Works perfectly

Apr 21, 2019

Works perfectly at keeping the camera stable and in place. However, between ordering it and receiving it, I switched to Gitzo tripods so...it looks nice sitting in my drawer.

A way to solve your camera quick release plate twist

Nov 13, 2017

Don't be fooled by the Architectural word, if you want your camera to stop that uncomfortable twisting specially when on a monopod this is the one to get, If your camera has a battery grip or one already integrated (like Canon 1D/X Series) might no fit within the metal lip, but still the camera will feel solid attached to it and won't have movement between gear and quick release plate, just apply a piece of electrical of gaffer tape on top of the lip the battery grip mounts on just in case you want to avoid getting the bottom of the grip scratched which probably won't anyway

Works

Apr 17, 2016

Was concerned whether or not the mounting plate was the same and it is, so it clamps right down on my Monfrotto tripod. The top piece slides back and forth to line up perfectly with the base of your camera. It also reverses, as the lip on one side fits some cameras better in the front and some better in the back. Both my Nikon D90 and D7100 both fit better in the back, so you pop off the clip, spin the plate around, then pop the clip back on.

Just what I needed

Sep 7, 2015

Works great keeping a DSLR from spinning down when the camera is in the vertical position. It even works with my battery grip.

Seems to work

Dec 1, 2014

This piece of equipment appears to prevent my D810 and 24-70 from swiveling downward when the camera is oriented vertically. But i've only had it a few days so it's a question of whether the anti-twist plate will continue to function when the rubber on the baseplate falls off as it normally does after a few years. Nevertheless, it seems to do what it promises.

Perfect for mounting my 70-200

May 16, 2014

I needed a secure and easy way to mount my 70-200 to my tripods and monopod and this release plate fits the bill perfectly.

Quick Release plate by Manfrotto

Feb 18, 2013

I have a good tripod. I use it mostly when I am using my 400 mm lens on the camera. This lens attaches to the tripod, rather than the camera. So, when I want to do something that needs the camera to be really steady, it was a pain to take everything apart to use it. So, I just got a release for the bottom of the camera too. Now, I can use the tripod with either with just a click. :)

Does the job

Jan 9, 2013

Over all good. Had some trouble with the spring washer which locks the screw in place. Had to adjust the spring clamp. Maybe a internal star washer would be better.

Great Product

Jun 25, 2012

I have several cameras that I switch out frequently. Additional Quick Release Plates were the best and least expensive approach. The anti-twist feature on the 200PALARCH-14 plate is an improvement over the plate originally supplied with my tripod. I am pleased with product and its improvements.

No alignment pin - just what I needed

Apr 17, 2012

I needed a plate for a Manfrotto head that did not have the alignment pin attached. It was hard to find one, but this one fills the bill perfectly. Obviously nothing extra special about a QR plate, but if you don't want the alignment pin, this one's for you.

Quick Release is what it says !!!

Sep 7, 2011

Only 4 stars due to price. I use this QR on all my Canon camera bodies and on additional items I may attach to my tripod or monopole device. This model has the little right angle keeper that prevents the camera from twisting. Just what I wanted and need. I often times use a Nodal Ninja panoramic head and other panoramic devices (some homemade), to shoot elevated panoramas. I have the corresponding Manfrotto plates on all the connection points for quick & easy setup.

The better plate

Jun 20, 2011

I'm not sure why this isn't the standard Manfrotto plate. I kept having problems with the camera and ringlight twisting when I was trying to shoot a vertical. This solves that problem completely, by locking the plate not just to the bottom of the camera, but along the side too, keeping it from twisting on the securing screw.

So glad to get this!

These tend to disappear in a school because the teachers take them away with their cameras. Being able to purchase extras to replace the old ones is wonderful. I will be guarding these carefully!

I don't know of a better way to keep a camera from twisting on the mount when being used in a prortait format.

a handly little item

Apr 24, 2011

I use it on a gripped D300s, and it works well for keeping the camera's weight from pulling it downward while in portrait orientation. While I haven't had any problems with it yet, it really does need a longer screw. Common sense should have told somebody at Manfrotto that.

Ok for Nikon D7000

Mar 1, 2011

Easy to use, it helps stabilize the camera and big lens, in order to avoid torque movement of the camera. Will be better if the vertical metal was padded, it can hurt camera if not used carefully. Also, can scratch the plastic cover of LCD in DSLR

Plate was what I ordered

This lets me have a plate on both my cameras so that I don't have to switch plates to use a camera on my tripod

Nice

Jan 11, 2011

I love this quick release design, it works so well. the anti-twist ridge is helpful and worth a few extra bucks. the only potential issue seems to be that the screw isn't as long as some might want. you can get it into the camera but its only holding on by a thread maybe two.

works great on D700

Sep 26, 2010

I bought this to use with my Manfrotto 322RC2. The plate fits my D-700 and the Nikon 80-200 barrel without having to take anything apart. The silver plate on the bottom slides to adjust. Now I have the orig and this one. One I will keep on the lens. I must admit I haven't been out in the field but have been playing with it at home and am pleased with how secure it holds things when moving the camera vertical.

Works as advertised

Sep 16, 2010

At first I hesitated to order this as I thought it might end up in the closet collecting dust, but I found out it is indispensable in taking tripod mounted vertical shots using a telephoto or zoom lens. Only con is need a screwdriver to reverse plate.

I would recommend this plate!

Aug 31, 2010

At first glance, this plate looked smaller than any other plates I've used on my tripods. I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy it was. On top of that, it held my Canon Mark IV with a normal lens very sturdy. I only used this twice, but there was no slipping or twisting.

I thought I might need this X=tra plate for my camera when I ordered tripod & grip. but 322rc2(manfrotto)grip came with plate. shouldn't have to buy it. it was my mistake.

Didn't fit, confusing bunch of items!

Jul 10, 2010

The build quality is fine, but I'm still not sure what fits what with these things. I had to return this one because it wasn't compatible with my Manfrotto adapter. Frustrating. Does this company even make a shorter plate that fits on the 503 head? I would like to use the same plates for both my video and DSLR cameras, but I haven't been able to find a way with Manfrotto. I do have it set up, but the plate I am using sticks out awkwardly on the DSLR.

Architect anti-twist quick release plate

Jul 1, 2010

I use my tripod often, it is not cumbersome to just keep part of the plate on my Nikon and to simply snap it onto the plate lock on my tripod head when needed. Definitely worth the extra ten bucks.
