I recently bought the 10-20mm and used it on a visit to Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, where the streets are narrow and the architecture is interesting. It was great to be able to capture the majority of the building fronts in a single frame. The build quality of this lens is quite good and its nice to have f/3.5 thoughout the range. It may be a little heavy for some peoples taste, but that speaks to the speed and quality of this lens. Focus is accep... Show More

Fun Lens

Jul 31, 2017

Am having a lot of fun with this lens. Not surprised to see distortion around the edges in a 10-20 mm lens, and it corrects out easily in Lightroom in the few situations where I really don't want ti. Focuses quickly and reliably, and is sharp. Essentially it is exactly what I wanted, so I can't complain. Some complain that it's on the heavy side, but I find it extremely comfortable to use. I looked at all of the images on the B&H site shot with t... Show More

Awesone wide angle

Jan 18, 2012

Im just a enthusiastic photographer, thats just my second lens (so take my comments with grain of salt) but so far its been working great. I am more like a landscape kinda photographer, so at first I wasnt sure if what I needed was a fisheye or something else. Thats when I found this lenses (as a beginner, when it comes to wide angle all that would come to mind were the fisheyes). After reading some threads on the internet, I realized that a fish... Nice alternative to the 10-17

Aug 6, 2012

I have used both the Sigma 10-20 and the Pentax 10-17. I loved the 10-17 but decided when I had the funds to rebuy that I wanted to spring for the sigma due to the constant aperature and HSM, both are upgrades from the Pentax. I find the HSM to be slightly slower than the screw drive on the Pentax. Not terrible but noticible. The sigma corrects for distortion, whereas the Pentax does not. This is neither good nor bad, unless you have a preference... Show More

Don't leave home without it!

Oct 24, 2009

When I first got my hands on a 10-20mm super-wide angle zoom, I was already impressed with it, even though that model was the f4-5.6 version! Then, not much later, this new version came out and I knew I had to get it with the fix f3.5 value! It is a great lens for a variety of purposes! Huge buildings inside and out, parks, wide areas, all just get swollowed up with this glass! My Times Square photos show a much-much larger view than with my stan... Show More

Better than ...

Jun 27, 2010

This is the first Sigma lens I've used in about a decade. And boy have they improved. I'm a Canon shooter. First of this EX series of lenses as far as I can tell is on par with L series glass. Autofocus is fast and quiet as my Canon lenses. Pics come out sharp and clear. The aperture only goes to f3.5 but that is for the entire zoom range unlike Canon & Nikon equivalents that stop down as you extend your zoom. Not only is the Sigma brand still a ... Show More

This lens is a mixed bag

Dec 5, 2019

This lens is probably the worst lens I have ever had. Actually, I don't have it any more because I returned it. The only way to get somewhat in focus pictures was to use live view on my Nikon D5200. Absolutely could not focus correctly using auto focus and the viewfinder. The reviews are correct, it is soft in the corners. It does one thing quite good however and that is it's pretty good at macros. That was the only time it was sharp. Not enough ... Show More

Great for Video

Feb 8, 2011

Got this lens b/c I needed a wide angle lens to shoot video on my Canon 7D and this lens does the trick. This lens gives great results with a bit of DOF. Great for capturing in close spaces or for capturing atmosphere of a shot. Gave it four stars b/c the auto focus does not work well for subject further than 3 feet away. However for my use in video the lens works great. I looked at the other wide angle options such as the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 bu... Show More

Very good lens for an advanced amateur

Mar 30, 2012

As a somewhat advanced amateur, I appreciate the added scope in focal length that this wide angle, rectalinear lens lends to my 'kit,' which now include this 10mm-20mm, 17mm-70mm, 50mm-200mm, and 300mm. I use a Pentax SLR and the Sigma lenses make a fine and economical contribution. The constant f/3.5 aperture provides good lower-light (fog for instance) capability with focal flexability for composing a wide landscape scene. I have found the resu... Show More

Fantastic lens for the price. Almost unbeatable.

Aug 3, 2016

This is a sharp, clear lens with a fantastic fixed f3.5 throughout the full range of the zoom. The focus is crisp and accurate. Wide open I get a wee bit of banding in bright blue sky and the 82mm filter size is a bit of a bother but the lens is capable of fantastic results and I love it. f3.5 is still not quite perfect in terms of astrophotography but the extra wide 10mm aperture produces very sharp images with only the slightest hint of loss at... I was going to use this lens as a fish eye, at least that's what the associate at B & H said it was good for. I'd say it's more like a macro. Excellent for close ups. However it doesn't have a super fish eye capability. I was very unsatisfied with the lens. I expected a fish eye, and received a macro. I originally purchased a fish eye Nikor lens that wasn't compatible with my camera body (d5000)and this was the lens they replaced it with. This wa... Show More

No major complaints from me

Jan 6, 2016

Solid lens for the price, as usual it would seem coming from Sigma. The ultra wide 10mm focal length, decent zoom range, constant aperture of F/3.5, and satisfying image quality makes this the lens I most highly recommend for you APS-C users out there. The images towards the edges are quite soft at the widest aperture so if you're taking a landscape and want everything pretty sharp I'd go to somewhere around the F/10 mark. For close ups though, I... Show More

My first foray into 3rd party lens makers (Lensbabies don't count)is a success in every sense. The build quality is exceptional. This is one mean looking lens. Plus, it comes with its own lens hood. It is very versatile in itself and nicely complements my existing glass collection as well. I used it for the first time during my friend's wedding and it performed very well in all lighting conditions. I was debating whether to get the tokina 11-16 f... Show More

Apr 24, 2016

Hum my copy of this lens does produce softer images relative to my 'plasticky' Pentax DA 50-200, my Fuji X100T, and even my tiny Lumix LX5 with a CCD that's 1/8 the size. The focusing is also a bit slow. However with the Pentax's 12-24 which is made by Tokina and with screw-drive focusing, I'm not sure it's worth paying the extra $$$ as well. Don't get me wrong it still produces spectacular images with no noticeable (to me) vignetting it is a goo... Show More

Wonderful wide angle lens

I shoot home interiors for magazines, and a wide angle is a must in many rooms in order to get a decent snapshot of an interior. Well, with this lens, you can almost get the whole room when zoomed all the way out! I use it on a tripod with a cable release due to the low shutter speeds, and it is by far my favorite lens. Quality Lens for the Price

For the money, I found the Sigma superior in quality w/ metal connectors, sturdy body, quality glass and less plastic overall. It's much heavier and larger than the Nikon if this is a factor, which was not for me. Lastly, I did a photo quality comparison test and found at both at f/8 and f/5.6 the Sigma performed w... From the first shots I took, I knew I picked a great lens. For the DX camera owner, this is the wide angle to get. Great value lens

Dec 21, 2015

I bought the lens in what must be the best equipped photography shop in the world, B and H in New York. I got the opportunity to try the Tokina and Canon equivalents but went for the faster lens the Sigma. Got great advice from the sales team in store. I used the lens for my holiday pictures of NYC and it didn't disappoint. It was great for taking all sorts of pictures from skyscrapers, landscapes in Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge. The best ones were the night landscape from the top of the rock, which because of the speed of the lens, were hand held. Super lens , bargain at the price

I would buy this product again

Sep 17, 2012

I bought this product for landscapes because of a trip I was planning to use on my Canon 60D. I ended up using it at the beach and loved every photo. The vignetting wasn't bad at all and easy to fix when it did happen. Once the sun broke the horizon it took really sharp photos. The lens gets a lot of complaints for being heavy and to be truthful it kind of is.. but it makes me feel more like its just built tough able to withstand a beating. Over the last few months it has taken a beating without any hick-ups. All in all I'm glad I added it to my collection.
