Patience is key/
After reading multiple reviews I purchased the PS-X-Auto with some anxiety. After several hundred slides I found it works, but it has its problems. First challenge is the dual punch of poor instructions and temperamental software. After experimenting and trial and error youll get it figured out. The other problem is the small sweet spot for slide dimensions and condition. It doesnt like plastic slide frames, and if the slide is out of plane even ... Show More

Its good... until its not.
-Pros: High quality scans, compact design -Cons: Loud, cumbersome interface, needs to be restarted/reset often, scans blanks often (doesnt load properly) I purchased this scanner to archive my fathers collection of 35mm slides, and am scanning at 4000dpi, to eventually generate a file thats approximately 12x18 at 300dpi. Im doing minimal color correction with the scanner, electing to edit the files in Lightroom in post-production. That said, th... Show More

Great Concept, Horrible Execution!
First off, props to B&H for their impeccable customer service and their fast attention to what is clearly a defective product. I first bought this scanner in January for a massive job -- scanning some 50K images that I need digitized. The first machine worked fine until about the 2,000th slide, then it started producing images with streaks of pixellation. I returned it and got a second machine, which had a defective feeder arm, rendering every 5t... Show More

A Serious Scanner Using the Lasersoft Scanning Software
Out of the box the setup was quick with no issues. The slide magazine works well with no issues. The software that comes with the machine gives a good scan, probably 75% of what I can get with my Nikon Supercoolscan 5000 ED, using Silverfast scanning software. When the Silverfast software is ready for the PowerSlide X, I suspect that I will get close to 95% of what I can do with the Canon scanner. And, I can set it up and let it go during which I... still working out how it works
The 50 slide tray with auto feed is awesome. I upgraded from a single slide unit. load the tray set the features you want on the slide copies and walk away. I've done several trays so far and have no complaints.

Very high quality scanned image
After some struggle, I am totally satisfied with all aspects of the Pacific Image Powerslide X. The quality of the scans is highly adjustable. The scanned image can be saved in jpg or tif. There are many settings for optional methods of improving the scan. One should experiment with all the choices before committing to a batch. Slides go into a tray with a capacity of 50 slides. One specifies the number of slides in the tray, the naming conventio... Show More

Great slide scanner
Having the ability to automate slide scanning is great. This unit does a solid job of scanning and the output is very good. The quality of the unit is very high and it works very well. The interface software is not as intuitive as it could be, but overall it is not too hard to get it working correctly if you follow the well written instructions. Knowing that I am purchasing from Australia, I was disappointed that the power supply did not come with the appropriate slide on adapter. Dealing with the B&H is a first class experience and their staff were very helpful.
