Vello Two-Axis Hot-Shoe Bubble Level

Useful, a bit fragile, could be better
Bubbles could be a bit bigger, but it is still useful. The shoe mount could be a bit thicker (didn't really fit in the hot shoe from my light stand). Shoe broke on first use, kept chipping afterwards. At this point, it's pretty much just a cube bubble level. It's fairly small, so easy to pack and take places.

Didn't know I needed it until I used it.
How could I have been so stupid not to get this before. My landscape photos are now level in two axis and since I use film, correction in Photoshop is not quite as easy. Even with digital, getting it image in camera is always better then some correction in Photoshop. Cheap price to avoid another edit step.

Good RMA Experience
My first bubble level did not level the horizon with the camera in the vertical position, so I asked for a replacement. The B&H RMA process is very well done, and getting a replacement was a non problem. Although, the new one is not perfect (expecting too much?), it is close enough that no one will notice.

Low Profile Bubble Level by Vello
I like the cool factor of this bubble. I purchased this item for two reasons: The low profile and to protect the hot-shoe on my T3i, Very good product this is. Fits very snugly on the shoe and with the profile, does not snag on clothing, camera bag etc. The BEST $ dollars I have spent for this camera!!!

Noticed the difference in one session
I have been having problems getting a nice level horizon. I thought I was holding the camera level, but the Vello bubble level showed me I wasn't. After taking a bunch of shots, I didn't have to adjust any horizons in post processing. A nice accessory if your camera doesn't have a electronic horizon.

In this case, you dont get what you paid for.
For an accessory such as this, I dont think its a cheap price and definitely not up to par with quality... The level came very scuffed and isnt a snug fit on the hot shoe. Im definitely going to try and return this if its free to return.. Buyers be cautious. Wont be buying any more Vello products.

Basic, but does what is supposed to
I have other bubble levels which work fine but have to be removed when not in use. This level has a low profile which allows it to remain on the camera at all times. By staying on all the time, it also keeps the flash contacts clean and serves a second purpose by doing so...as a level, it works fine.

Low-profile Leveler
So I attended a night photography workshop in which the instructor pointed out that an external means of making sure the camera is level, for landscape shots, is extremely helpful. Turns out the instructor was correct, and this little packable object accomplishes that task. Thanks, Laws of Physics!

A+ for Horizontal and Unobtrusive Leveling
This is a rubber-like soft material that inserts securely into your camera hot shoe. It provides both Left/Right and Fore-Aft leveling in the landscape orientation only. This tiny level is unobtrusive and out of the way. Those needing portrait leveling should look into the larger dual axis levels.

Two-Axis Hot-Shoe by Vello
I use this product to insure that when I shoot landscapes with my Hasselblad 203 Fe, I start from a level perspective on two planes......The Vello Level has very readible markings and is simple to use....It is the least expensive of the other levels available from B&H and does an excellent job....

I would buy this product again and again
This bubble level is always on my camera. Wouldn't even attempt a landscape photo without it! This is the third one I have purchased, since they tend to fall out of the D200's hotshoe. I think I have solved the problem with a bit of gaffer's tape. Would purchase again. Hopefully, I won't have to!

Great little accessory...
I bought this to help take (level) candid shots with the camera not brought up to eye-level, just hanging on the strap. Works great, and I keep it in place instead of the hot-shoe cover as this design is a lot less likely to snag on things than some of the other hot-shoe bubble-levels available.

Not so good after all...
After using this level for a while I have to contradict my original review...the level is only accurate when used horizontally. When the camera is rotated to vertical the level is off by quite a bit. There is a measurable (and visually apparent) inconsistency in the molded hot shoe. DO NOT BUY!

Not accurate
This is accurate in one direction. I tested it by turning it 180 degrees. With the other horizontal axis it is not accurate. The black lines must be printed off by a bit. I marked the bubble that is accurate and will use that one. Don't know if I would get a more accurate one if I exchanged it.

Not sure how useful
This product does exactly what it says it does. It supplies you with a 3 axis level that can mount in your hotshoe. I use it only for tripod shots and then only if multiple shots will be stiched together. It's a rather pricey unit that will do the same thing that may be built into your camera.

Low Profile bubble level
I use this level on the hot shoe of my camcorder to check that I am always level especially when I handhold the camera. The level is great considering at any time I could have an external monitor and microphone and this level is great because it really adds Zero weight yet is very functional.

Nice level
Does a good job of showing where level is, although I have to make sure it is slid in all the way for level. I bought a new one because the yellow on my previous one faded (was it the sun or desert heat, I don't know). Without the yellow contrast it is harder to read, although not terrible.

Great tool
I rarely look through the view finder on my camera while I'm taking photographs, so this little level is great for knowing if my shot is straight. Before buying this I would have to straighten the image while editing; now I just check the bubble and boom...the photo is straight. So simple.

Perfect on a Voigtlander Bessa T with an ultra-wide lens!
Bought this to use on a Bessa T body, a rangefinder with no viewfinder. I'm using a 12mm lens on the body, so having a shoe-mounted accessory viewfinder seems less important in many shots than making sure I've got the camera level. This little single-bubble level is perfect for my needs.

A sturdy device with many uses.
This little gem has many uses. It is mainly used in the hot shoe on a camera to make sure the camera is level. It can also be used to make sure a photo hanging on your wall is level. These are tough enough to still work after years of carrying them in a pants pocket with a pocket knife.

Keep it Simple and Look like a Genius
With all the gear you can buy, it's the little things that make the difference. This simple level can help you avoid a fix in Post Production and give your images a Pro look. A level camera and keeping the background free of clutter, is an easy way to increase the impact of your images.

Bad One?
I placed the one I received in my hotshoe, and set it on my tripod to dead level. Then pulled the level out, turned it around, and placed it back in. It showed as being off. Not the result I wanted. I'll save the money and get a tripod head with the levels built in for better accuracy.

It's unreliable.
I bought this to go in my other camera bag (I already have a Kaiser 2-axis level). I found this level to not be able to sense smaller angle differences like my other level. It's indication of 'level' is pretty equivalent to eye-balling it (at least to a more trained eye like myself).

Nice little Bubble Level
I have a small compact tripod and needed a simple level. This fits right into the camera hotshot - protects the hotshot and gives me the level capability I want. I expect it will stay in the hotshot at least 80% of the time as it is unobtrusive and there is no reason to remove it.
