Good value!
5/7/2019. Ive had this scanner for about 8 months now. After using it extensively on hundreds of negatives, Id say its pretty good. My guess is this is the best medium format scanner youre going to get for less than a $16k Flextight. The first unit I received from B&H was out of focus on one side. After a back and forth with the manufacturers support rep, I decided to take a chance and exchange it with B&H for another unit. Thanks B&H! The seco... Show More

Buggy device
Device doesnt always work for me. When it does decide to work, calibration often takes quite a while, then it will finally start to scan (10 minute calibration for a 800 dpi pre-scan of a 35mm slide is crazy) . However, the scan sometimes then is empty. Scans are quite slow for me - slower than older generation film scanners I used. The CyberView X5 software is the only reliable way Ive been able to scan ... I am a longtime VueScan user, but the ... Show More

Excellent Film Scanner
This scanner was very easy to install and set up. I have attached it to a Windows XP computer and run it with VueScan. The filmholder for 120 roll film is well engineered. It allows the film to be stressed enough to hold it flat. I have been scanning some pictures made with my Koni-Omege Rapid camera that I purchase almost 50 years ago. Recently shot pictures made on TMax 400 black and white film produced very good files that printed well. I even... Show More

Medium format = 6x6 or 6x9?
It would be useful if you could let customers know if this scanner will handle as large as 6x9cm !

Avoid this product!
It has terrible banding issues both on the left and right sides. The software is a real pain to work with and only seems to work with older Windows OS. All in all, really a flatbed Epson will do much better.

Close to Nikon 8000, much better than flatbed image quality
Using an Ilford Delta Pro 100 medium format negative, I compared scan results from my recently purchased PF120, a Nikon 8000 ED, and a Canon 9000F flatbed. I also had a 24 x 36 print made commercially from the PF120. The comparison scans were made at 4000 dpi, 3200 dpi, and 4800 dpi on the Nikon 8000, the PF120, and the Canon 9000F, respectively. The comparison was complicated by the fact that the Nikon scan was done by a commercial lab using Nik... Show More

A decent medium format film scanner
This is about as good as it gets these days for a medium format film scanner for home use. Since Nikon discontinued the CoolScan 9000, there has been a big hole in the market for a decent medium format film scanner. This one does a decent job of filling that void. In addition to the privided software, VueScan will work with this scanner. SilverFast appears to have a version also, but I haven't tried it.

Excellent scanner for 120/220
Set up and installation was without heartburn. First scans came out great. The software has far less options than my previous scanner (Plustek OpticFilm 8200i)had a lot more options but I have not missed any of them. Nice, clean and properly exposed scans every time. It IS extremely slow. Deal with it. It's a great scanner for medium format and 35mm film.

AVOID!!!!
Operation is plagued by error messages not explained in the minimalist user manual (which has no troubleshooting section). Software is awful and must be reset each time you open it--which you'll do a lot when trying to get the scanner to operate. Curve & level adjustments are barely useable. The software seems to have been designed by someone who has no concept of workflow or why someone would want to scan 120 film. With great effort you can get ... Show More

Inconsistent performance
This scanner produces highly inconsistent results. The software is very limited and non-intuitive. Overall, do not recommend this product.

Expensive and Slow
This is fine if you want to copy 5 slides. Anymore than that, use an Epson flatbed scanner for 1/10 the price.
