Lots of Gottchas
Pros: Fast workflow. 20MP camera. Can use standalone (but needs AC power) or connected to computer. Good instructions on Wolverine website. Technical support very quick to reply. Cons: Crops 126 positives by approx. 3mm (roughly 1.5mm on each of the 4 sides). Crops 135 negatives just slightly, even when adjusted to lowest ratio. Color correction adjustments are very limited. Initial scans of 35mm negatives are very blue in hue and the co... Show More

Dust is unmanageable and terrible color control
This product really appealed to me in principle due to its versatility, small footprint, and integrated preview screen and scan controls. Unfortunately, its not much better than a toy in practice. Its actually pretty much fine for scanning B&W negatives, those look good up to about 16x20. But when it comes to color negatives its basically useless. A few of the main issues: * Onboard adjustments are radical. Smallest step size is 0.5 EV and so... Show More

Adequate
After it arrived, and I read the manual and tried to use it, it confirmed my suspicion that it was going to be a low-quality Chinese product. I bought it because I thought it would be a fast way to get decent scans of my home developed film without having to do a lot of manual adjustment on the computer. The menu is low resolution, and it is clunky to operate. The built-in camera crops the film. It is impossible to get full frame 135 scans; you m... Show More

Great Design, Poor Execution
The Titan is a beautiful design, and extremely easy to use, but I cannot recommend it. This device creates images that to me are so flawed that I am longer using it to convert my hundreds of old 35mm slides. The decades old Ektachrome transparencies I converted with the Titan came out as oversaturated and under-focused jpeg files averaging some 4 to 5 MB. The Titan's internal LED light source allows only limited brightness adjustments, so even wi... Show More

ok for snapshots?
This thing is dead simple and very convenient and I will keep it, but will not recommend it if you strongly care about your images. My thought was that I would do a simple scan of a lot of my images, and then send the really good slides to a scanning service. The first things I scanned were from my theatrical work which means really high contrast, deep chroma, and a lot of blacks, and these looked bad. The exposure algorithm averages too much of ... Poor quality digital reproductions
While the Wolverine F2D is fairly easy to set up and use, I found that the digital images generated from my generally high quality 35mm slides were dreadful. While the original images were sharp, the Wolverine images were either soft or downright out of focus, and a lot of noise was introduced. Also the color reproduction was very, very poor - lots of blown out highlights, dark shadows, and extreme contrast, while none of these characteristics ex... Show More

Good results, but minor issues...
I recently uploaded several hundred film negatives to take advantage of current digital editing techniques and provide permanent storage on multiple platforms. While the results were quite good, even excellent, the human factors associated with the loading process are not up to the rest of the design. If your negatives are not completely flat you won't be loading a strip easily and sometimes not at all--they cause physical interference with the e... Show More

Converted all of my 110 Slides
I had a bunch of 110 slides. For 110, the slides are much smaller than 35mm slides, so to view them I would have to use adapters to make the slide frame the size of 35mm slides. These 110 slides are from over 40 years ago and I wanted a convenient way to view and share them. With the Wolverine tool, I was able to view each slide, tweak the appearance if I wanted, and save each slide in a digital format (JPEG). To convert 20 slides (a typical 110 ... Show More

Black and White looks terrible (but there's a way around it)
I've dived into the world of self-development and decided on the Wolverine 8-in-1 as an easy way to get my first negatives online. The machine itself is simple to use and extremely intuitive; converting an entire roll of Tri-X (72 shots for my Olympus Half-frame) only took a few minutes, but the Wolverine's B/W option looks awful. It appears to be a badly done desaturation of their color negative option. HOWEVER, using the Color Slide option work... Show More

Color Negative 135mm scanning
I have only used the scanner for 135mm color negatives. Using the default settings there were some odd artifacts in dark areas of the positive image (white speckles). The scanner allows you to make manual setting for Exposure, RGB Color, and Sharpness. I found that by decreasing the sharpness the artifacts in the dark areas were removed. Scan quality was good for my purposes of archiving family photos. It is great to be able to quickly slide th... Show More

Excellent value for the money
This product produces very nice scans (actually photos) of slides quickly - ideal for old vacation photos, etc. Performance with negatives is not as good. The included slide/film adapters work well, and with a bit of practice, you can scan about 6-8 slides per minute. The HDMI output jack is not HD - it's limited by the resolution of the video adapter that drives the attached monitor, and is much lower. Corrections for color, exposure, etc. are... Show More

It works very well!
I purchased the F2D Titan to convert some very old 35mm slides, 35mm color negatives and black and white negatives to digital. I looked at over 5,000 images and converted around 3,000 to digital. The process went quite fast, inserting and inspecting the slides/negatives was relatively quick and easy. The view screen was bright and well calibrated, the colors and shading that appeared on the screen were what I found in the digital image. The Titan... Show More

OK if you have cardboard slides not so hot on plastic framed
Easy to use on the whole for slides, have not tried on unmounted film. Color rendition fair to good & easily adjusted. Has the option for setting up for five types of slide, 135 which appears to be the standard 35mm slides plus 110 which is self evident plus three I have never heard of 127VPK, 126 KPK & APS, which I don't recognize the names & non of which works well with my few half frame slides. Also, if you have older Agfa slides from early ... Show More

Easy to use, acceptable color, great value
I've only used this for slides so far. I got this so I could scan my slide collection without dismounting every single one. This little scanner is easy as can be to use. Color quality, now... that's a different story. The Wolverine does a fantastic job on about 30% of my slides, an acceptable job on another 30%, and the rest come out supersaturated and/or overly contrasty (of course, they started out like that, and the scanner merely multiplied t... Fulfills it purpose
The scanner fulfills it purpose. Primarily purchased for scanning negatives from decades past, I could only have gotten whatever is retrievable. The few challenges with the product: - it is not always a smooth movement within the slide frame. At times you need to take out the film and shove it a few times before the film moves beyond a notch inside (this is a design issue and can be improved) - This particular module doesnt allow direct save to y... Fast and easy to use!
Great little device! I have several thousand color slides that I am trying to convert to digital images. So far, I am averaging about 1 tray of 36 slides every 30 minutes. That may not sound like much but the time is start to finish, which includes pulling the slide out of the tray, lining it up, adjusting brightness & color (a must after 40 to 50 years of storage), and returning it to the tray. The actual duplication only takes about 2 or 3 seco... Show More

Disappointing performance
I have been using it to convert the old family photographs to a more distributable form. The film formats I need are 126 and 127. It is a nice package and looks great. I find that the picture you see on the TFT screen is not the same colour as the picture saved to the computer. Colour adjustment is best left to those with photographic experience - if you have experience in colour correction, you will get this. Also disappointin... Show More

Wouldn't buy again
This is a cleverly designed product that produces fast, easy copies of negatives and slides. You can copy a lot of stuff in a hurry. It is easy to use and produces repeatable results. It is much faster than a film scanner because it is basically a digital camera with a small sensor that copies the whole image at once. There is no time-consuming, motor-driven scanning. I really like those features. However, both the F2D display and the digital ima... Show More

Almost 4 stars
I've only used it on slides so far. I found that it is best to feed slides in horizontally (landscape) and then flip them in post processing afterwards in order to avoid cropping if fed vertically (portrait). Regardless, post processing cropping is necessary on almost every slide. I can live with these quirks but what I don't care for is that the resulting images are fairly underwhelming. The colors are not good (e.g., bright whites turn out yell... Show More

Clear instructions and available video really help to make the use of this digital converter easy and fun. I am amazed how easily and straight forward it is to convert slides. Does the job quickly and easily
I could kick myself for not ordering this earlier. It makes it so easy to view decide whether to convert or bypass slides. In a few hours a day for several days I was able to go thru a couple of cartons of my mom's slides, selecting about 850 to convert and share with my siblings and kids (each one will get a flash drive of their own). The only caveat--make sure you clean the plates periodically or you'll have dust incorporated in the shots. I tr... Show More

Great gadget
I am always nervous when buying things unseen' There is always the possibility of it not working the way that it is advertised. The thing that convinced me was the video clip on the way that it worked. It is so true to the advertising. I am absolutely sold on this gadget as I have 100's of old photo negatives to scan - this is so much faster than scanning old photos - many of which have faded and don't reproduce so well. As I have had the negatives in a cupboard for many years they have been well preserved. I am enjoying the memories of my children growing up all over again as I scan.

Great tool, but not an end all tool
The Wolverine Data F2D has a place on my tools desk for sure. It has sped up the the process of scanning years of 35 mm slides and film for me. It does a great job on most slides and negatives. I have found that on some items, while I get lower resolution copy, my old 5 megapixel VuPoint does a better job. Then, on occasion, I have to resort back to an old flat bed scanner with a special accessory back light in the cover just for slides that will only do one at a time. So I feel the purchase of the Wolverine Converter was money well spent, especially at the great price from B&H Photo.

If you have low to moderate expectations you'll be happy
This unit is basically a camera that shoots a digital image of your slides or negatives. That's why it takes a shot instantly. But it has some color issues due to the small camera sensor. The sensor is clearly lacking in dynamic range. The converter is only giving JPEG files, so if the color is not correct you've got work to do. Sharpness is very good, enough to see film grain. Color is screaming. Black-and-White images are quite good. If you have low to moderate expectations for this unit, you'll be happy. If you want really good results a higher end scanner may be needed.
