Very good, but could be better

Nov 27, 2017

I'm using those headphones for reference in my home studio, while doing live sets for soloing channels and simply for listening to music in&outdoors. The low end is a bit too loud for a reference pair, as is the top band. Noise isolation is really good, keeping the quality on the streets. The shells are not isolated well enough though, so you might experience scratches, pops and clicks if they're touched. More for listening to music than for work, but it's a good pair anyway.

not a 7506 upgrade

Aug 15, 2018

was hoping for an upgrade from the 7506 lack of low end, brittle highs, odd folding, cable pinching, pads wearing out issues. what I ended up with was great bass response comfort. however the high end may not be brittle but it is extremely low. the mids are so bad I couldnt even hear a b3 pad in my mix that was clearly evident every where else? In short they remind me of beat headphones. the only thing I use them for is to check the low end in my mixes. for that they do well.

Clear, crisp, and flat

Sep 13, 2019

I've been using mdr-7506s for years and they're still my go-to workhorse headphones anytime I need to travel but I wanted something slightly better that I could keep at my desk. The 7510s are crisp, clear, and the extended frequency range compared to the 7506s is noticeable. That said, the response is flat, but for me that's a good thing. They're also very comfortable for extended wearing. I'd recommend the 7510s and 7506s equally, it really depends on what your use case is.

Great headphones

Aug 21, 2012

I use these for audio recording work. I find that some of the bigger and more expensive headphones press on my ear cartilage in a way that starts to hurt over time, and these don't. The sound is accurate through them, the fit is good - I can clearly focus me on the audio from the recording and not hear ambient noise in the room - and the price-to-quality ratio is good. Thumbs up from me. Downside: if you throw them across the room when you're frustrated, they break.

overated slightly

I think the audio quality is great more on the brighter end side but i feel the headphones are a little too heavy for my likings and i cant see myself wearing these headphones for numerous hours unless im trying to build strength on my neck but overall its a good headphone i went ahead and exchange them for a slighter lighter headphones sony mdr7506 for a way less less price too and i use these for mixing which was the main purpose of purchasing the mdr 7520.

A great closed back headphone

Mar 29, 2016

Using the cans for monitoring my fender rhodes, recording/mixing and general listening and they are my new favorite headphones for sure. As someone who used the 7506 for years, and will still continue to do so, I am happy to have a new option. As read in other reviews before I made the purchase, they can be perhaps too clean on the low end but I enjoy hearing everything as best as possible. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great new headphone.

Insufficient

Sep 14, 2011

I used these headphones with a prosumer camera and azden mic for an indie film production. The product was not comfortable, but more importantly, randomly fizzed with poor quality feedback. I tested the other equipment and it was indeed the headphones. Cheap. This is a harsh criticism, but I bought them based on too many good reviews. Near the end of the shoot, I stopped wearing them and ruined a scene because I could no longer pay attention to quality.

Outstanding out of the box

Nov 15, 2011

Critical listening, audio production. I own Sennheiser HD650's which I love, but can't always use due to their open design in my home studio for isolation purposes. These fit the bill nicely. They're not completely burned in, but even out of the box they sound great. Highly responsive bass, intelligible mids and crisp highs. I love them. They're also comfy and have the perfect length removable cable. I use them with my CEntrance DACport headphone amp.

Dont Like The Sound.

Jul 19, 2011

Hello, I just bought a Sony MDR 7510 and the truth I did not like one bit the sound, I have a Sony MDR 7506 and remains the best Sony headset, it sounds clearer, more natural, more beautiful treble, etc. ... I really do not recommend it, those who thought change its 7506 or bother to take my example and I've lost $, by luck I could sell and get my invercion a suggestion I have them lay it on a Sony MDR 7506 Deluxe Pearstone earpads and remember me.

functions as advertised

Feb 26, 2016

I use this product for home studio recording and mix downs, since I live in an apartment I rarely play music on speakers, so I needed headphones that reproduced a wide range of frequencies from lows to highs & these headphones gave me a better range than some of the lower priced headphones I have, which helps in equing mix downs. It does add some coloration on the low end but not too much, bottom line I would recommend this product for the price.

Sony MDR-7510 Pro Studio Headphones

Jan 11, 2014

I purchased the MDR-7510 headphones last month and am still in the process of breaking them in. I listen to everything from Bach to Zappa and find these headphones to be excellent. I'm not quite sure if they sound any better than the older (discontinued) MDR-V6 Studio Monitors that I have used for the past 25+ years. Either way, the bass is not overpowering. Mids and highs are very good also. They are comfortable to wear over long periods.

Good long cord, poor construction

Mar 23, 2016

I really like the longer cord and the screw on 1/4 adapter so I can use it on professional field gear. After 3 months part of the headband failed, so it fully extended until one ear fell off. I tried to fix it properly to no avail, but tape seems to hold it together just fine, so now I'm working with taped up headphones. Still there are not many options with the long cord and 1/4 plug so I'm sticking with these.

Adequate for the Job

Apr 12, 2015

I use this product to edit narration on a computer. Had a pair for at least five years and one of the plastic hinges broke, Did not see a way of ordering the part online, so I opted to re-order a pair and keep the old set for spare parts. Sound reproduction is good. Fairly comfortable for short, but not long periods of time. I'd rate it higher if Sony provided an easy way to order spare parts for this product.

Made me a believer!

Aug 26, 2013

I use these cans to check my mix in the studio. I have alway preferred open back headphones but the sound stage with the MDR-7520's is excellent. The power handling and clarity is amazing. Among the best I have used when high volume is necessary. Very light, comfortable and well built. And most importantly the sound quality is flat and beautiful. There isn't any thing bad I have to say about them at all.

Good product

Jul 9, 2016

Not a recording pro, I bought this model to monitor recordings of non-musical low frequency sources in noisy environment. Good isolation of outside noise, clean reproduction of lows was all I was looking for. This model won my testing over competitors in the same price range. Closed back design would not be my first choice for music listening. But at this price the 7520 will have to do the double duty.

Headphones for a Drummer

May 28, 2014

These are very good headphones - Isolation is very good and they are very easy to wear for long periods of time. They are quite musically transparent with very good Vocal reproduction. They seem to a lack Bass (compared to an older Sony pair that are no longer produced). The length of lead is excellent - allows much more movement that most others I came across. All things said - these are very good.

They used to be good...

Dec 14, 2016

I've used these phones in studio for years - sounded good, fairly, durable, nice long cord, comfortable for long sessions. But I re-order them after most have broken headbands. That usually happens after several years. But these last ones I ordered started breaking pretty much as soon as they were out of the box. I guess this is a common problem now. Going to something else next time.

Clarity, comfort and power !!!

Jun 14, 2014

Excellent clarity and power, these things sound phenomenal. I'm listening to old albums that I've heard a thousand times and noticing things for the first time, like they were remastered. I have a decent pair of Audio Technicas that don't even come close, I'm officially a Sony headphone fan. Super comfy and they block out the vast majority of ambient sound, highly recommend them !

Awesome product

Jun 3, 2018

I use these to monitor voice recording. I can wear these headphones for hours with my glasses and not be uncomfortable. The long coil cord allows for short mobility without pulling on equipment. The sound is clear and crisp. I have listened to music with them and again pure sound enjoyment. Well worth stepping up to if you were looking at a less expensive set.

Excellent Headphones with CREAKY JOINTS

Nov 23, 2019

If you want to enjoy these NICE sounding headphones you're more than likely need to get lucky on your draw, because mine came Mechanically Noisy, CREEKY in the Joints, it makes the headphone experience COMPLETELY USELESS. If you want to fix them, you're going to need Dental Floss and wrap around many times TIGHTLY. Stay away from these and get another pair.

Wow

Apr 30, 2014

All I can say is wow. I've been using the Sony 7509 for a few years for recording/monitoring/mixdowns and this is such an upgrade, it's amazing to hear stuff I haven't been hearing! Beautiful sound throughout the spectrum, highs, lows, mids, and great clarity. It's a little tighter fit than the 7509's but so then the isolation is greater. Highly recommended.

Excellent

Jun 27, 2017

I've owned 7506s for many years and have always had problems with the high high range on them. My mixes would always sound dull on other systems due to the 7506s brightness. The 7510s are definitely an upgrade. They won't flatter your tracks but it will give a much cleaner flat response, needed to have a closer representation of your work. Highly recommend.

Low Price & High Quality Sound

Nov 19, 2014

I have a collection of both popular and classical music. These headphones make both types of music sound good. Detail and sound stage are very good. Acoustic music sounds natural with no exaggerated bass. The fit is very comfortable for my head and ears. Can listen for over an hour without discomfit. The price is amazing considering the high quality sound.

I recommend these cans

Oct 5, 2016

Love the flexible coiled cord, good screw type phono plug adpt, Nice felt carry bag. Best of all is the sound. I think it has a balanced non fatiguing sound for extended listening. Instruments have good detail without sounding too harsh from a personal computer port. Comfortable over the ears cushioned pad which rejects many outside sounds.
