Research, know your needs and purchase the best.
A couple of month ago I decided to buy a new tripod head. I knew what my needs were and I did research on B&H reading reviews and spec on several manufactures. The CB-38 FTR ball head system by FLM became my top choice. Once I received the ball head I was so impressed with it that before I mounted it on the tripod I took it into the studio and did a product shoot of it. I've been able to use it in the studio and last weekend I tested it in temper... Show More

B&H misleads
I bought my Leica S2P and 120MM Summarit from B&H. When I wanted an L bracket, only a competitor offered one. It had an Arca Swiss quick release. I looked at FLM, because Leica began selling two styles. In B&H's description for the FLM CB-38 FTR they say: The quick release system includes an Arca-type clamp and plate. I took that to be compatible with the L bracket. It was not.

Beatiful Precision
I use my FLM CB-38 FTR with QRB-50 II on a Gitzo Traveler GT2542T. Mostly for long exposure landscape photography, and low light photography. The engineering, fit and finish, ergonomics and smooth operation are first class. The controls require about 5 minutes to master. Not only is this FLM ball head a joy to use, but it also looks beautiful. Bravo FLM!

Very Happy.
I use this for heavier lenses. Some of the reviews say that it takes some time to get used to he adjustment nobs and ring, but I experienced no problems using them. There was a very minor amount of travelling when locking the system in place. The clamp and plate are very stable.
