Excellent APS-C sensor

Aug 25, 2015

I was upgrading my Sony Alpha-700 camera to this Alpha 77-II body. I am using the new body with my older Zeis lenses. The camera is very easy to use either for standard photography or video. Because my Zeiss lenses are so heavy, I do not notice the lower camera weight. This camera is the top of the Sony APS-C line (it also may be the last of the series?). I was looking for the highest resolution APS-C camera body to use with the Zeiss lenses.

A77II a big improvement over A77

Aug 25, 2014

This upgrade of the A77 addressed most of my issues I had with the original A77. Some of which I did not find troublesome until I got the A99. Most improved is the ISO performance, the buffer size, the Mode dial and Lock Button (like the A99) and more programmable buttons. Of particular use is the in camera focus range limiter which works with any lens. The improved menu is easier to navigate despite having 42 more base options.

Top Shooter!

Dec 4, 2014

This is an upgrade to my A77 and I am very happy with the autofocusing and image quality. If you are knocking this camera because it does not have GPS then you didn't do your homework! I am much more inclined to use the WiFi feature as it is handy for sharing pic files with my devices. I will test the low light performance with the 35mm f1.4 soon. Takes amazing photos of my sons' baseball/ pitching and other action photography.

great improvement

Jul 1, 2014

As an owner of A77 earlier, I am fascinated by new A77II's built-in Wi-Fi/NFC it is an amazing feature, no need to have an external monitor for video shots I will sell mine. Plus they smoothed the curves of body, you can feel the quality now, added 79 point AF module with 15 cross-type, improved the LCD screen, joystick is more sensitive now, thanks weird AF assist-lamp has disappeared. I am so happy with my new A77II

Awesome AF

Jul 22, 2014

Finally went out to shoot my A77II yesterday at a outdoor Jazz Concert. For the money the A77II is amazing when considering the next jump up is either a D4s or 1Dx, my only complaint which is to be expected is high ISO I was shooting at ISO 1600 RAW and processed in LR5.5 with NR turned on about 40% images are good to very good yet not great. Oh well there is something to be said, you get what you pay for

Alpha a77ll DSLR body

May 28, 2015

I transitioned from Minolta to Sony camera equipment shortly after Sony bought out Minolta. My first Sony body was an Alpha a57 which I still use. In order to avoid damaging my longer lenses when I needed to switch to a smaller lens, I purchased this Alpha a77 ll body. I am setting up the camera menus now, and I will be working with the new body in a variety of shooting conditions over the next 5 weeks.

So far, so good!

Jan 3, 2017

The setting are a little bit different than the a77 I have so I'm still playing around with it seeing what works best and how it performs with my different lenses. But the early results are excellent and I think this is going to be an excellent camera that I will use for a long time. Still would like to get the a99II, but that stupid thing has been on back order for going on two months. =)

Great Camera

Mar 11, 2015

I have owned five A77s and I now own two A77MkIIs. Needless to say, I like this family of cameras. I especially like the EVF and in-body stabilization. I've also owned the A99, but I am much happier with the A77MkII. I love the title LCD, quiet shutter, AF system. Downside, Sony seems to be abandoning the Alpha line of cameras on favor of the mirrorless line.

Poor Quality control

Jan 22, 2017

I am in the process of returning my 4th Sony A77II. The most recent from B&H has a burn in on the glass of the top display screen. One of the others had a SD card overwrite problem. i shot all day at the zoo and the next day at Rock City Garden and the photos were writing over earlier photos I had takes. ruined about 80 photos that took hours to shoot.

Love this Alpha II

Jun 25, 2015

Great design. A very versatile camera, for any aspect of photography. Used for outdoor photos, wildlife, dogs, people, AND my favorite: abstract photos, using one of the many settings available. Experimenting with different lenses, Sigma,Tamron, Minolta and Rokinnon. Replaced one of my A-65's with this unit, I'm glad I did. I will update this review.

Best camera for price

Jan 5, 2015

I had a Sony A580 and decided to upgrade to the A77II, so glad that I did. The A77II is so much faster, quiter, and has so many buttons that you can customize depending on your shooting style and purpose. The camera does what other Sony cameras do, with the built in HDR and also the easy panoramas, which just make it easier to shoot better pictures.

Bet APS-C camera on market

Aug 16, 2014

I upgraded to the a77 a year-and-a-half ago and loved it. So, when the a77ii came out, I had to have it. And it is worth the upgrade. Comparing images shot with each using the same lens shows a marked impdrovement in resolution and detail. Plus, much improved high iso capture. And the improved LCD is nice. It is the best APS-C camera on the market.

New to DSLR

Aug 7, 2014

I'm an amateur photog and previous experience was with a Minolta 800si or a point and shoot digital. This camera allows me to use all of my Minolta lenses which is a huge plus. The pictures look great as I'm experimenting with all of the functions and I just quickly delete any evidence when I choose the wrong function. It's a great way to learn.

Sony a77M2

Sep 25, 2014

Actually I used to have a Sony a77. The a77M2 have changed a lot. One of the most important changes is the Bionz x processor. It improves the picture quality. I can tell the pictures have richer tones and get brighter than before. Most of the buttons have been redesigned. When I pressed or rotated the buttons, I felt like this was a new camera.

GR* Camera!

Mar 16, 2015

I used A700 & A77 before getting A77II, so I thought I know all about this camera before I got it, but it still pleasantly surprised me with the performance, high ISO photos and improvements over the previous models. At this moment, there is no other camera in the world I'd rather have to cover almost every need of a photographer.

Alpha a77 II DSLR Camera

Jan 17, 2016

I love the camera. The speed is phenomenal both indoors and outdoors with perfect focus. The view finder extends and allows you multiple positions, I can wirelessly send any picture to my iPhone or my TV. I have never had a camera with such great response. It's a bit heavier than previous cameras I've, but it's worth it to me.

I read the reviews before making the purchase and all the hype was true! Very happy with the camera and B&H shipped it fast and free so I ccould get my hands on it quickly! Thanks B&H!

Great Camera - Good Value

Apr 3, 2016

This is my 4th Sony DLSR camera. The previous model A58 died after almost 200K pictures were taken. I see a couple of good improvements especially in AF ,White balance, and overall mechanism of moving parts. Downsize - to shot auto flash, set a couple of simple functions you need to go to set ups instead pushing one button.

Great upgrade from Alpha 580

Aug 9, 2014

I'm loving it! I've had this camera now only 3 weeks and noticeable difference from the A580. The 580 is a keeper for low light; but I was looking to upgrade, I'm happy I made the move. The colors are vibrant, ISO is great at 6400, lots of features, and overall a great experience and worthwhile upgrade, go for it!

This is my second Sony Alpha a77. My previous one was damage after 3 years of use, and I chose to replace it with the newer version rather than spend $ on repairs. I have been very pleased with the camera function, the images are great, and I believe the newer version has some nice additions in the programming.

Meaningful Improvement to Original a77

Best improvement to me (there are others) is the clearly lower noise level and improved image quality due to better jpeg processing compared to the original a77. Hi ISO performance is significantly improved At its current price it is a bargain. All owners of Sony/Minolta-Mount glass should have one.

Met expectations

Jun 20, 2015

Take primarily wildlife and landscapes. The AF speed exceeded my expectations. Sony does not include enough pertinent info on the camera. No port for manual shutter release. Had to purchase remote system. Haven't figured out how to set this up as yet. The remote is built for Canon products.
