not been an issue. I recently photographed a cycling event. I was using the 5DsR and a 7DMII. I use both in single shot, AI servo, with back camera focusing, and I recorded both large JPEG and medium RAW. Neither camera missed focusing on the intended subject and nei... Show More

Capable of very low noise pictures
Here was the big surprise for me with the 5DS R: I was out taking pictures of birds at dusk this evening, shooting ISO 800 and ISO 1600. You may be thinking from other reviews that these conditions are not this cameras strong point; with it's smaller pixels, the 5DS R does have more noise. However, that added noise comes with incredible sharpness and detail, such that when you edit the pictures up in Lightroom and dial up the noise filter slider ... Show More

Buyer Beware!
Adobe Photoshop Elements will not read the raw files produced by this camera. Canon support claims there is a plugin but I have not found it. I am an architectural photographer, not a computer person. I don't have time to sort this out nor money to buy more software because the camera manufacturer did not coordinate with the primary photo software maker to be compatible. I will send this back to B&H for a refund.

Great camera, with one big disappointment
To have a 75 MB file from a 50 MP sensor for one-twentieth the price of a Hasselblad is an extraordinary gift. And that's what this camera delivers. The images are sharp as a tack. There's a lot said about moire with the SR version, but if you look at comparisons between the same scene shot by both cameras, there's still moire in photos shot by the S, just not as vivid, but certainly requiring correction. I'm not concerned about the ISO to only 6... Show More

Solid performer
Fantastic camera / files are solid / if you were a 1DSmk3 user, you'll love this camera - in that if you know what you are doing you will get expected results * there is only one complaint - the rear LCD has a warm LUT applied to it - more so than any previous LCD from Canon. If you've been using the 5Dmk3 you will notice the difference. ( we have both in our kit so it's quite obvious - even when comparing the in-menu displays ) Hoping that Canon will give us a software update with some LCD profiling toggle. This is a known reviewer comment ... but it is obvious if you have both in your kits.

1st use of the camera- 07-29-15
I received my Canon 5DSR camera from BH Photo on Wednesday evening. I played around for it for about 20 minutes that evening. I normally do not like to use a new camera on an actual assignment until I have had a chance to play around and familiarize myself with it first. So, I assumed that the Canon 5DSR would handle equal to and surpass my previous 5D Mark II camera. I decided to use this camera on a job the very next morning. After using this c... Show More

excellent , but the time battery life is very short
Like many others say , the image quality that this camera produces is really excellent . The only problem I found in this battery lifetime , which is really short . Even with the battery pack ( double canon LP- E6N ). I wonder if anyone else has this problem? I used EOS since 1996 and is the first time that I care so much for the battery lifetime.

Great files, Slow Buffer Issues
First off, the camera produces some really great images. That said, I'm really struggling with a major issue that Canon has yet to address. The buffer is VERY SLOW. I'm a commercial lifestyle shooter and the review time on the back of the camera is close to 10 seconds and sometimes longer. For anyone that shoots this type of work and needs to check wardrobe, framing, etc this is a real issue for working pros. I've tried 160MBs CF cards from SanDi... Show More

This could be your only camera
Coming from a 5D2, the AF and other control features are a great bonus. The goal for me was fine detail, and that was achieved. I initially did an AF microadjustment with the 24-105. Then took a pic with various objects including some pink crepe myrtle flowers. Swapped the camera for the 5D2 and same lens and took the same picture. Inspecting the 5D2 at 100% and the 5DSR at 66.7% was approximately the same size on the screen. Previously I was alw... Show More

Image Quality is amazing
The image quality of the 5Ds is amazing but it did not came as a surprise. With 50.6 MP on a full frame the pixel density is a little lower compared to APS-C cameras like the 70D. Despite the skepticism that many lenses might not be good enough for such a high resolution, the first test shots confirmed my expectations that all my L-Lenses just give outstanding results. If a lens will take clear, sharp pictures on a APS-C body with 20MP, then it w... Show More
