Pluses and Minuses

Oct 11, 2019

I bought this tripod to take to Colorado, primarily for its small size and light weight. I also wanted twist locks rather than flip latches, so they wouldn't catch on things in a backpack. It delivers on these attributes. It is nicely made and comes with a carry bag, which I wasn't aware of when I bought it. I felt comfortable using it with a Sony mirrorless and moderate size zoom lenses (including the 55-210 telephoto zoom), but a little less co... Show More

Compact- great for travel or hiking

Aug 8, 2018

I was looking at other lighter tripods around 2 pounds and less. This thing measures around 2.5 pounds. For a light hiker, an extra 1/2 pound for just one piece of equipment is a big sacrifice- one I would not typically make. But I do a lot of photos on top of mountains where it is windy. For both low light or astrophotography, I need to load it up with slower shutter speeds. The Element is the right balance for me. It is not as solid as my big t... Show More

Not really Arca-Swiss compatible

Jun 22, 2018

I Like most things about this tripod. It's sturdy, stable, and a 1/2 lb lighter than my previous tripod that reached the same height. I have two very frustrating gripes with the design. 1. The head is not arca-swiss compatible. The bolt protrudes so far up, that it interferes with mosy arca-swiss plates. Thought about using a lens with an arca-swiss foot? You're playing the lottery. 2. Where are we supposed to hold the supplied allen key... Show More

Good option for small cameras

Apr 16, 2017

I chose the Element over the BeFree because of the higher weight capacity, Arca Swiss plate, and twist lock legs. And most important, the ability to remove the center column to get real low angles for time lapse photography. I use the Element with a small DSLR and ultra wide lens, as well as a micro 4:3 camera. I did a YouTube video on how to remove the center column. The Element will support light DSLRs, mirrorless, and high end P&S cameras at i... Show More

A great affordable travel tripod.

Jan 11, 2017

This Manfrotto Element Small Aluminum Traveler Tripod is wonderful. It's incredibly versatile, compact, strong, easy it work with. It's great to use when I go for a walk, with a dslr/lens attached, light enough to walk with in one hand. The telescoping center column is removable and the ball head is mountable directly to the center section, and with the legs out all the way it goes down to 5 in. ( 12.3 cm ). The spring loaded hook is also removea... Show More

Item Came Faulty, Customer Service No help

Mar 14, 2018

Product came faulty, and fell apart during first usage, WHILE on a shoot inside NASA for SpaceX's recent Falcon Heavy rocket launch. Literally had to spend crucial time looking for missing pieces that fell off the tripod as I was carrying it inside an active launch complex while I was supposed to be there to photograph a historic rocket launch. Customer service unhelpful because ive been too busy/traveling to file a claim. only several days out... Show More

Great compact tripod!

Apr 13, 2018

I was looking for an affordable travel tripod for an upcoming trip and this fit the bill perfectly. I wish that the center column could be lowered and that the quick release plate could be attached securely to the camera without the included tool, but other than that, the tripod is great. You can easily add another strip of a rubber adhesive to the top of the plate to create more friction with the camera and avoid the problem. I made a video comparing this tripod to the PrimaPhoto: check it out!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UEjZXVnnns

Good Tripod - A Few Quirks

Mar 29, 2017

I originally purchased the Element Traveler Big model but wanted to see if it was worth shedding a couple of pounds and buying the smaller one. The larger model is pictured in grey. Pros: - It is lighter by almost a pound - Folds up smaller - Still very well built (the legs are thinner than the larger model) Cons: - No detachable leg to convert into a monopod - Doesn't get very low to the ground when collapsed (see image) - Not as tall

Excellent compact tripod

Apr 13, 2018

This is a great lightweight tripod for anyone who needs to carry their gear for a longer distance. It fits in my hydration pack easily and supports the weight of my Sony RX10 with the lens fully extended (600 mm). The multiple leg positions are great for versatility but you definitely want to avoid using the smallest leg segments in anything but the higher setting, I could see them getting bent otherwise. Solid piece of gear overall.

Pretty fantastic

Dec 2, 2019

Purchased this before a road trip I took throughout the west coast and southwestern parts of the US. As far as travel tripods go, this one can't really be beat when you consider the cost and overall value of what you're getting. It's light, yet still feels sturdy. Mine in particular has undergone about as much abuse as you'd expect strapped to a hiking backpack, and it has yet to fail me!

perfect travel tripod

Jun 13, 2018

great tripod! amazed at how big it goes considering how small it is all folded up. It fits in my bag well and is quite light so is great for traveling. of course the downside of its light wieght is a reduction in stability but it has a hook to hang your bag from to help in harder situations, and i knew of this when purchasing so its perfect for what i wanted it for!

compact and solid!!

Jun 24, 2018

I purchased this tripod for it's size and weight. It folds up nicely and appears to be well built. After switching out the ball head for a fluid head I mounted my spotting scope and..... WOW! I'm very impressed with how sturdy it is with it's small size. This is now my favorite tripod! I'Turnerll be taking this everywhere with me.

Manfrotto Element

Aug 30, 2019

I purchase this tripod for travel photography, it is small enough to fit into my luggage. Fully extended it is study enough to hold my Fuji X T30 camera. If you need more stability or have a larger camera, you will need a bigger and heavier tripod. The price was fair and the construction and design is very good.

The ball head is not arca-compatible

Mar 30, 2019

I had to replace the screw holding the base plate to the ball head with a lower profile screw. Otherwise, the screw protruded in a way that interferes with arca-compatible plates. In this price range, there are many arca-compatible tripods with similar looks, build quality, and functionality.

Perfect size

Feb 12, 2020

Good price for the tripod. I just wanted something I can fit in my bag and get more family photos that I am actually in now! It has served its purpose so far. Ball head handles my Fuji with 16-55 2.8 without any movement when tightening and it is quick and easy to set up and put back.

As advertised

Jul 1, 2019

I like the size and weight. The head is reasonable for the price. It is made for bridge cameras not heavy DSLRs. The drawback to this tripods portability are the twist extensions. Levered extensions would make it quicker and easier to move from locale to locale.

Great for Motorcycle Travel!

Jul 15, 2019

A very nice quality unit that packs up small, comes with a travel bag and fits right in my MC top case with lots of room to spare. It's perfect for on the road. This tripod and at least two cameras are with me whenever I go for a ride/travel.

Very durable and also portable. It's easy to attach your camera too and also set up. It takes getting use to if you don't normally use a tripod. But once you got it, it's a breeze

I like this small tripod, it is stable enough for my XT30 Fuji camera. The controls work well and it seems to be very well made.
