perfect mirrorless system combo for me!

Jul 28, 2014

I bought this after years of point & shoots - I did a portrait project at work with a co-worker's canon sl1 with a great sigma prime and was hooked. I chose the a6000 for a number of reasons: great specs (sensor size, continuous drive, image/video quality) size/weight/build quality (am I comfortable carrying it? am I deathly afraid of a little ding to the body?) ease of use (do i love using it? was it easy to pick up, find settings, get shooting?... sony gets my vote for its innovation

Jul 25, 2014

This is the perfect every-day walk-around camera for semi professional or enthusiast like me. Over all it fit the role I wanted it for. My set-up is Sony A6000 f4/ 16-70 Zeiss Lens 998.00 cost moore than camera. This lens very sharp, it takes much better pictures compared to kit lens. I used side by side Canon 6D $dollars camera with prime 24-105 lens, Sony has the edge. Canon lost its bang. I do not want to carry heavy camera when I travel. Sony gets my vote for its innovations. Thank you B@H FOR YOUR PERSONAL PERFORMANCE AND HELP.

Incredible camera, fast, light , sharp

Jul 22, 2014

Purchased this camera to use with my Sony A77 when I don't want to carry the extra weight. I have a feeling that this may well replace the A77 permanently. I am using it with the 18-105 Gglass lense which make it bulkier but still lighter than the A77. I do a lot of street photography and have found that its supper fast focus really helps grab those shots that normally I would miss. Battery life is not near as good as the A77, but not bad, Plan to buy two batteries

Enjoying the camera despite minor quirks

Jul 19, 2014

After upgrading from a point-and-shoot camera there's no comparison. I'll admit that I'm still learning the controls, but the menu layout is really helpful in finding the right settings. The picture quality is really nice and the camera is just the right weight. The only thing I've noticed is that it's a bit uncomfortable to hold. Like others have stated, the camera grip is a bit too small. Battery life could have been better, but at least it's n... Show More

Used for travel: compact, versatile, great photos. This camera can take great pictures anytime anywhere and it is small enough so you won't look like an aggressive photo tourist in any case. Great design with sure grip, good controls, and solid build. Comes with everything you need to head out on your trips and walks and take great pix. Menus very easy to navigate and learn. The Ying and Yang of it!

Jul 18, 2014

First off when I went to the support website everytime I clicked on download it would return to the same page, So I don't have the software or firmware updrades, and the manuel was a short version instruction manuel of 48 pages. I found the Sony English website had a larger 209 page manuel un available on Sony USA. I like the camera, but it didn't come with a shoe cover that I thought was tacky. The complexity of options, and lack of in depth descriptions of their utilization has me still experimenting rather than shooting productively. In short, great camera (so far) and poor support!

Wonderful

Jul 17, 2014

Having previously owned a Nex-5N, I really enjoy this camera. The extra customizable buttons are a godsend, and the EVF makes composing shots a lot better. I almost think the screen on the A6000 is harder to see in daylight than the 5N is. The autofocus speed is crazy fast, and very accurate. The extra megapixels are much appreciated. For whatever reason some buttons can be customized for certain things while others can not. A little annoying but nothing too bad. I'm a little disappointed that the new BIONZ X processor doesn't process images faster than the old one.

Simply awesome camera. I upgraded from an NEX-6 (which is not too shabby either) and I could not be happier.First: IQ. I am using the Zeiss 16-70mm lens and the photos are terrific. The details and colors are stunning.I love the customization of the function keys, makes operation faster without having to go through the Menu system, which is actually very logical and easy to navigate. All in all: better that my Nikon D5300 at half the weight. BTW, Sony does not provide a hot-shoe cover, but I bought on e on* for a buck.

Reliable and compact DSLR

Jul 14, 2014

Nice camera with a compact lens that performs good enough. It is all around compact camera to carry around for shooting a wide range of pictures, from wide scenic shots to portraits. The fact that camera has two dials is a bit of an issue but not a big one because this is not a professional camera that you have to quickly adjust a set of parameters. You generally leave it at Aperture or Shutter priority and then the two dial would work fine for t... Show More

I was ready to step up from my 6yr old megazoom camera with it's much smaller sensor, but didn't want to spend pro-level $$. I was also interested in mirrorless because I didn't want to pack around pounds of gear, but wanted higher quality lens than a current megazoom. Several web reviews of the Sony A6000 were near glowing positive, but I stopped by a brick-n-mortar to spec it's actual size. B&H had a sale on certain E-mount lenses so I jumped o... Show More

I am an advanced amateur with Canon DSLR (60 D)and several Canon lenses. I wanted a lighter ILC for travel and landscape photography. I am impressed with the quick AF, the color rendition is fantastic.. Comparable to the Fuji camera lineup. I chose Sony( for the first time) because of price and product specs.Battery life is terrible. Maybe a firmware update in the near future. I would recommend this product up to the ProLevel

Great APS Camera

Jul 8, 2014

IT fits well and is quite reminiscent of the Nex7 I used to own. I also find the EVF to be at least as good as the Nex7 for color and refresh rate and usability. The only thing that is missing is a mic jack, which has required me to look at other options external audio recorders, which kind of defeat the purpose for a portable solution. Nice camera. I'm just a casual photographer, but have always wanted to get into it and see what you can do with different lenses. So... I'm thinking I found my gateway drug with Sony Alpha A6000. Very versatile. I got the 16-50 & the 55-210 lenses, and am looking hard at some others now. The apps you can download are nice. By far, as advertised, this camera's af is the fastest among sony mirroless, and is comparable to many DSLRs as well as olympus models. It has a really good image qualities even at high ISO. However, its af accuracy is still questionable in low light setting. Other than that, you would find this amazing with its af and image quality.

Sony NEX 6 - great update

Jul 6, 2014

I recently upgraded my Sony NEX5K to a NEX6. The major changes in the 2 cameras is the built in view finder and moving the camera functions to a knob for faster changes of mode options. I appreciate the viewfinder when using the camera in bright sunlight. The camera also seems to auto focus faster. The battery life is a bit lower then my NEX 5. However, I always carry 2 batteries making this a non-issue.

Why no digital level gauge? Marketing?

Jul 6, 2014

I think that Sony is making a big mistake by not making a propper nex-7 replacement. The build quality seems cheaper, lower resolution electronic viewfinder, no mic input and for me the most irritating: no digital level gauge (virtual horizon). The battery has smaller capacity than the one in nex-7... Have the battery tech gone backwards? Amazingly fast autofocus

I currently own the a99, a7r, a77m2 as well as the a6000 and I shoot with the a6000 most often. I see some remarks about the battery drain - please put wifi on airplane mode and that will help a lot. The autofocus is the fastest and most intelligent I've yet seen. The viewfinder is not as nice as the other cameras, and I wish it had a sound port as well as a fully articulating screen. But it is so small, and so powerful. It is a very, very rewarding and fun camera to use.
