Good Cheap Negative Storage

Apr 15, 2008

I keep all my 35mm negatives in three-ring binders using these sleeves. Film strips 6 frames long slide easily in and out of the pockets in either direction, but not so easily that they'll fall out. Clear and archival plastic. Durable as well. Making contact sheets is a cinch! My only complaint is that the 6-frame x 6-row arrangement means the negatives on the edges will be clipped off if using 8x10 paper, no matter how you turn it. The 5-frame x 7-row sleeves fit everything on an 8x10 contact sheet, but you lose one frame of a 36-exposure roll. A tradeoff either way. Still a good buy.

good product

Mar 6, 2011

I am a student and I bought this recently to hold my negatives. Since I use both 24 & 36 exposure 35mm film, I figured I'd get holders that will be able to hold 1 roll of film per sheet. Even though some films can give 24+ or 36+ exposures the bulk of the negatives will be together. They are slightly wider (.5 in) than a normal binder so the sleeves do stick out a little. The sleeves are a bit thin but they hold the negatives nicely and are supposed to be archival. But I haven't bumped into any other 35mm film sleeves that were thicker.

Good to protect, store and organize your 35mm negatives

Jun 19, 2017

In general, put these into a 3-ring binder and you're good to go. A place to write on the top of the sheet with a fine point permanent marker to identify the roll it hold. One roll of film per sheet. I had to take off one star because the first time the first strip of negatives is inserted, it takes effort to put it in without touching the image area of the negatives. Also because the edge wants to stick out of the edge of a school kid's type of binder. Otherwise this is a great product for the advertised purpose.

Nifty shape.

Sep 30, 2008

I use this to put negatives in, clearly. I do like that it holds all 36 frames instead of 35 like many other sheets and you have to figure out what to do with the last frame. HOWEVER. i didn't look carefully at the pictures and after receiving it i realized it was square. which means you can't make a contact sheet with all 36 frames , some of the top and bottom strip gets cut off :( but it still holds your negatives and protects them just fine.

Very thin

May 21, 2012

These are very thin pages. Is relativly difficult to put the negatives on it because how thin they are. Also if your negatives are warpped then page will warp with them.My all time favority is Archival Elite Format #13E which seems to be out of production, apaprently it was 10 mil total thickness.Out of current ones that I have tested it seems that the thicker one currently in production is PrintFile Ultima, which seems to 6mil total thickness.

They slide in easy

Dec 23, 2009

I've been using these for 35mm and 126 negatives. I have had no problems with it so far. The negatives slide in and out easily, but not easily enough for them to fall out. It is for an oversized binder however so make sure you know that before you purchase.

Good Quality and Secure

Nov 6, 2019

It does what it's designed to do, and it does it pretty well. It hugs my film pretty tightly, so I can be sure it's not going to fall out, but it's not so tight that the film is difficult to remove. Good product for a good value.

Handy, Efficient Negative Filing

Dec 12, 2010

I've been using Print File sleeves to organize negatives in formats from 35mm to 4x5-in. for many years. Negatives that I processed 25 or 30 years ago are still in fine shape, in part due to the files' archival qualities.

great product for storing negatives

Jun 21, 2011

this is a great product for storing 35mm negatives. one issue I found out was that the 6 strip page overhangs a little bit in normal 3 ring binders... If care is not taken, you could damage the ends of your negatives

Clear sheet of plastic

Sep 8, 2010

I use this in a classroom setting. The only downside to it, and the reason I might get 5x7 in the future, is that when making a contact sheet this sleeve will not fit neatly over the 8x10 paper I have.

Useful and it helps to save money

Dec 22, 2010

This is great for photographers who shoot with T-Max 400 36 exposure, you'll save money only using one sleeve per roll instead of two (traditional sleeve with 7 rows of 5 exposure spaces)

Hard to get replacement neg files.

Aug 20, 2017

Just the shot for my needs. The old negative files from the 1960's and 1970's are coming apart, and I could not readily find replacements here in Brisbane, Australia. Thanks for these.

Get a larger binder

Oct 4, 2011

Does contact prints no problem. Pretty easy to get film in and out. You'll need a slightly bigger binder, though, as the edge of the page sticks out a little.

Thin

Jan 27, 2018

These are made out of very thin soft plastic, about as substantial as plastic shrink wrap. Seems like the binder rings will rip if even gently mishandled
