Part II of the Holy Trinity

Jun 27, 2018

This is the second lens of the Holy Trinity of zooms for my LUMIX G9. This lens is fantastic for the money. Small, light, compact, and covers the 70-200mm f/2.8 range of a DSLR. This fits in a cargo pants pocket or jacket pocket. And, it pairs well with the 12-35 f/2.8. I'm using it with the LUMIX G9 for photo and video. This lens does real sharp 4K video through the zoom range even at f/2.8. The focus is super fast and accurate. The zoom ri... Show More

Razor sharp, but limited usefulness

Dec 30, 2018

I owned this lens for about a year, and recently sold it. Very sharp lens with excellent build quality, but too slow. It doesnt really offer that much advantage over the 14-140mm kit lens, which, frankly, is just at sharp at f/5.6. If youre planning to shoot indoors (ie. sports), f/2.8 is just too slow. I found myself at ISO3200 more often than not. The Sigma 56mm/1.4 is much, much sharper, to the point that youre better off cropping in at 56... Show More

Very nice all-around lens

Dec 28, 2017

I brought this lens with me to the Galapagos. It was able to withstand the sea spray and one drop (albeit in a padded backpack). At first, I was a bit apprehensive about being able to take wider angle shots but I discovered I could use my G85's panorama mode to assist in wider angle shots. In the Galapagos, the wildlife usually comes pretty close to you so the 100mm reach is usually enough. I didn't really test out the lens in night conditions, h... Show More

A natural complement to the 12-35mm/f2.8

Mar 24, 2018

I have been shooting with the original version of the Panasonic 35-100mm/f2.8 since it first came out. I bought it to be the extension of and complement to the 12-35mm/f2.8. While I don't use the 35-100 with the same frequency as the 12-35, I use it frequently enough to consider it a valuable addition to my camera bag. While I have several prime lenses that I use, when I want to travel with a minimal bag, I usually take only the 12-35 and 35-100.... Show More

Good lens, but I think there are better options

Feb 9, 2019

I used this lens for 1 full month on Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II, so users on Panasonic body will have slightly different experience. In general I think its a good lens. However, I sold it after one month to get Olympus 12-100 that replaced 12-40 and 35-100 2.8. Pros of 35-100: Good image quality, 2.8 constant aperture, size does not change, lightweight. Cons: build quality and design aesthetics are lower than Olympus pro lens, stabilization is so-... Show More

Great, awesome EXCEPT useless OIS for video

Jan 10, 2018

So basically panasonic uses the same optical formula, updates the body slightly with a new paint job and "better weather sealing", and slaps on a huge markup. Then, to add insult to injury, the OIS is useless for video work and is currently even worse than the V1! Used with GH5 dual IS II and it is still unuseable for video work unless your only use is to stand still for locked off shots. Any panning introduces jerky motion to the shot. It's been out for how long now, a year? And now FW updates... Been sitting on my shelf while I still use the V1...

Very good, but not going to blow you away

Jun 19, 2018

Don't get me wrong. This is a very good lens. But seeing how this is the mark II version, Panasonic should've updated the optics of the original. This lens is compact, and the whole lens is about the same size of my Tamron 70-200 f2.8 G2 lens hood, which is bonkers if you think about it. I've put this in my shorts pocket, and it fits fine. If you need the constant 2.8 aperture, you really don't have a lot of choices. It's either this or the Olympus 40-150 f2.8. Unfortunately, that is a much larger and heavier lens.

Brilliant Lens

Nov 4, 2019

The Panasonic Lumix 35-100mm f/2.8 ll is a gem. It's equivalent to a 70-200mm f/2.8 FF lens but less than a fourth of the weight-and less than half the price! It's as sharp and contrasty as any prime lens-just amazing optics. It takes full advantage of the 20.3 MP sensor in my MFT Lumix camera. And the lens doesn't extend at all when zooming or focusing, which means less dust is sucked in when zooming or focusing. Fully weather sealed. Switch on lens barrel turns optical image stabilization on and off.

Terrific sharp, lightweight M43 lens

Sep 24, 2019

I bought this lens to take on safari to Kenya and Tanzania. The 35-100mm focal length was ideal for much of the big animal wildlife photography that I enjoyed on this trip. The fast f2.8 aperture was an added bonus; I could get amazingly sharp photos at dawn and dusk, photos that my other, slower lenses could not capture. The small size and light weight of the lens made it ideal for travel. Overall, I am very happy with this lens and look forward to using it for years to come.

Excellent Compliment to the 12-35

Mar 18, 2019

Great compliment to the 12-35. Sharp at all focal lengths and apertures. Sharpest at about f4. Between the 2 lenses, it gives you a lot of range of shooting. This lens is equally adept at photos and video. Its a must-have. Another good feature is that it adjusts the glass internally - no external telescoping! Very nice focal range for the size. Can keep things nice and discreet. Nothing really negative to say about it.Now Im adding some primes for specific applications.

Surprisingly good lens

Sep 3, 2018

I would have given this five stars except I think Panasonic is charging too much $. Setting aside the price, this is a great lens and there is nothing quite like it for the MFT GH5s. The stabilization is really good, but like all OIS, there are situations where it gets in the way. If you learn this lens and use it for its strengths (which there are many) and be respectful of those situations where OIS is a nuisance, then you will be VERY happy with this lens.

Sharp Images, Good Color

Mar 9, 2019

Im an amateur, so I havent used it as broadly as might a pro. I bought the lens primarily to use when taking multi row panorama frames using an RSS gimbal. The focal length range is perfect for that use. Initial impressions are positive, it focuses sharply and renders colors well. Im about to take off on a long journey; Ill update my review when I return.

small, portable, powerful and sharp

Nov 30, 2017

I bought this for our GH5 kit and have been using it for Dual IS long shots. The Dual IS is pretty amazing for handheld. It gets a little laggy when panning, but for those closeup shots when you don't have a tripod available, the camera / lens combo works great. A firmware update to fix the lag would be awesome.. but we will see. Great lens!

Just got it a few days ago but I already love this lens. The fact that the zoom is internal, (no telescoping barrel), and 35 x 100mm at a constant f/2.8. I also bought the 12 x 35mm f/2.8. The only way to improve it would be to have a f/2.8 12 x 100mm, (the best of both worlds).

LOVE THE LENS

Great product. The marketing team here at the Valley Performing Arts Center uses the product during interviews and they love the quality of the footage they get while using the lens. Thank you for having such an amazing lens that is very useful for our marketing needs.

Great lens - excellent stabilization!

Aug 25, 2017

Just like its 12-35 brother - this is an excellent lens. Stabilization works well. Looks great - High quality. I bought two 12-35's and one of these. I wanted to make sure I had the most stabilization I could get for capturing moving shots on film. Works as advertised.

I've been shooting indoor sports with this lens and it does a great job. I haven't even used it in an outside environment. I can only imagine that with better lighting they will look even better.

Excellent lens for the Gh4

For the price it's a very good lens that's sharp and reliable. We use it for television documentary style shooting with the Lumix Gh4. We're very pleased.
