Lives up to the promises
I have two other 500 gig Samsung SSDs in my 'built' machine and based on their performance, I took advantage of the special pricing this one in order to have my OS on the larger 1TB platform. I'm always a bit hesitant when it comes to migrating my entire system, but I've done so, twice now, using the 'Magician' software. Be aware: It does not leave your 'source' SSD formatted and devoid of all OS data. It creates an image of the source disk on ... Show More

Fast
This is an unfair comparison to be honest so take it with a grain of salt. I've never used an SSD in my computer before so my old computer was using HDD (it was hybrid but difference between HDD and Hybrid HDD wasn't noticeable to me) so obviously going from that to solid state alone was a huge boost. I bought this because 1TB lets me just store everything on the SSD rather than booting from SSD and storing on HDD. I really like how m.2 form fact... Show More

Cloned OK from my 250GB SSD on my Dell XPS 9360.
I first made a disk backup of the existing 250GB SSD in my Dell XPS13 9360. To do this I used a USB stick which I had earlier made bootable with Acronis True Image 2017, and to which I had also copied the ATI2017 clone software. (Note: to boot to a USB stick, I had to change the BIOS to enable Legacy Boot). The backup I stored on a spare M2 SSD mounted in a USB adaptor. Any spare drive will do. The disk image is compressed about 2x during backup ... Show More

very fast and easy to install
Awesome speed, low heat and flawless. Highly recommended
Replaced a SATA m.2 Intel drive with this one. I moved that old drive to a USB m.2 SATA adapter, installed the SAMSUNG 970 in its place, booted the laptop from the USB adapter and used SAMSUNGs data migration software to move over the data. It was quite painless and fast. This drive is lets the laptop operate at its full speed in terms of data access from an NVMe drive. Boot up is a few seconds faster and general operation of the laptop is also f... Show More

Work! Use with SinTech adapter on my 2014 MacBookPro 15.4
I bought this to upgrade my 2014 MacBook Pro 15.4 inch. I measured the SSD throughput on the original 512GB SSD and after the upgrade. On the original one, I was getting 600+MB/s. On the new one, I am getting 1,600MB/s. It is not the spec.ed 2,500MB/s but that could be due to my older Mac model. If you plan to use it for a Mac, remember to upgrade your OS to High Sierra before you do the migration. Otherwise, the machine wont see the new SSD. U... Show More

M.2 is fast
With a newly built PC I researched these M.2 drives before I started it. These drives are lightning fast and save so much space inside the case. They mount directly to the face of the new motherboards which accept these drives. There are adapters to make them work on older motherboards, but I cannot comment on them, since I have not used those. With an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 6-core processor, 64 gb of RAM, a Radeon RX 580 graphics card, and 1050W modu... Show More

Great flash drive to upgrade 21.5 iMac.
I installed Samsung 500GB 970 EVO NVMe M.2 PCIe flash drive inside my 21.5 iMac (late 2013 model), the iMac running Mac OS X Mojave. I used Cablecc 12+16pin 2014 2015 Macbook to M.2 NGFF M-Key SSD Convert Card, as the iMac doesnt have the NVMe slot. The installation is not easy, but it is worth it. The length of the flash drive in the adapter and the adapter in the PCIe slot was just right to secure the flash drive with a screw that I had to suppl... Show More

Works well. Easy install
I set this up to replace a "conventional" SDD, seeking greater speed. Noticeable improvement. My computer was 4 years old, so I flashed the BIOS first to get the latest for compatibility. If using with WinX, be sure to use the Samsung driver available on their website for best performance. Also, Samsung provides the Data Migration software if you want to move Windows to this device, and make it the boot drive. Note: After a bit of ... Show More

Fastest SSD Connection Possible
Other than external 3.1 USB-C drives (Samsung T5 for example), I wouldnt invest in SSD storage other than PCle. NVMe is way faster than SATA 3 (550MBs vs +3500MBs), so if youre buying speed (think video editing/CAD/gaming), a 7 to 1 speed ratio is less than 2 to 1 in price. In my OWC 4M2express, with the 1TB above, AJA system test was 700/750MBs via adapted Thunderbolt 2. But with two of these, in SoftRaid 0, system test was roughly 1200/1250MBs ... Show More

Install from H. E. Double Hockey Sticks
The drive itself is fantastic. Simple to install. Very fast. Installing windows on a m.2 was nothing short of suicide. I blame the MOB and drive manufacturers for pointing fingers at each other instead of just documenting the problem and including the convoluted instructions with the hardware. It is necessary to go into the BIOS erase security codes, shut off secure mode and change windows to other software. You also have to disable the wif... Show More

Note: Keep in mind that older BIOS based motherboards will not be able to boot from this device. You have to have a recent motherboard that supports UEFI booting. Video encoding, file transferring A++
Performance is amazing, words can't even describe how fast this SSD is compared to even the 870 evo. You just have to experience it. Coming from the older SSD platform, I'd never go back. Recording UHD streams is well within the wheelhouse, and you can even access and edit other files on the same drive without impacting performance if you have the CPU to back it up. If you're considering this card, buy it and don't look back. Howe... Show More

Very fast stick
I purchased 2 of these M.2 sticks for a new build with an X570 MSI Edge WIFI mobo. It seems like overkill but as a user of Autocad, I fill up drives quickly. I need optimal speed between drives to move full drawing sets around and store them. These drives are fast! I don't wait like I did with my old system. No regrets in buying them. I was asked why I did not buy a 250GB for the boot drive. I answered back, why do that when the 500GB's are on sale and only $59 more for twice the storage capacity? I can use it! I highly recommend Samsung M.2 sticks for the reliability.

If speed is your objective get this drive, there is nothing faster at this price. Installed in the Dell Alienware Aurora R7 2018 model that included the Intel Optane module and a Toshiba 1TB hard drive. Used the latest Samsung Migration software to Clone from hard drive (must disable Optane Drive first) and Bam! You got what feels like a brand new computer all over again. Everything seems to move in lightspeed. Only issue was the samsung migration tool did not delete the old hard drive as it warned it would do. Had to remove the old hard drive so I wouldnt conflict.

Works well but certainly not plug and play
Samsung magician didn't recognise it nor prompt for an update. Samsung's "magician" site as listed on the box it came in doesn't list it as supported. However, when you search the 970 at Samsung's site it mentions Magician. Decided to download latest version. Now it recognises it. Magician only "tunes" performance- it doesn't clone or anything that useful. Once all that done though, it is a bit faster than Samsung's conventional SSD in loading Windows and opening programs like Lightroom- not a lot though.

Fast, fast, fast!
I replaced the Stock 128GB NVMe boot drive that was in my newly acquired PC with this. I had to clone it first to a Samsung SSD (thank God I had a spare one), shut down, remove the stock NVMe drive and replace with the Samsung 970 EVO, boot from the Samsung SSD, clone the Samsung SSD to the Samsung 970 EVO, shutdown and then reboot. Admittedly a little kludgy but not Samsungs fault! My PC used to take about 55 seconds to boot - now it boots in about 19 seconds! Also did some benchmarks (see photos).

The Toshiba drive, less than 2 years old, was corrupting operating system files and causing as many as three Windows 10 Blue Screens of Death a day. The Samsung drive has been in use for a couple of weeks has operated flawlessly. And speed - This drive for the operating system along with a 4TB Samsung SSD for data makes this Asus laptop fly!

faster than hdd boot drive
Replaced an HDD boot drive for my new Dell computer with this m.2 drive. First computer guy didn't know how to install it and clone my data and partitions. I ran out of that store. Second computer guy did a great job. I could tell the difference immediately. Also cleared up space for an additional internal data drive. Recommend. But, make sure you have a connection on your motherboard for a m.2 drive before purchasing.

Fast install, working great, benchmarks are FAST
Using Acronis 2019 it was fast and easy to clone my old SATA SSD to this one, shut down, remove the old SATA C: drive, and reboot with the 970 EVO. It "just worked" and more quickly than I ever thought possible. I haven't noticed a huge difference in boot time from my old SATA SSD, but the benchmark difference is huge and many disc-intensive tasks are faster. I'm very happy with the Samsung 1TB 970 EVO NVMe M.2 Internal SSD.
