Awesome Professional Headphones!

Jan 4, 2010

These headphones are great! They are almost identical to the MDR-7506 sound wise and appearance wise. You might as well save some money and go with these since they sound very similar. I love the coiled cord too. I use these when editing short films as well as when I am being a boom operator on films.

Great headphones for videographers

I now own three pairs of these. Using 2 on corporate video shoots and one in the studio. They are super-durable, fold up small and produce quality sound. Great value.

Very good product

Dec 30, 2009

Very comfortable and these have been around a long time so there are no bugs to work out. This is my second pair. My first pair are about 18 years old and work just fine. I bought these for my daughter so I could have my older ones back. She is very happy with them. Just for your info. I am a professional musician and not the biggest Sony fan but this is a great product!

Great set of cans!

Dec 29, 2009

I have purchased 3 of these over the years. I think they are the best value out there for studio quality headphones. They are very comfortable, even after long periods of time. They're great for reducing peripheral noise, and they sound great. Nice fat lows and crisp, clean highs. There are more expensive headphones out there, but in my opinion, you don't get a whole lot more for your money. The only drawback is that after lots of use, the ear pads wear out and must be replaced.

Excellent headphone!

Dec 28, 2009

Owned a pair since 1978 (junior year in college): though the earplugs are worn, still working, same great sound as Day 1. Excellent sound, high fidelity, very comfortable. Probably the best VALUE one can find. Sounds better than the MDR 7506 (also very good sound, similar physical design/comfort) probably due to wider frequency response. I'm surprised it is still available after all these years! Will buy another one just in case....

V-6 headphones..

Dec 15, 2009

They have been making these headphones for years. For good reasons, they don't cost an arm and leg and they work great, sound good, well built. I use mostly on my guitar effects and in the studio. Check the prices and you will see B & H has the best price on these headphones, you will find!!!!

Best Bang for the Buck

Dec 1, 2009

These headphones are a real all around great performer. They are very comfortable. If you are listening to hours of music for relaxation or a movie late at night, they will not wear you out. I have purchased other expensive noise canceling headphones which were quite a discomfort overall. The sound quality is magnificent, truly earns its category rating of studio monitor. B&H's price makes it even a better bargain. They retail almost every where else for over $.

Sony's BEST headphone!!!

Nov 24, 2009

These headphones may truly be the BEST audio offering/value in the entire Sony headphone line up, with efficient performance, a balanced/accurate & lively sound signature up & down the frequency range, along with excellent portability & durability. No audio enthusiast, studio buff, or mobile audiophiles should be without one or two!!! If you don't own one yet, do yourself a favor & pick up a pair, it's a purchase you will not regret!!!

Good sound

Nice light weight headphones. No complaints except that it's more for people with smaller heads and it doesn't really seal off the outside noise, but it all depends on where you gonna be using it .

BEST EVER!!!

Sep 18, 2009

Without doubt, best quality sound one will ever hear. My ears depend on good sound as an Audio A1/Systems for major events and video shoots both in N America and Internationally. This is my fourth pair over 25+ years in the business of making the artist/talent/CEO message heard clearly. I depend on these daily. As noted in other reviews, only drawback is ear pads wear quickly. And yes, alternative vendors do work great nor have an affect on the quality of sound. Thank you Sony!

Excellent headphone for the price

Aug 3, 2009

Bought for commuting by bus and when I need a break at home to crank the tunes. Great sound, but I haven't tried many others at this level or better. The descripton doesn't show how they fold. I was hoping the would rotate and lay flat so you could fit them in a day pack or brief case, but no such luck (they fold inward) to form a ball. Over the ear is a great way to go. My previous Sony one's were on ear types and not nearly as comfortable nor reduced outside as much as these. They run off my ipod, but don't know for how long.

Great Headphones

Jul 9, 2009

These headphnes are awesome. They provide great sound quality, a long but managable cord, and can fold up nicely and fit into the bag for a relatively easy travel experience. I got them to use with my home audio equipment, along with travel use on my laptop. If you are looking for something to travel with, there may be better options, seeing as even if you fold it up, if you have a small bag, it may not fit. I havent had any trouble yet though, s... Incredible headphones

Jun 23, 2009

These cans sound great with my first generation Zune. Everything is crisp and clear, the sound quality is just amazing! I am a fan of bass and although its not earth shattering bass, it's more than enough and does not sound distorted at all. As far as I can tell there really are no cons to this product although they do squeeze your head a little bit (I wear size 7 1/4 fitted baseball hats just to give you an idea of the size of my head). I have @ a dozen pairs of headphones including Sennheiser HD280, Grado SR50, Bose Noise Cancelling HP, Etymotic ER6, and several others...The Sony MDR v6 outperforms any of these with clear transparent sound, clean midrange, solid bass, and very pleasant listening experience, along with comfort...a great buy...so far they can't be beat for the price...

Great Headphone

May 20, 2009

I own six pair of V6s I bought in 2004. Two live with a touring sound rig, two at home and two in the studio. At FOH I like how these headphones cut through the din of loud live music. When soloing a channel I'm able to hear well enough to fix EQ issues and pick up buzz and hum even at high surrounding sound pressure levels. At home I do a lot of rough cuts and I like the V6s because they do not emphasize low frequencies. They are not the absolut... Show More

Good but not best

Apr 16, 2009

I bought these headphones to do professional field audio. For the price they sound great and are well made except for one problem. The soft ear covers will not stay on the headphones. I must have put the covers back on the headphones at least five times on one shoot. Once I got home I selectively spot super glued the covers on. I have done three shoots since and they have not fallen off once.

Should have bought these YEARS AGO

Mar 24, 2009

I produce a nationally syndicated show using audio recorded at different times, in different places, by different people, and mix them to sound like a single occurrence. Differing backgrounds are a HUGE factor for me. These let me hear everything from an off-mic whispered conversation to an AC system kicking on at the other end of the room. If I see even the lowest levels - I will hear a source sound. Due to the uncolored nature of the MDR-V6s I have the added comfort of knowing everyone will hear my production in as pleasant a manner as possible even EQ'ed to their own preference.

The sounds is so clear, and seems so natural. The output is also very well balanced to my ear (no required to make any adjustment to either the bass, treble or mid range of the player). I am so glad it works better than than my old MDR-V1, which is also great.
