Poor Design
This mounting plate contains an attachment to limit the movement of your camera when taking vertical photos. However, the screw did not have enough length to attach to the camera when it had to extend through both the mounting bracket and the restricting plate. I used the plate without the bracket and probably should have saved $ by returning it and just buying the bracket in the first place.

Works Perfectly
I replaced my normal RC2 plate with this to prevent twisting when shooting vertical with my D300 and 24-70 lens. The Architectural plate does not fit the D300 perfectly, but you can find a position of the lip (at back of camera works better, without the plastic LCD cover on) that fits well enough. If it had come with a thinner top rubber pad, there would be another position of the lip that worked better. You only need this for a heavy lens that does not have a foot and rotating collar.

Secure fit on quick release Manfrotto
I prefer this model to that standard quick release. The anti-twist release is secure when properly installed on your camera. The quick release function is not impaired. I great improvement on the standard model for a small additional charge.

Ex plate
If you're tired of your camera twisting downward on your tripod every time you turn your camera vertical with a lens that has any weight at all to it, you should get one of these. Works perfectly.

Secures the camera
Does a great job of keeping my Olympus E500 from swiveling on the monopod. I plan to get another one soon along with a better tripod head. Then I'll keep the plate attached to the camera for easier handling.

Works well
Have one for my Nikon D80 and D3x. D3x may be a little too large to work most effectively but it does work much better than original twisting plate.

Anti-twist Quick Release Plate
This anti-twist plate has made a huge difference with my large, heavy telephoto lenses. Before when I put the camera in a vertical position, nothing I did could stop the twisting. That's no longer a problem.

DID NOT WORK FOR ME
Since it has an extra plate the screw becomes smaller and it goes only a few turns in to the camera. It does not work with my NIKON D300 since the camera do not have any strait edges at the bottom. Not secure.

no more rotation of camera on tripod.
I sell stock photography to two magazines. I noticed that no matter how hard I locked my old quick release to the camera, it would work loose, and my camera would rotate on the tripod. Not a lot, but enough to make me notice. You would set the shot like you wanted, and then watch as the camera moved just a bit. Don't let the name architectural fool you. If you don't want the camera to slip a little, when set for horizontal pictures, this quick re... Show More

If you've got the appropriate Bogen/Manfrotto head , you're going to need this. No bells or whistles, doesn't come in colors--just rock-solid function!
