Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens For Nikon with AE Chip

Great quality for a great price!
Opted for the Rokinon over the 14mm Canon L lens since this lens would be primarily for wide angle astrophotography, Milkyway, star trails, etc. When the version with the focus confirmation chip went on sale for not much more that the non chip version, I had to jump on the deal. I Haven't had a chance to shoot the Milkyway, but I did shoot an hours worth of star trails, and it worked well for fireworks too! Build quality seems pretty durable. I expected cheap plastic, but the lens is actually heavy. I'm pretty happy with the lens.

Fantastic lens for the price
Bought this for astrophotography and thus far has been a great lens, especially for the price.

Great lens with a great price!
I love this lens, it is extremely sharp with very little comatic aberration. This is an awesome lens for photographing the night sky. With that said it has no auto focus so may not be for everyone. If I were to buy it again I would buy it without the AE Chip, it doesn't work with my Canon 6D camera. This is a great lens with a great price!

Good images at a reasonable price
This lens is lots of fun at a very good price. The Canon AE version allows you to use focus confirmation indicator/beep. Aperture is set in the camera like other Canon lenses; it does not have an aperture ring, contrary to the web photo, Center is sharp even wide open, Corners are less sharp, but pretty sharp when stopped down. It's very easy to focus using live view with 10x magnification. You may think you have enough dof that it doesn't matter... Show More

Great value!
Love the lens, manual focus and aperture ring take some getting used to, especially since the live view doesn't show anything close to accurate exposure. IQ is fine!

A Steal of a Lens
Ive been using the lens on a few larger projects with crop censor cameras and was blown away by the sharpness on the edges and the lack of bending. I love the lens and think its a steal for less than 400. Id love to try more of the lenses in this line.

Huge value
I purchased this lens for photographs of the milkyway and it is great for that. I also came to realize that is a very fun lens for landscape.

Very happy with my purchase
I haven't had much time to test this lens yet but so far am very happy with it. Looking forward to trying some night shots. I'm fortunate to live where I get to see the Aurora Borealis quite often and can't wait to try this lens out for these.

Inexpensive and great quality
This lens is a very affordable way to begin exploring astrophotography. I use it on my Canon 70d. It is manual (and does not communicate with the camera -- e.g. no auto focus) but I found it very easy to use and it takes very clear pictures. The quality of the photos it produces are much higher than those taken with my kit lens.

14mm Wide
So far I like this lens. Mainly using it for night sky images where focusing to infinity. I struggle with its focus on closer up images in daylight.

Bang for the buck
I'm pleased with my purchase. I'm still a novice in the photography field and asked for recommendations from experienced friends, they recommended this lens for my mountain views and landscapes. The wide angle allows me to capture more in my photo. It easily fits my canon 70D body and is user friendly.

So happy
Love this lens. It's everything I was hoping for. I just got it, and put it through its paces on a few pics, tested the focus, etc. I can't wait to really get familiar with it and get it dialed in. Thank you, B&H!

How can this be?
Out of the box I shot a few controlled test shots. From f2.8 through f22 this lens performed quite well with one glaring problem. The lower left corner was noticeably softer than the rest of the perimeter. This would be the foreground in any vertical shots. Unacceptable in my landscape work. I was hopeful this lens might perform but once again I was mistaken about being thrifty. I returned it for the Nikon 14-24 which has quickly pointed out the error of my thinking.

Niceee
A good wide angle lens for a cheap price. Good for those who don't understand photography yet and don't want to spend $700 on a lens

Definitely a Great LENS !
Thought that I need a lens that would cover those angles that with usual lens remain unnoticed because of their construction. So I decided to embark myself into using a wide angle lens. Did many researches, and decided to go with Rokinon 14mm for my Nikon D810. Definitely worth every millimeter, I could certainly say. Very impressed and satisfied with the result it provides.

Nice piece of kit.
Glad that I spent the extra money for this version with the AE chip. Focus confirmation and lack of an aperture ring to deal with are huge. Not to mention the ease of customer service here at B&H Photo.

Fantastic!!!
A GREAT lens for any camera. I use this lens for astrophotography and it works great. Although it is strictly manual in the majority of its functions, once you get used to it, it works great! No need for automatic lens unless you wanted to pay double the price! Overall a great lens for a great price!

Best Bang for Your Buck
This is truly an amazing lens. I purchased this lens about 5 months ago and its been on my camera 90% of the time ever since. I was looking for a nice wide angle lens for my Nikon d800e and was wondering if this would be a good option with the budget I was working with. Honestly this lens has made me want to only purchase Rokinon products going forward but occasionally I do like to have autofocus. I would recommend this lens to anyone who wants a wide angle and doesnt mind working with manual focus.

Perfect Wide Angle Lens!
I use this lens for video and photography. I was impressed that 14mm wide lens practically does not have any distortions of subjects that I'm filming or photographing. For some reason the exposure simulation works only in video mode on my Canon camera. This lens is fully manual and you have to set everything manually, your camera doesn't communicate with the lens, however I'm into it, I love it! When I first got into photography back in 1998, my first ever camera and a lens was fully manual and mechanical, didn't require any batteries or memory cards :-)

Great Bargain! Sharp and same field of view as the human eye
I love this lens. The sacrifice of zoom and autofocus give you an affordable wide angle and fast lens which is excellent for things like astrophotography or landscapes. The only problem I've found with it is that it doesn't handle rain drops very well - they don't bead. But that's any wide angle lens. Definitely an excellent bang for your buck lens.

Awesome Value
I bought this lens primarily for wide field astrophotography and it has met my expectations and then some, it seems to be very well built, I am very pleased with it.

Great value for money
Saw that this lens was a good budget lens for milkyway photos, and boy do the images pop, very very little chromatic aboration. Manual focus is easy, lens is pretty solid and has some good weight to it. Enjoy using.

Great Astrophotography lense
This is my second Rokinon 14mm after my first one took a tumble. At a f/2.8 this lens is a great start for a amateur astrophotographer. No Nikon auto focus, and you have to put the aperture ring at f/22 for the camera to recognize aperture function.
